I got my first level 70 recently, a barb.I think I have my gear wrong, too much toughness (considering I don't have a lot of awesome gear) and not enough damage. I don't have a lot experience with endgame D3 so I don't know if I have a great frame of reference, but it takes me forever to kill enemies on master or even expert despite rarely being in danger of dying, and there's absolutely no chance for me to kill a treasure demon before they get away.
4/5/2014 12:35:35 AM
Nephalem Rifts are fun.^ What are your damage and life stats?
4/5/2014 1:34:03 AM
Unbuffed 167k Damage and 4.8 million ToughnessLately I always have battle rage and war cry up which brings me up to 190k and 6 million.
4/5/2014 9:14:58 AM
You need to do bounty runs and rifts and pay attention to every yellow drop and think about what can be re-rolled on it to make it a good item.
4/5/2014 9:56:50 AM
if you buff your toughness more it isnt a bad set of stats for early endgame. like i said early, i'm at around 150-200kdps with 11k toughness. its just a different way to play. I did much of act 5 on torment 1 from lvl 60 without major issue, even though it took forever. if you roll with friends and use a lot of taunting or suck in skills, its pretty swell in fact.
4/5/2014 10:57:40 AM
I've adjusted my skills to what's probably a little unorthodox but it seems to work for me better than a more standard build. I don't use any fury, most of my damage comes from cleave. Got revenge on my left click for some added burst damage occasionally.Passives are Boon to cut Rage cooldowns, Brawler to give extra dmg when surrounded, berserker rage to do extra damage at full fury, and unforgiving to keep my fury at max.Actives are battle rage and war cry for buffing my stats, call of the ancients (I can have them active half of the time) and Wrath of the Berserker. It's a little more boring than how I was playing before, but I can kill things faster now.[Edited on April 5, 2014 at 11:48 AM. 4/5/2014 11:47:25 AM
No fury usage isnt that out there. I run similar passives on my tanky spec. I then use frenzy+smite, rend+lifesteal, leap+armor boost, avalanche volcano for burst, a shout of my choice, and call of ancients. Tons of tankiness with ok dmg now and then from volcano. Sux to not shorten avalanche times due to no fury use but i feel like it still does more than overpower.Ur right that it is def more boring than my all fire ranged build or all lughtning build but those were very gear depedent at the time. Thats why i like the new gear affixes.[Edited on April 5, 2014 at 12:44 PM. Reason : .]

upcoming patch notes that were datamined.http://www.diablofans.com/news/48018-diablo-3-reaper-of-souls-first-patch-2-0-4looks like barb, witch doctor, and crusader getting a buff
4/7/2014 8:19:55 AM
Holy Hell. Those WD numbers can't be right.
4/7/2014 8:26:42 AM
I would expect those are correct. WD feels incredibly weak right now, even with a relatively appropriate amount of damage
4/7/2014 8:29:09 AM
I mean, I wouldn't complain if they're right. I do love my WD. it just looks really high, especially since most of what is buffed is just their primary attack.
4/7/2014 8:50:59 AM
The WD can use the buff; the damage from poison dart is awful compared to similar skills. I don't really use corpse spiders much, but the haunt buff is really helpful. It cost too much mana for a DoT. A little shocked they buffed Pyrogeist, it was already pretty strong. I'm at paragon 108, with 498k in base damage, 5M toughness, and 7800 total int, and my gear is pretty decent. 5 stacks of Soul Harvest put my damage at 545k, and with a few stacks from Gruesome Feast I can get my base damage up above 600k, but it's not sustained. I'm running around using one of several variations on this build: http://www.diablofans.com/forums/diablo-iii-class-forums/witch-doctor-the-mbwiru-eikura/83490-angry-wet-bears-never-enough-bears-a-buildI'd really like to complete the Zunimassa set so I can go run some crazy Fetish build. Non-despawning fetishes ftw!
4/7/2014 8:58:03 AM
I was using corpse spiders after I got a couple pieces of gear that buffed it. I'm only sitting at around 230k damage though. Hopefully it will enable the corpse spiders to be a viable option, but I may try out the build you linked
4/7/2014 9:15:35 AM
i didn't feel like WD was that bad, but that's probably because the aforementioned barbarian is my main. then again i generally roll with a group so i dont mind if my chars are weak.
4/7/2014 9:51:21 AM
I've also started getting really good loot out of rifts since the drop rate buff. A noticeable increase.
4/7/2014 9:58:59 AM
i did the act V chest run on T6 last night (abandoned siege camp) for exactly 1 hour and got 4 legendaries. I guess chest runs aren't nerfed quite so bad yet, but i gotta say its definitely boring as hell and i probably won't do it anymore.
4/7/2014 10:15:54 AM
The buffs to main attacks don't surprise me. All of them other than Pyrogeist are mostly useless. I don't think I've run into a single WD using a standard ability yet. Then again, I haven't run into many WD. I started with Spiders for the mana regen, but that wasn't worth it. Then I moved to Rain of Toads to spawn Sycophants and just take advantage of Life On Hit and live forever (but do no Dmg). Probably would do better with a DoT/Pet build (WTB those helms!).I've been trying to main WD and my numbers are around Sayer's (excluding being only Paragon 80). In groups, the basic feeling I get is being mostly worthless for trash other than pulling them in with piranhas. Things die before the 1-2s cast animation for every direct-damage AE WD ability can go off. No use at all in DoTing them. Then on elites I drop rain dance and go to town using PileOn/Bears. Seems to work OK, but its so mana intensive I need gear with mana regen and half of my skills deal with returning mana in one way or another. I'm wondering if Spiritual Attunement is better than Rush of Essence for those purposes. Grave Injustice seems mandatory with such a build, so I'm wondering if I should equip my Avarice Band to go nuts with the Radius buff. It will probably work a lot better with improved gear, I just wish the main nukes didn't have ridiculous animations that delay them 1-2 seconds making it hard to aim. Maybe I'll try Pyrogeist. Then again, I've been mostly running Normal recently which is just running with pets and Locust Swarm through everything (with occasional SB/Phantasm).
4/7/2014 10:57:50 AM
^^ yeah, with a solid group doing t2/t3 we were clearing 5-6 rifts an hour and getting 10-12 legs that way[Edited on April 7, 2014 at 11:04 AM. Reason : granted i got 10 weapons...]
4/7/2014 11:04:27 AM
I like running rifts, but there's something about doing the bounties and getting that chest after clearing an Act. It's like crack-cocaine to me
4/7/2014 11:11:51 AM
I feel like I can do decent damage as a WD in my build, but it requires really good placement of my Paranado so I pull in 5+ enemies, hit Soul Harvest, then just Bears til the pack is gone. Mana is my biggest issue; it runs out too fast. If I've got enough targets, I'll Haunt a few of them to get my mana return going.
4/7/2014 11:26:07 AM
i guess i am the lone lazy WD using pyroblast (i switch up the runes) since i had a few pieces of gear that added 12-13% dmg to it a piece. i also have a few legendaries (the 2hd sword, and cindercoat) which can boost fire dmg by 20%. works fine in master, at least, even if im not tearing through everything. now that im 70, ill probably want to switch to something useful again.
4/7/2014 11:30:50 AM
i think the bounty caches are nice.i wish they would include the rift bosses to drop a forgotten soul 100% of the time at least with a chance of getting a legendary in its place.as it is the past 5 or 6 runs gave me nothing from the rift bosses.but its a nice way to bump characters in levels fast.
4/7/2014 11:31:02 AM
better yet, put those lightning obelisks in front of every rift boss. nothing quite like killing it in 1 second.
4/7/2014 11:37:43 AM
especially if its cold snap
4/7/2014 12:08:42 PM
Enjoying the changes to Crusader.
4/8/2014 8:25:24 PM
So there was a bug with yesterdays patch where the Captain American shield throw the crusader had could ricochet and kill the crusader or other players in the game.I nearly killed my hardcore crusader twice before checking the forums. Also, dont know if its intended or not, but all pets now get 100% benefit from your crit hit damage. My WD's gargantuan is now critting for over 6 million. This also applies to demon hunter pets and sentries.
4/9/2014 9:13:13 AM
Going to have to be patched somehow. People have pets hitting for like 150 mil damage.
4/9/2014 9:44:49 AM
i found a moonlight ward last night and was so excited till i found out it was supposedly nerfed.it still makes for a fun as hell T1 farming/tanking build though. a nice break from FO spamming.
4/9/2014 10:17:37 AM
I've got 3 level 70s now, but every time I even think about grinding bounties and rifts for hours to get incremental gear upgrades I get extremely weary. I'll do one chapter of bounties and one rift because it's fun to blast through enemies with my max character, but I can't commit to the grind.I really enjoy this game, but I guess I can't enjoy the endgame content as much as most fans.
4/14/2014 11:19:14 PM
folks are just getting tired of dry spells in gear finding. there's nothing worse than finally seeing a set chest drop and ID'ing your 3rd blackthorne's.
4/15/2014 9:07:02 AM
i dont see how those folks could be surprised. that's all diablo ever was, save for grinding slowly a few more lvls, but you can do that with paragon levels.
4/15/2014 9:13:26 AM
being able to trade would fix all of that
4/15/2014 9:15:58 AM
Yeah the end game appeal has hit it's wall for me.I love this game, but I've got a tough time getting motivated to grind for a gear upgrade when the only stuff I need is just 3 different slots.
4/15/2014 9:54:06 AM
Fun to jump in and do a rift or some bounties but there is no longer term appeal. No real endgame, and blizzard can't decide if they want to appeal to the hardcore player or the casual player. So they are doing this between thing that just makes neither side happy.
4/15/2014 10:13:36 AM
you just nailed the entire blizzard strategy.find some awkward inbetween ground for players that ends up pissing both off.also the only way i can stand the grind is usually by sitting in skype/mumble shooting the shit while playing. the higher end rifts only seem to be any type of problem with the rift guardian taking forever to kill cause of the insane amount of hp, or the graveyard where packs seem to clump together.[Edited on April 15, 2014 at 10:41 AM. Reason : dat grind]
4/15/2014 10:38:31 AM
I'll run a few rounds with one of my 70's and then log onto another toon to run a few more. Keeps things fresh having different playstyles.
4/15/2014 11:03:53 AM
So I finally bought the expansion and got my DH to 70. I had a few questions.-Seems the best way to gear up quickly is join public bounty run games where people split up and do Act I bounties right?-My first few bounty runs I got 5 or so caches and 3 dropped legendaries, only 1 of which was an upgrade, RNG again I guess as my next 4 dropped none.-I had a legendary 2h Bow drop in world, I had read something that if one person gets a leg drop then all the players can port to them and there is one for them also? Is that true or am I missunderstanding it.-Seems the only 2 real things to do are bounty runs and rifts, that about sum it up?
4/15/2014 2:44:32 PM
4/15/2014 4:26:57 PM
started doing the rift it forward groups.if i don't have a lot of time to play i can just join others. and if i have more time i run some rifts and add people at the boss to get free followup runs.
4/23/2014 12:39:16 PM
So now that exams are done, I was able to finish RoS and am able to do the bounty runs. Are they worth doing on Torment and above? More aptly, are the blood shards rewards better on higher levels?
5/12/2014 5:14:08 PM
don't think so, but someone can correct me if I'm wrong. I thought people ran normals to accumulate those things and then went and rifted in torment to get the phat lewtz. I played a good bit of the expansion, but I just all of the sudden burned out (perhaps b/c my wrist was hurting and ...well D3 ain't good with that). I'll keep it around as a filler game though.
5/12/2014 5:19:16 PM
Until this next patch there is no real reason to run bounties on anything higher than normal except for the chance that something you kill drops a set item while doing one of the bounties. But most of the time you are killing trash mobs or just running by stuff so the extra time to do it on a higher level vs. the drop isn't worth it. The patch should change that.
5/12/2014 5:46:46 PM
That isn't something that is looking to drop tomorrow or anything is it?Also, thanks for all of the help trying to sort this out.
5/12/2014 6:32:17 PM
5/13/2014 8:23:37 AM
hey i got a ring of royal grandeur.now i just need sets to go with it
5/13/2014 10:06:36 AM
After reading through the patch notes, I don't see anything indicating the shard change at this time.
5/13/2014 10:29:22 AM
So I decided to get back into the game after about a 2 week hiatus. Previously I've had no issues with the game, but this time the lag was bad and the game crashed 3 times in an hour. Done.
5/14/2014 9:29:58 PM
but..
5/14/2014 9:45:22 PM
So, I've been at this Bounty/Rifting thing for all of three days now, but I seem to be getting better drops (recipes, legendaries, and the occasional upgrade) from being able to burn through Bountys on Normal than trying to slog through a 30-40 min T1 Rift. Maybe it's because my gear sucks? I have two 2200dps 1h xbows, 4mil toughness and my damage varies a bunch due to spec (ES:CA). I also have no idea as to where to allocate paragon points.
