^Then that guy is the proverbial cock sucker
11/8/2005 11:39:24 AM
I really think this thread has progressed past the point of posting hands where AA lost.
11/8/2005 12:04:07 PM
Sorry, just pissed me off in the way that AA lost. Would it make it better if I ask what I did wrong, or how you would've played the hand?
11/8/2005 12:06:29 PM
i lost to Kh2h with AA called my preflop raises aswell. fished the flush even after i slightly overbet the pot each time to try and ruin flushdraw odds.
11/8/2005 1:17:13 PM
so im thinking of playing in the 20+2 deep stacks pot limit omaha tournament tonight5000 starting chips, 30 minute blind levels, start at 10/20 like normal poker stars tournaments.the only thing is, i dont know if i want to commit 10+ hours to it
11/8/2005 3:05:44 PM
i love pl omaha.
11/8/2005 3:09:59 PM
psssssssssssttit appears as if the 20+2 180 player sngs on stars are permanent.lemme just say one word, juicy.
11/8/2005 3:17:35 PM
i really am going to have to open up an account on that site, pp has no omaha tournaments, you are talking straight high right, not split?any stud hi/lo tourneys on stars? ooc
11/8/2005 3:19:48 PM
there are daily 10+1, 20+2, 30+3, and 100+9 with the occasional 200+10 plo hi tournaments on starsthe 20+2 deep stack today is plo hi.and yes, they do have 7cs8 tournaments occasionally, but rarely over like $10+1ive played a few of them, they are pretty nice.if you can play a somewhat competent plo game, the 20+2 tournament is so soft its unbelievable, im over 80% in the moneyand the tournament structure is much better than party, you start with 1500 chips for one thing[Edited on November 8, 2005 at 3:25 PM. Reason : e][Edited on November 8, 2005 at 3:25 PM. Reason : e]
11/8/2005 3:24:13 PM
pp has no diversity when it comes to tournaments
11/8/2005 3:25:31 PM
i really like stars alot.their ring games can be rather tough though.(im trying to sat into the 500k tournament right now on stars)
11/8/2005 3:30:22 PM
yea, i can't complain about the cash games on pp...i really have been meaning to branch out to stars and paradise, i think what you just told me is enough motivation to actually do it
11/8/2005 3:31:23 PM
id rather impale myself than play paradise again.no matter how good the games are.
11/8/2005 3:33:21 PM
really why's that? i heard they had a pretty good bonus program, no?
11/8/2005 3:33:58 PM
paradise?its like a $50 bonus for signup, then your pso promo also.the software is probably the worst in the industry, esp after they bogged down themselves like crazy with a fuckton of freerolls.(like the "millioin dollar freeroll") thing
11/8/2005 3:36:23 PM
dzags18 it's not that you played it wrong, it's just a mundane hand. AA gets cracked all the time, it's that simple. There was no way you were possibly going to win that hand because that guy was not folding at any point in the hand. You bet it right and he called you down and caught. It's the nature of limit poker, and sometimes no-limit. Honestly the only stupid call he made the whole time was the $2 call of your initial bet preflop. Look at it this way.He is in the BB for $1 and decides to call $3 with a hand that is obviously an underdog to whatever people are raising with. This is stupid and a poor play over time. The next call he makes is only for $1 preflop, which is the correct call at that point considering he is calling $1 to win $12.After the flop he does the smart thing and bets his pair to see if it's good. He get's reraised, but only $1 more, so now he has to call $1 to win $16. At this point he might even think he has the best hand and you are betting up AK.On the turn, he turns an inside straight draw. Not a huge improvement, but if he still thinks you have AK then he is definitely still ahead. Even if he is behind, unless you are wielding JJ then he has a shit ton of outs (7,9, or 10). So now he is calling $2 to win $20.The river gives him 2 pair, and you are beat. Yes you bet it right, and yes he got lucky. I am sure the guy was an idiot, but his logic wasn't that far off from being correct. AA is not unbeatable, especially in limit poker where people chase like motherfuckers. It's the nature of the beast. You had no way of winning this hand.
11/8/2005 4:59:55 PM
Damn, thats pretty shitty the way Raymer got knocked out. That fucking online player drew out with nothing on the flop just like he was playing online to knock out the defending champ.
11/8/2005 10:27:32 PM
^^ I know that, it just annoyed me, was just a stupid call on his part but what can you do.. I met up with him later and took most of my money back. I know AA will not always win, I hate playing it, especially in limit where its hard to see how strong it is. I got beat again later once when a guy stayed in with a gutshot straight draw (I think 10 high, he was holding the evil 7 9 again). I later drew AA again and got into a pot with the same guy, he had JJ and caught the J on the turn Oh well, nothing you can do, thats online poker for you.
11/8/2005 11:06:46 PM
^^ that guy called with shitty hands all night and managed to suck out. i'm glad he doesn't win
11/8/2005 11:15:20 PM
^ I concur. In other news Mike Matasow is no longer the biggest douchebag at the table. The honor belong to "The Sheik," who managed to:1) Get into a pissing contest with Mike (lame)2) Trash talk about Mike's awful calls, seeing as his plays were far worse. (very lame)3) Trash Talk with the low stack (ultra lame)Mike's got a big mouth and bigger ego, but he's playing 100 times better poker than most of these guys. The old maxim holds true: It ain't trash talking if you back it up.[Edited on November 9, 2005 at 12:29 AM. Reason : How the hell does Dannerman finish 2nd....]
11/9/2005 12:28:57 AM
Dude I disagree. Mike is the absolute biggest asshole in the world. I thought the comment the announcer made about him and Helmuth being as different as night and... late evening was funny as shit. I do like Helmuth a lot though, but I would like to punch Matusow in the teeth.
11/9/2005 12:31:16 PM
yeah i don't like mike very much either, but i like him a lot better than that sheik fucker. at least mike is funny when he's being a dick. this guy is just petty and a piece of shitthe best line i heard was sheik saying "don't touch my chips, mike" and mike replying "shut up"
11/9/2005 1:17:23 PM
I'm betting mike just uses it as a total mind game, and it completely got to shiek. He whispered something into shiek's ear when he lost, and I'm betting it was something positive. When you have that much control over someone's emotions, you can fuck with their game by making it personal.
11/9/2005 2:25:30 PM
but it was never shiek goin after mike.. it was mike callin shiek
11/9/2005 2:40:39 PM
more poker stories instead of opinion
11/9/2005 2:44:56 PM
more stories as long as they aren't just hand histories copied and pasted. those things are a pain in the ass to schlog through[Edited on November 9, 2005 at 2:59 PM. Reason : v]
11/9/2005 2:58:03 PM
ill take mike over hellmuths whiny ass any day, that guy is so fucking annoying
11/9/2005 3:00:24 PM
Im beginning to feel like I have developed a new 6th sense.I can visualize the card on my screen before it hits on the river. The problem isit only works when Im all in,and I only seem to see the 1-3 cards in the deck that will bust me out of a tournament in huge pots.
11/9/2005 3:22:26 PM
11/9/2005 4:17:12 PM
Yeah I think we discussed that hand in this very thread. I remember crunching the numbers on Excel.
11/9/2005 4:52:20 PM
^^ I was dealt pocket kings twice on absolute, both times club/spade, flop came AQ8 (I don't rememebr the suits, but it was the same both times) for both... CONSPIRACY

Here's an early decision I took my time on in a $10+1 tourney on PP:
11/9/2005 8:53:17 PM
i don't know what he has, but i'm sure it was more than you.
11/9/2005 10:02:33 PM
bodog sit and go, knock the guy out on the 3rd hand of the 2nd level.got some awesome breaks. 4 of a kind, after the guy was bluffin a set of 7s(I started with 72 suited and an unraised BB)flopped 2 sets which turned into full houses(on shit hands by the way)last hand I got dealt J2 off suit, called the guys small raise. my chips: 1300his: 700flop: JJ9he raises 60, I callturn: 2he bets 60, I call hoping for a reraise on riverriver:4he bets 120, i reraise another 120, he rerasies 120, I put him all-in, slightly worried that he has a better full house, but I can make up for it later if I lose.he calls and flips em over, JQ....money in my pocketI am not the best player in the world, but when you get dealt gifts like that, it makes up for getting bodogged in the normal tables.
11/10/2005 2:12:40 PM
just finished 2nd in a 10 player PL hold 'em sng. me and this guy went heads up for like 25 minutes. he finally busted me with unraised pocket queens after i hit a jack on the flop with KJ. oh well
11/10/2005 4:32:18 PM
8 straight tournament busts by gutshots on the river.im seriously thinking i can see the cards before they come.only the ones that break me.oh, and another bubbler
11/10/2005 4:34:39 PM
^play ring games I been knocking the crap outta shitty european players all afternoon despite getting burned by 3 miracle gutshots/runner-runner-flushes, each for at least E75
11/10/2005 5:00:48 PM

11/10/2005 6:17:33 PM
