Anyone try http://www.funambol.com/ to sync their iphone with thunderbird calendar?I tried it today at work and my version of lightning is 0.9, the calendar option was greyed out and a note to the side said it was compatible with 0.8. So I removed lightning 0.9 and found a 0.8 version and installed it, kept giving me compatibility errors so I never got it to work.I did realize that I could just add my google calendar page to my home screen and just use that. Beats having to sync anything.

^You can sync your google calendar using nuevasync. I use that to sync my calendar and my gmail contacts, it's great.

When are they gonna software-unlock the 3G iphone?
10/21/2008 11:31:07 PM
^ they seem to be doing just fine w/o it (although I would love to see a Verizon iPhone next year)These are amazing numbers....
10/22/2008 12:21:45 AM
Cool. This iCycle (http://www.tjware.com) can save me a lot of headaches and arguments with my girlfriend. Technology is a mutha. LOL
10/22/2008 10:48:51 AM
^^hahahaha... thats sad for the other mobile phone manufacturers that they've been surpassed by someone who only makes 1 phone.I guess the 450 layoffs in RTP happened for a reason. FAIL

John Gruber at DaringFireball is pulling out all the articles from 2007 predicting the death or failure of the iPhone.
10/22/2008 2:18:13 PM
A lot of people are really tech-luddites.Notice all those people are executives, and writers. You won't find many common folks, designers, or researchers who thought the iphone would be anything but a wild success. Especially when the finally folded into the subsidized model. That seriously hampered sales of the 1G iphone
10/22/2008 2:25:54 PM
D'OH
10/22/2008 2:27:10 PM
^^ executives and writers, sure, but certainly you cannot call Dvorak and Steve Ballmer luddites. Of course they both (more so Ballmer) have a vested interest in hoping for the death or non-success of the iPhone, but their comments were still amazingly un-insightful

it's like all those people who couldn't open their eyes and realize that blu-ray was going to win out over HD-DVD
10/22/2008 3:44:52 PM
^actually no...nothing like that....bad analogy.

So what are some of your favorite apps?
10/23/2008 3:19:13 AM
Honestly, before 3G and the AppStore, I wasnt on the bandwagon. I hate the phone when it is on edge, and in my opinion, its not very useful at that point. I dont think any of these execs had any idea how explosive and important the appstore would be, or how much an improvement 3G made to the phone.I know people that have the 2G version still like the phone, but for me to use the phone, 2G was insufficient.
10/24/2008 11:33:12 AM
^Yep, I think your sentiments carry for like 95% of the user base. Without 3G the iPhone would be marginal. Without the AppStore, it would be pretty even competition with the rest of the smartphone market.
10/24/2008 2:26:47 PM
i still have but a 2G, and I still love it. i'm sure once i get the 3G i'll never be able to go back, but in the meantime, i'm still a pretty happy customer
10/24/2008 2:29:14 PM
first generation iphones were 2.5G or edgeall these g's always screwin ppl up
10/24/2008 2:33:19 PM
eh i'm beginning to realize i like having an ipod touch AND a WM phone. If i simply had an iPhone i would kill the battery and not have a phone. Now i can use my ipod, kill the battery, and still have a full charge on my phone. Now if only i could tether my phone to my ipod to get 3g anywhere. Someone needs to hack the nike thing on the 2g touch to tether over bluetooth to my WM phone for internet.
10/24/2008 3:07:41 PM
10/24/2008 3:16:43 PM
hehe, I'm sure I've screwed it up a few times somewhere
10/24/2008 3:52:11 PM
I call them 1G and 3Gfirst generation iPhone, and 3G network iPhoneyou know, just to add some more confusion to the mix
10/24/2008 6:19:36 PM
Of course you can call them the 1g iphone and the 2g iphone. For first and second generation.
10/24/2008 6:37:56 PM
there is no 2G. It's like Office 2000 and 2003, when neither came out in that year. ITS A CONSPIRACYiPhone 1G, iPhone 3G

n00b question alert. But is there a way to store your App store username/password? I hate having to enter that shit in everytime I want a new app. I know it keeps it cached if you enter it in and download apps, but once you exit out of the App store it doesnt store the credentials
10/27/2008 7:07:13 PM
I got google earth today, very cool
10/27/2008 7:22:42 PM
haven't read the last few pages but every since the last update, i get phantom vibrates and text noises 5 minutes after i get a text. this makes me
10/27/2008 8:20:17 PM
^ummm its a feature dude. If you get a text and you don't look at it (i.e. leaving it on the home locked screen) it will keep reminding you until you acknowledge you have a txt.
