My ipad camera doesn't work anymore. That's all.
8/5/2012 10:39:45 PM
you all were correct... they just gave me a new one. Sweet

Finally got me an iPad (the new one). Retina display on that screen size and form factor is amazing, and allows me to see the detail I could only get in prints before (it honestly it puts my 22'' 1080p Dell Ultrasharp to shame). Gonna use it as a portable portfolio for my photo and video work. Also got the camera connection kit, works as advertised and even supports RAW image import.

so is the ipad2 better than the 3? when is the 4 coming out?im not gonna read this whole thread, im just considering getting the weakest ipad2 at bestbuy.smallest storage and wifi only. i think its 16gb? more than enough for my purposes.
8/22/2012 6:55:46 PM
Look at the same web page on an ipad2 and 3. If you cant tell the difference, then get the 2. For many though the difference is well worth the extra $100
8/22/2012 9:20:01 PM
the iPad 3's screen is awesome. Easily worth the $100, IMO.
8/23/2012 9:55:13 AM
The 4 won't come out until spring most likely, although a 7 inch version is possibly coming this fall.
8/23/2012 12:18:45 PM
I like the Simpsons game.

Plus you need to take into account viewing distance. People view iPads a lot closer than monitors. A lower DPI on monitors is much less noticeable than on a handheld device.

So I bout an iPad3 (the new iPad) for my dad. I want to transfer a couple of pictures from my pc onto the ipad. Isn't there a simple way of doing it? So far these are the ways I've figured out I can do it- Install itunes, put the pictures in a folder and sync it- Install a 3rd party wi fi upload software- Upload to icloudWhat I would like to do is to be able to explore the ipad in windows explorer and be able to drag and drop pictures.
9/7/2012 3:49:19 PM
drag and drop to email, send email, save images from email on ipad
9/7/2012 4:10:57 PM
^ that is what I ended up doing, kinda inconvenient..
9/7/2012 4:39:17 PM
I think if you used USB Disk for iPad you could've had the drag and drop that you wanted.
9/7/2012 6:32:47 PM
dropbox?
9/7/2012 9:28:03 PM
Using a cloud service like iCloud or picasa is definitely the most painless way

This device just makes me more frustrated every day. I bought a camera connection kit. I imported photos from an SD card, no problem. I tried to use a thumb drive, it didn't work as easily, cos apparently I need to rename folders that the ipad can recognize. I did that, worked fine. But after I import all the pictures there is no way to organize them into folders! I don't want to pay money and buy an app to do it for me. Is there an easy way I can do it without paying any money? The only way I can think of is move the pictures to my pc, separate them into folders and import using itunes.
9/8/2012 10:22:24 AM
You have to quit thinking about it like a windows computer and think of what it is that you are trying to accomplish and what would be the easiest way to do that.If you only want to move one or two photos from "last import" to a new album, tap and hold, then select "copy", go to the album you want to place them and select "paste"If you want to move bunch of photos from the last import to a new album at the same time, in the Album view click the "Share/move" button (arrow in the top right corner), then select the pictures you want to move, then choose whether you want to move them to an existing album or create a new album. Also, just because the user manual did not come in the box, it does not mean there isn't one you can find online, and [gasp] search!! http://www.apple.com/support/ipad/I never needed it thus far, but i remember finding all sorts of cool stuff while looking through the iPhone one back in the day (like hot to properly use the "clicker" on the headphones)[Edited on September 8, 2012 at 10:41 AM. Figured a way of using iCloud with windows XP, but photostream doesn't seem to work for some reason. Anyone else tried this before?https://discussions.apple.com/message/16479828#16479828

Are there any other old school windows games for iPad? I have Myst and that was a great blast from the past so I wanted to see if anyone knew of other similar games.
9/9/2012 10:27:53 AM
100 floors is a bit like Myst
9/9/2012 11:06:26 AM
Not so much looking for games similar to Myst, more looking for games from that era.

is there a technological reason Siri won't work on an ipad2 or were they just like 'lol fuck you guys'?

Probably a little bit of both.

just got $300 for my 1st generation 32gig, wifi+3G... not too bad.I bought a 3rd generation when they came out and was basically using my old one as a shower radio/reader for the shitter and passive twitter reader in the living room and figured I would rather have $300

WTF....NO YOUTUBE APP FOR IPAD IN IOS 6? What gives?
9/19/2012 8:39:10 PM
There's still a youtube app. It just doesn't come pre-loaded anymore. Stop your whining and go download it.
9/19/2012 8:44:22 PM
I searched for it. Found it for iPhone but not iPad
9/19/2012 8:51:48 PM
Actually like YouTube in browser on the ipad better than the shitty app anyways.
9/19/2012 9:03:55 PM
no fullscreen is a killer.

I'm actually kind of happy about no YouTube app. now I won't get kicked out of the browser so much.[Edited on September 19, 2012 at 9:28 PM. Reason : ]

I played it for a while once and it was pretty neat. It's an interesting and funny satire of a freemium "strategy" ios game. However, despite being a satire, it's still a freemium "strategy" ios game, and I'm not a fan of the genre. Maybe I'll give it another shot. I think it's still installed.

Used portable blutooth keyboard for a day (the kind that turns into a clamshell for the iPad), and found that it is faster and more comfortable for me to type on the virtual keyboard (big part of the reason being the autocorrect turning off when external keyboard is used). I think maybe a full-size keyboard would be a win over the virtual one, but the portable one is going back.
10/5/2012 10:53:17 AM
I use the smaller Apple blue tooth keyboard with my iPad. Awesome keyboard. There's no replacement for a physical keyboard.
10/5/2012 10:55:54 AM
That's what Blackberry and HTC Win Mo people said back in the day. Than iPhone came out and suddenly virtual keyboard was fast and accurate. I think may give Apple BT keyboard a try, but honestly after trying to use the ipad with and without the keyboard, I think I may just stick with the virtual one. Unless you are typing large blocks of text, any time gained from faster typing is lost to slower navigating. On another note, im pretty excited about Pogo Connect (http://tenonedesign.com/connect.php) Finally, a pressure sensitive stylus for the ipad. While Steve Jobs was right a good tablet does not need a stylus for navigation, drawing is an entirely different ballgame. Although some apps in ipad already try to emulate pressure sensitivity from the area of the stylus point and speed of movement of the stylus, they are not quite as precise something like a Wacom tablet. This $79 pen, although priced kind of steep, effectively gives your iPad much functionality of a $999 Cintiq 12[Edited on October 5, 2012 at 11:15 AM. Reason : link]

An actual size keyboard =/= thumb keyboard on a phone. In the case of real keyboards, they always win.
