my stupid freaking cable box messed up half the show so i missed a ton of dialogue. i knew a lot of what was being said, but then again, they're making so many departures from the books so i could be way off.

That episode was awesome. I got a hard-on watching Dany get all bad-ass. That's easily the hottest she's been this entire show.

It's blindingly obvious. The only unrealistic part was the original master not seeing it coming. So you're giving me an army which will obey my every word and I'll be in the middle of your city with that army and my dragons?
4/22/2013 1:14:47 PM
i guess the dude became distracted by the idea of having a dragon
4/22/2013 1:59:09 PM
maybe he figured once he had the dragon's "whip" he could control the dragon??Like when Dany says ~"dragons aren't slaves"
4/22/2013 4:26:01 PM
The thing I didn't get with the Theon part was that he was running away from whoever was torturing him's forces, and get unhorsed and then homeboy shows up with a bow and downs the guys that were pursuing him, only to turn him in to the same people? Why did the guy kill the other pusuers? To get all the glory for capturing him by himself? I guess he led Theon to a different dungeon, or was it a back tunnel into the original? Seems like he would have known he was headed opposite of the way they told him to go find his sister.
4/22/2013 5:14:15 PM
^The second place they went to was Deepwood Motte, def not the same place as Theon was originally being tortured.

Well, obviously that guy is a whacko, that's why

IMDB has named the character, if you all are interested in that spoiler (for those who haven't read the books)

I thought it was to get Theon to tell him whether the stark boys were still alive

SPOILERSJust watched it and OH MY GOD! I knew the Khaleesi was going to burn that city but I didn't realize she would do it in such a bad ass way! This show just keeps getting better. I wish they released it all at once like Netflix, then again I don't think I would go to sleep tonight if they did that.[Edited on April 23, 2013 at 1:00 AM. Reason : .]

It's traditional when using SPOILERS, to actually, you know, post a spoiler.
4/23/2013 6:53:14 AM
Oh god, are we bitching about spoilers NOT being posted in this thread now?

Without a doubt, one of the coolest scenes in the series so far.[Edited on April 23, 2013 at 11:51 AM. Reason : .]
4/23/2013 11:44:08 AM
Yeah, I can't say enough about how good that scene was. I've read the books, and I've probably read and reread that particular scene 20 times. I was still breathless throughout that whole sequence. They really nailed it. More of that director please.

to anyone that hasn't watched the show that is a spoiler.... Or are spoilers used differently here?[Edited on April 23, 2013 at 3:32 PM. Reason : .]

I think it's pretty much assumed that if you haven't watched the show but are reading a thread about the discussion of the show, you're stupid if you read a spoiler and then complain about it
4/23/2013 3:37:43 PM
in talking with some people today the question came up of who legitimately has the best claim to the throne. what say all you?

Not Daenerys. No woman has ever sat the Iron Throne, and she can't bear children, so what happens when she dies, should she ever claim it?I vote Stannis. I would vote for others, but SPOILERSZZZZ!?!

Speculation doesn't need facts. But watch the show. She's going to marry Joffrey so she can be queen. Then she's going to have him killed somehow.

"When the sun rises in the west and sets in the east, when the seas go dry and the mountains blow in the wind like leaves. When your womb quickens again, and you bear a living child. Then he (Khal Drogo) will return, and not before."
4/23/2013 5:14:10 PM
^^i'm sorry I didn't remember exactly what was said TWO SEASONS AGO. I just remembered ^ in reference to Khal and not that she couldn't ever bear children. Then I got distracted by dragons.

wouldn't blacksmith guy have a claim on it before Stannis?
4/24/2013 9:45:03 PM
Stannis was Robert's older brother, so he has more claim than a bastard, who doesn't even realize he's Robert's son. That was his point when Renly tried to proclaim himself king.
4/24/2013 10:16:23 PM
^^Bastards never have a very good claim to the throne. Gendry is one of Robert's many bastard children, most of whom were murdered back in I believe season one (but it might've been season two).As someone earlier said, the people with the two most legitimate claims to the throne are Dany and Stannis. Stannis, being Robert's last living brother, has the most legitimate claim if you consider Robert's Rebellion to have been legitimate, Dany's is the most legitimate if you don't (being the last known living Targaryen, who controlled the throne before Robert took it). But just as Robert won the throne with a war, the Lannisters and Tyrells have themselves won the throne with the recent war. So the legitimacy of claims sort of goes out the window at that point.
4/24/2013 10:23:28 PM
That's not right. Bastards don't have better claims than their legitimate siblings, but kingship passes linearly through sons. Roberts bastard children would have better claims to the throne than his brother would.
