he's becoming one of the biggest offenders in the prem. I don't remember him being like that for Villa, but maybe I just didn't see enough of him.

** LOL, Nani for Ashley Young. Couldn't think of a more fitting sub.

And there's one of the many penalties at old trafford that they don't get too. it goes both ways. that was a clear handball

I'm a big proponent of calls generally even out over the course of a long season. I certainly don't think they are biased. I just have a hard time reconciling how outspoken SAF has been against diving in the past to the point of being contentious with other managers and then seeing how his team flail and dive as bad as anyone in recent years (really since Ronaldo).

Maybe I just didn't watch as much, but I don't remember his late 90's/early 00's teams diving nearly as much.

And that's definitely game. Rooney with a double on an off day

this ref has had a very bad game. that was at least a yellow on given for handball outside the box

i want spurs to win, but i dont feel like they can beat liverpool in the final. however, i dont see liverpool able to beat chelski at all if they win...basically whoever wins this game better win the next.

can anyone tell me why cudicini is playing in goal for spurs? i havent been following them enough to know why friedel is out

chelsea appear to be inviting the pressure onto them and then breaking on the counter. guess they feel tottenham have the better midfield...

[Edited on April 15, 2012 at 1:34 PM. Reason : well maybe theyve reclaimed possession battle here]

wow tottenham unlucky to not be ahead, and then drogba goes off and does that. how many time has he turned a defender and thundered one in

when the entire team comes to surround you, then you have to know you made a mistake as a ref

So, can they not give the advantage AND give the red card? I don't understand that rule.

its not a red card because it didn't deny the goal scoring opportunity as they converted the opportunity. "the last defender" isn't the rule

he should still get a yellow at least. how many times do you see someone take someone out in the middle of the field but play goes on and the ref comes back and gives that player a yellow...this isnt any different

yep its disgusting. i hate that more and more players are doing this in the epl.

the players can complain about refs making bad decisions in games, but they are not helping their case by duping the refs into making these bad decisions as well

another note i meant to say earlier but forgot on lampards goal i think, but england would be stupid to hire redknapp for manager. he has clearly lost ideas on what to do to finish the season with his squad and continues to make bad tactical decisions. taking off van der vaart (for defoe) who has played well and leaving modric on was stupid. that decision caused the scoreline to be inflated much more than the game really was. modric was anonymous and did nothing out wide, and taking out one of your two good midfielders opened them up when they werent out of the game yet.

also, why is he continuing to play modric out wide. he has gone missing for a while now out there. he should prob play a triangle-esque CM formation with parker right center mid and Modric left center mid and van der vaart spearheading the CM attack in front of them slotting right behind the striker

it almost seems like bale and modric are switching off positions when one is an obvious good winger and the other an obvious good center mid...doesnt make sense

Quote :
""He must have guessed," Redknapp said. "He can't have been sure. He's just made a mistake, unfortunately. A big mistake. I spoke to him. He says he feels worse than I do. I said: 'I don't think so.' But he says he feels bad. He knows he's made a mistake and he says he'll have a bad week as well.

"The goal was a disaster, it was nowhere near a goal. I don't see how he can give the goal: it's nowhere near over the line. It's not as if it's gone in and someone's kicked it away, it's so quick. There were bodies on the line and the ball couldn't possibly get over the line. It was key. But it was an honest mistake. He's not done it on purpose.""

I'm having a hard time seeing how a ref, if hes going to guess, would give a goal rather than not give it. if its not clear cut, it would seem much safer for a ref to not give the goal cause it doesnt change the game nearly as much...especially in a close game such as this

ref should have thought about it a little more. john terry is in the goal and he does not celebrate, while you got juan mata raving around madly like he just won the world cup. i wanna like mata, too, but hes no more of a cheater by doing that than what ashley young did today

Wow. That is easily one of the absolute worst dives I have ever seen.

The only way this is ever going to be solved is looking into these flops retroactively and handing out bans.

Ashley Young auditioning for a summer move to Barcelona?

only way they can punish diving is if every league agreed to hand out the same punishments retroactively. if england is the only one punishing for diving and all those players cut it out of their game, what happens in the champions league when they're playing teams that still dive all the time?

there are those very rare occasions when all your previous dives come back to haunt you...like Drogba in the Champions League semifinal against Barca a couple years ago. Drogba's reputation probably cost Chelsea a penalty in that game, and a place in the Final.

So here's hoping that Ashley Young gets leveled in the late stages of some really crucial United game, and no penalty is given because of his past bullshitting.
