I think if Thomas ends up with the offer, he commits within a week of receiving it. I wouldn't be surprised if our QB offer has a "window" effective with it so if we miss on someone we can still move onto the next player on the list.

And I never really felt we were a player for Rogers. I think we'd have a shot with A.J. Marshall if we were really looking for CB's this season.

Yeah, reading between the lines on his interview, if we were to offer he'd commit. And now that USC is out of the picture...

Kenny Wilkins committed to Michigan. We weren't on his final cut list, but we did offer him. From ESPN Insider:

Keystone State defender Kenny Wilkins picks Wolverines

Kenny Wilkins, a 6-foot-3, 230-pound defensive end / outside linebacker from Trinity (Washington, Pa.), has pledged to Michigan's Class of 2010.

Wilkins chose the Wolverines over Pittsburgh and West Virginia. He also drew offers from Maryland, Virginia, Boston College, Minnesota, Syracuse, North Carolina, Michigan State, Rutgers, Wisconsin, Illinois, Purdue and North Carolina State.

Wilkins registered 33 solo tackles, 51 assists and eight sacks as a junior on his way to first team all-state recognition.

Michigan now has 13 commitments.

It's been slow lately. Crisp's commitment and the good (football) press we've been getting lately should speed things up soon, right?

Scholarship-offer & commit run-down?

^^^ Chill out. We only had 3 commits before this date last year. Most will come in December.

Same with 2008. But we got a bunch in June/July that year.

Recruits I'd love to get, and ones I think we realistically have a shot at:

QB Pete Thomas
DT Fre'Shad Hunter
DE Alfy Hill
LB Kendall Moore
WR Tony Creecy

If we get all those guys, or even 3 out of 5, I'll be pumped as shit

Moore and Thomas are probably leaning
Hill, i don't think so.

You know, honestly, the longer Creecy waits to commit, the less comfortable I've become with him. I don't know, I understand checking out all your options with OV's, but if he's as big a lean as people have said, just curious on the delay unless he's just a really big fan of the recruiting process.

But if we could get Thomas before the end of the month and then maybe add Hunter and maybe Moore in July, then I'd be pretty stoked.

Kinda off topic, but with official visits, unofficial visits, and camps, who fits the bill? I know a lot of these kids visit a lot of places and go to a lot of camps, which will get quite expensive.

I agree, but I just don't understand what's going through his head. He obviously liked his trip here (evidenced by his quotes). We NEED pass-rushing ends. It's close to home. We're on the upswing. So many reasons why he should come here.

He might be a UNC fan, true. But considering they have Moss, Quinn, Coples, and probably Gabe King, it's going to be tough to find minutes. I'd hate to see him get waiver wired.

If Hill was going to UNC he would have committed by now. He has had multiple opportunities but keeps coming up with 'excuses' why he wants to put it off.

lol ok. if we are just throwing shit out there I'd say he's a 54.6% State lean. grades aren't an issue thus far with Hill. he backed away when they put pressure on him to committ.

This is clearly a dumb statement. Hill is more like 52.74% leaning towards state.

Damnit. I always forget to subtract the %1.86 that UNC gets from State because the trees around Kenan are really nice. Sorry about that.

I kinda agree with the logic that if he wanted to go there, he'd have gone. However, as time passes, I feel hell probably lean more in their favor.

^^ since when do you need any basis in fact or reality to post on TWW?

But truly, the argument that if he were gonna commit he would have done it already, makes a lot of sense. But at the same time, its CAROLINA, and the intangibles of going there often lead people to favor them unrealistically.

Interesting update on Alex Smith the TE from Ohio who committed to Cincy. Although he still says he is going to Cincy he has decided to look at some of the 20 schools who offered him a scholarship. He specifically mentions that he wants to visit NCSU. From ESPN Insider:

Top 2010 Bearcats pledge tight end Alex Smith looking around

Highly-coveted Lakota West (West Chester, Ohio) prospect Alex Smith told ESPN affiliate Web site NittanyNetwork.com, "I haven't decommitted. But I'm going to visit some of the 20 other schools that offered. I committed to Cincinnati early and I haven't really seen any other schools."

"I developed a good relationship with Coach (Mike) Elston," Smith continued. "With him coaching the defensive line (in 2009) they are not sure they are going to have a tight ends coach. They might just have the tight ends go back and forth with the wide receivers and the offensive linemen."

Smith also listed the other programs who could be in the mix, "You have to be impressed with Michigan. I've never seen a stadium like that. Coach Rod pulled me aside and gave me my own private tour. I definitely want to visit LSU and probably Penn State. I want to see Miami of Florida and I would like to see North Carolina and North Carolina State."

Yeah Thomas to ASU is official. This is one of those things that always concerned me about our camping policy, it can really force a QB to wait longer than they'd like to "earn" the scholarship from us. But I'm sure we'll find some QB to offer, probably Sullivan or Days. Looks like we'll be getting another mobile QB now.

Wasnt he really concerned about the depth chart? I think that probably played as big of a role as anything. They just lost a 3 year starter in Rudy Carpenter, so he would have a chance to compete immediately.

looks like Isaiah Johnson is going to Georgia Tech...

Yellow Jackets land defensive back Isaiah Johnson

A 6-foot-1, 170-pound safety, Isaiah Johnson has chosen Georgia Tech over Georgia and Oklahoma State for the Class of 2010.

Johnson, from Sandy Creek, Tyrone, Ga., holds other offers from Mississippi, Miami-Florida, South Carolina, Stanford, East Carolina, Duke, North Carolina State and Vanderbilt.

As a junior, he was credited with 53 tackles and seven interceptions.

At the Atlanta Under Armour Combine, Johnson posted a 4.71 40-yard dash, 4.25 20-yard shuttle, 7.27 three-cone drill and 34-inch vertical.

The Yellow Jackets now have five commitments.

awfully slow at 4.71. wonder what position he'll play in the secondary with that 40 time? surely not cornerback.

nm, he's a safety

Some kids haven't been shown how to run a 40 correctly. Truthfully if I was a coach I would want to see how fast the kid is with pads on. It is still a concern though.

A few NCSU recruiting updates on Insider today. Somehow Cal has emerged as the favorite for Gabe King. And UNC is in a tie for second.

Daunte Carr has us in his top 5 (previously top 4). Miami offered him and he added them to the list of his top schools.

Chris McCain named his top 5 schools... We are not one of them. The only ACC school in his top 5 is Maryland.

I copied and pasted the articles from Insider below...

Gabe King has Cal on top, three tied for second position

The Cal Bears are currently in the lead for ESPNU 150 Watch List defensive lineman Gabe King, affiliate Web site DuckTerritory.com reports.

King also has Oregon, North Carolina and Alabama all tied at No. 2 on his list.

Georgia, Clemson, Tennessee, N.C. State, LSU, Maryland, Duke and West Virginia are amongst the other programs recruiting King.

Miami-FL offers Daunte Carr, Hurricanes now in top five

ESPNU 150 Watch List athlete Daunte Carr previously named a final four of N.C. State, Wake Forest, UCLA and Stanford, however, a new offer has changed that, ESPN's JC Shurburtt reports.

The Miami Hurricanes have extended a scholarship offer to Carr and are now in his top five.

He recorded 70 tackles and five interceptions last fall earning all-county recognition.

Chris McCain names top five

ESPNU 150 Watch List defensive end revealed his top five for affiliate Web site DuckTerritory.com.

The Northern (Greensboro, N.C.) prospect has Maryland, California, Alabama, LSU and Oregon out in front for his signature.

Other schools such as North Carolina, N.C. State, Virginia Tech, Kentucky, South Carolina and East Carolina are also after him.
