Scarves on men is fucking hot. If a man can rock a scarf he's a keeper in my book.
12/11/2008 5:24:32 PM
Ok, definitely need a picture of the dress
12/11/2008 5:24:43 PM
Shouldn't be worn like this anyway.
12/11/2008 5:24:45 PM

12/11/2008 5:27:32 PM
Yes, plz
12/11/2008 5:30:42 PM
i don't wear a scarf very often because it's not cold enough in atlanta - but when i'm somewhere that it is cold enough i wear it like ^there is nothing feminine about scarves unless you've never left raleigh i guess
12/11/2008 5:36:36 PM
The real lamo trend is men wearing berets. I've seen a few lately and it's really kinda gay.
12/11/2008 6:05:46 PM
i just won this off of ebay. even though i promised cody i wouldn't play on there until at least after christmas and
12/11/2008 6:08:50 PM
i love that dressi should really try out e-bay or other sites. DO you like or find good stuff shopping there?
12/11/2008 6:10:34 PM
OMG I'm such a scarf whore. I wear one like everyday.I love the new trend of the square scarves being draped around your neck, although I don't think I can pull it off.If it's a wide scarf I just wear it like ole David up there.
12/12/2008 10:56:33 AM
^^i find the awesomest stuff on ebay. but im real picky and only get certain things i think i may do a little now.....lets see here...[Edited on December 15, 2008 at 2:03 PM. Reason : kmlm]
12/15/2008 1:58:39 PM
elkaybie, picture of the dress, plz. i want to like the big pearl shoes you like, but they are just a touch dated. but i'd like to see the dress to see them together.Joie, cute dress!
12/15/2008 3:01:11 PM
The closed to is too "heavy" for the dress if that makes sense. You really really really need a more open shoe.
12/15/2008 3:26:33 PM
Yeah, I was thinking that for a wedding dress, they'd probably be too heavy. Those shoes seem like a statement piece - super simple outfit for shoes so intense.
12/15/2008 3:34:29 PM
I've bagged the shoes b/c of the heel height. I can't justify spending that much money on shoes that are 3/4'' too tall for what my dress was measured for, and I can't alter the length of my dress once it arrives.
12/15/2008 3:38:08 PM
SO WE CAN LOOK FOR MORE?!?!?!?!?OMG I have something to do tomorrow?!?!?!
12/15/2008 3:40:10 PM
yes look for 3 1/4'' heels, size 8.5, open toed in brown, bronze, champagne, olive or blue shoes
12/15/2008 3:41:28 PM
I'd hug you if I could I just put it on my task list
12/15/2008 3:42:44 PM
are there places that like, completely alter wedding dresses. like maybe even just use the fabric from a dress and turn it into something different?not just like taking your mom's 1970s dress and making it strapless, but like taking a big poofy dress and turning it into not a big poofy dress? i know they can do amazing things because i've had a dress altered before like they took sleeves off of it and stuff, but that is different than like making another dress out of an existing dress.p.s. i think if i ever get married i'm going to be totally disgusting and wear shoes like this under my dressOOPS. i just want to be comfortable enough to get my party on. and i'm sure no matter what shoes i wear i'd end up taking them off. eh, you win some you lose some. (i usually lose a lot).[Edited on December 15, 2008 at 3:46 PM. Reason : .]
12/15/2008 3:43:58 PM
If the tailor is good they should be able to deconstruct the dress and reconstruct it how ever you'd like, pending there's enough fabric and whatnot.I miss my sewing machine.
12/15/2008 3:46:13 PM
ooooh. because see i have this dress that i told my parents i'd wear for my wedding. this is how i convinced them to purchase it (deb dress, hold the comments hahaha).and now i look at it and i'm like "barf" but it is really really pretty, just not my style anymore. i'll probably either sell it or use the fabric. it hurts me because it is pretty and timeless i just don't like it anymore for ME. but someone else would prob like it. when i got it the place (enchanting moments in fuquay) altered it so much, it is like totally personalized to me so i don't even know if someone else would want it.but it is big and poofy and has lots of fabric. if they could depoof it, i might like it better. i really like the jcrew dresses. that is a side note
12/15/2008 3:48:28 PM
I love the new luggage from Jcrew...but I'm not a bazillionaire so it doesn't matter Their dresses are very cute and simple. Sadly I'm not simple nor skinny/flat chested so I can't wear them.
12/15/2008 3:51:19 PM
12/15/2008 3:53:14 PM
Oh I thought she meant DEB the store Deb...those are fun and I always wanted to be one [Edited on December 15, 2008 at 3:55 PM. Reason : e]
12/15/2008 3:54:23 PM
Aha, I thought she was talking about the store too, Divababy.khcadwal, if you find a damn good seamstress/tailor, they should be able to do wonders with that dress. do lots and lots of research and see what you can find (whenever the wedding time nears - but give yourself and the tailor lots of time to get it done).
12/15/2008 3:59:40 PM
12/15/2008 10:27:56 PM
I refuse to even look for/at dresses for myself until I've lost [number] of pounds.
12/15/2008 10:30:20 PM
yea i'm not even engaged i just like looking hahaha. i mean at pictures. not trying one on. i would kill myself.
12/15/2008 10:35:17 PM
okay i found the thread finally!!as you may or may not have seen in the lounge engagement thread, Fumbler and i are now engaged. i'm a little panicky over the dress. i don't like dresses. i don't look at wedding dresses and ball gowns and stuff and think "oooohh that's sooo pretty!!!" that said, i will need a wedding dress. i want it to be informal/casual-ish b/c i will be barefoot and outside. it seems like 99% of all the dresses are strapless, which i am NOT doing. also something to take into consideration, i have a scar from surgery that runs from just under my collar bone almost to the bottom of my sternum and i'd rather not pick something that has a deep plunging next line that shows it off. the scar did not heal super great and it's still pink on the top half.i have no idea of a budget yet, but i just don't believe in paying a shit ton for a dress i will wear for one day.HALP!!
12/16/2008 8:29:58 AM
Congrats, se7entythree on the engagement!I don't have a ton of time to look, but when you were describing your surgery and scar, you reminded me of myself - I had open heart surgery in third grade, so i have a scar that goes from a bit below my collarbones to my sternum as well. I've thought about the full halter styles. J Crew actually has dresses that might hide that general area, and aren't too terribly expensive (I guess?).$395$695$795]
12/16/2008 8:38:52 AM
oh, i dont want to have all of my back exposed either. i guess i'm modest. no sleeves though, that looks terrible.
12/16/2008 8:58:18 AM
sounds like something like the boat neck (like the jeweled one) might be your best bet. and honestly, since you want something simple and fairly casual, at least on the wedding dress scale, you best bet might be to find a dressmaker. go to somewhere like mary jo's (in gastonia) - largest fabric store in the SE, find a nice fabric, have it made into whatever simple cut you're looking for.
12/16/2008 9:01:07 AM
Try someplace like David's Bridal since you're not overly concerned about your dress. Here are a few that I like. The first one is on sale!!! The second is a cute style that would be fun barefoot. (the pictures won't hotlink)http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridal_gowns_detail.jsp?sfc=164&sp=sales&pid=3986http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridal_gowns_detail.jsp?stid=3744&prodgroup=10

Yea Jcrew has stepped their game up since they added Jenna Lyons to the group. That's such a cute dress (wedding or not)
12/16/2008 9:30:00 AM
yeah, i'm pleasantly surprised with j crew's bridal and general selection. i never really paid a lot of attention to them before, but now... yes plz.
12/16/2008 9:35:26 AM
Their collection really took a dive until about 2003ish. They started to bring the quality back to their clothing. I like them because they take the classics and have fun and they're not afraid of color...which I lurve.
12/16/2008 9:45:55 AM
I have a question for the ladies. How do you feel about having sex while on your period? I did not read this whole long ass thread so if it is in here, I apologize.
12/16/2008 9:59:02 AM
Well punchmonkey (If I may call you that), it is pretty great. If you're not one to get grossed out by that sort of thing. If you have cramps, it's way better than some advil haha. Just lay a towel down or holler at the shower. (There's a thread on this I believe).Also....thanks for killing the dress convo
12/16/2008 10:01:09 AM
I definitely am a shower or go without girl, I hate looking down at what could be a murder scene.Seeing blood in any form makes me woozy Can we talk about cute guys and scarves now? HOT]
12/16/2008 10:05:53 AM
Thanks for the response DB...I am sorry for being the convo killer. I should read this thread. I have done it before and I just did not enjoy it. I thought it would def take cramps away bc I heard that before it did not. I get so horny when I am on my period too. I think I am very grossed out when my blood is on his peen. I am not a dirty girl so I have a hard time with it.AlsoI really do think that men and scarves are SO HAWT!!!! I just love it. I think to many men think it may be to metro or homosexual. I am like grrrrrr!!!
