Not a surprise, for football they have a better argument then FSU.I am guessing our hopes lie with the UNC BOT insisting we are a package deal with UNC, otherwise we are stuck. Also feel like its inevitable with UT's lawsuit the SEC and B!G form their own collegiate superleague with their own championships.

Acc as it used to be was sec #2

Hopefully these court cases aren't won by Clemson and FSU and hopefully ESPN doesn't op out of the ACC contract in 2025. I want to see more championships before we are stuck trying to win the 32 team SEC Tournament.

ACC GO ON THE OFFENSIVE GET BACK USC AND MARYLAND LET'S GO

This is probably worth posting now as both the ACC and BIG 12 have approved the settlement and seems the other conferences are expected to follow:https://www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/40200280/ncaa-board-votes-accept-antitrust-settlement-sources-sayIf I'm following correctly, this would mean schools that want to stay competitive are going to need to pony up $20 million a year in extra money to pay athletes starting in 2025. Short of some emergency deal with the BIG12 and a redo of the tv contract to get on par with Big10/SEC, is there any chance for the ACC to survive that? We've already got the FSU/Clemson lawsuit. And UNC's board has randomly started rattling the saber about an upcoming athletic budget deficit, as if tons of schools don't run deficits. Seems likely they're building a narrative about why their future exit was forced on them financially.[Edited on May 23, 2024 at 12:09 PM. Reason : .]

I think the ACC is already dead. This might speed it up. But it probably won’t exist as a legitimate power conference in like 4 years. I do think you’ll see coaching salaries and maybe staff sizes decrease over time. The extravagant spending on locker room renovations and players’ lounges will be dialed back. The schools have had tons of money to spend on shit all along. They just gotta rework budgets, jack up ticket prices, etc. I do wonder if a few schools like maybe BC will eventually drop out of the upper tier of college athletics. But idk.

^ Ah, I didn't pick up on that angle of it. That makes more sense seeing how the AD seemed blindsided by it. If they're smart, they'll run with the budget as a reason to leave angle -- worked out for Maryland (sort of?). LOL.

Killing the pac-12 literally killed bill walton. I hope you're happy, SEC/B1G.
