Mount the scooter tire in your garage. I did a front motorcycle tire without too much trouble. I would and will do it again. I set the bead with a 12 volt emergency tire pump....

Hmm. I'm looking at 2000+ GSX-R750 and 2003+ YZF-R6. I've seen both in the $3k-$5k price range on Craigslist...

I think i'm going to die this weekend.640 mile, 12 hour ride from Raleigh to Alexandria, Kentucky starting Sunday morning.Rest on Monday.Tuesday morning, return home going a different route that's estimated around 640 miles and about 13 hours.~1300 miles, ~25 hours of riding total, 72 hour period. Wish me luck...[Edited on July 13, 2012 at 7:52 PM. Reason : .]

I've never had a bike comfortable enough to even consider this. best of luck sir
7/15/2012 10:29:54 AM
Over 1200 miles in two days of riding! It was awesome. Would do again. The first day had more curves, but was not scenic. The second day was definitely more scenic, though less curvy. I preferred the later. ~12 hours of riding each day. Best ride ever. Good to know that I can handle 600+ miles of riding in one day, and the 2nd day had a high of 95*. Route:My dad's Honda 1300 VTX and my R1200R on Blue Ridge Parkway. Picture was at the Terrapin Mountain View.R1200R has a little over 28,000 miles on it. I've put ~ 4,500 miles since I got it 4 months ago.[Edited on July 18, 2012 at 3:24 PM. Reason : .]

I have an opportunity to be given a '75 Goldwing GL1000....that "only needs a starter"Thoughts?
7/19/2012 8:39:21 AM
Naked 'Wing!
7/19/2012 11:07:13 AM
totally...but is the starter issue something that i could do myself or am i already looking at extensive shop rates to get it fixed?
7/20/2012 7:13:45 AM
tasteful goldwing, imho (and had to google search... i was thinking stereotypically of what today's goldwings look like)[Edited on July 20, 2012 at 8:00 AM. Reason : -]
7/20/2012 7:59:24 AM
^^if you are not confident that you can change a starter, then no, you should not take a free bike. I can almost guarantee that there is more to be done other than just changing a starter. Also you should be able to bump start it if it is "just the starter" that is bad.
7/20/2012 8:33:20 AM
also a heavy 1000cc is an AWFUL choice to learn to ride on
7/20/2012 9:25:02 AM
Gold wings are >1000cc
7/21/2012 7:10:45 AM
took my bike out for a nice camping trip. cant miss enjoying some country roads. thankfully the flat bungees i bought kept the tent/sleeping bag secure enough on my back seat.
7/21/2012 11:22:15 AM
^^ Goldwings were 1000cc until '79/'80
7/23/2012 9:22:09 AM
The starter should be a simple swap. Two bolts or so holding it on and disconnect the power wire. But yeah, the Goldwing is about the worst possible bike I think you could find to learn to ride with. Best thing you could do is trade it for something smaller and more manageable.
7/23/2012 10:59:01 AM
Quinn and I saw two Oldschool goldwings from Quebec... Wait for it....IN SC.

30% rain MY ASS.More like 190%
7/24/2012 4:13:45 PM
^ after getting caught in a 45-minute downpour on a freaking "10%" chance day, i decided not to ride in the afternoons at all...that was teh suckya question the DMV could answer but i'm asking y'all, anyway, because i'm already posting: do motorcycles require annual emissions and safety checks like cars?[Edited on July 26, 2012 at 9:04 AM. Reason : 190% indeed]
7/26/2012 9:04:02 AM
motorcycles are subject to safety inspections, yes. Not sure how emissions are handled
7/26/2012 9:32:58 AM
i ask because i finally got around to registering my 110cc scooter which is, of course, considered a motorcycle...it (supposedly) meets euro 6 gasoline emission standards for passenger cars, which is extremely stringent, moreso even than california's standards...but i've never gotten it tested, so who knows
7/26/2012 9:50:06 AM
I need to stop taking my bike out when it storms like it did tonight. I prefer to look at it as "adventureous" but I know I'm completely retarded here.
7/28/2012 11:01:12 PM
^yep youre crazy. i wont ride at night or in the rain. no way in hell at the same time
7/29/2012 7:34:13 AM
Motorcycles in NC do have to pass annual safety inspection, but not an emissions test. I think it's like $13 or so. Just checking blinkers, plate lights, horn, tires, etc.
7/29/2012 8:52:49 AM
Man I am ALWAYS getting caught in the rain, and it's at night at least half the time. I dont mind it for the most part, just have to take it a bit slower through turns and ramp up your following distance. What I do mind is my exposed skin getting sandblasted at freeway speeds, or even worse the big raindrops that feel (quite literally) like paintballs and leave welts
7/29/2012 11:39:56 AM
I love rain riding but not in severe weather flooding situations.....
7/29/2012 12:19:14 PM
I got the tank and seat put on the bobber! Now to get rid of the fender struts and some lights..
8/20/2012 6:31:19 PM
Went to my first Moto2/Moto3/MotoGP/Flat track race this past weekend in Indianapolis.Holy balls.O.O
8/20/2012 8:58:14 PM
jealous you got to see the indy mile. I went to motogp/ama at laguna a few weeks back. more action in practice than the race got my bike back from dane westby's crew chief today. felt like shit, but better. torn on whether to put more money into suspension or just build a transmission for my 636
8/20/2012 9:36:47 PM
I have to say, I think I enjoyed the Indy Mile more than IMS (Even Rossi made an appearance). We sat right at T16 at IMS so we of course saw Stoner, Hayden, and Spies high side.Moto2 was the best race out of the 3/2/GP races, although Marquez dominated.Amazing weather the whole weekend.
8/20/2012 9:46:40 PM
I know it's old, but I really enjoyed this article.http://www.sportrider.com/bikes/146_0611_bmw_r1200s_suzuki_sv1000s/viewall.html

Rode Skyline Dr this past Friday. It was so much less crowded than it is on the weekends. Weather was perfect too, not too cold, not too hot.
9/6/2012 9:58:53 PM
got rid of my crotch rocket for a jeep not long ago and im back on the prowl.I figured i wouldnt get the craving to ride again but I was wrong.anyone know of a good sub $2000 rocket? even if it needs paint or tuning, i can handle most of that.
9/7/2012 11:44:08 AM
would a Ninja 250 work for you? I might know of one thats about to go on sale...
9/7/2012 1:02:44 PM
lol, ninja rocket
9/7/2012 3:56:31 PM
WTF is it with people trying to get around a motorcycle trying to make a right on red? Fuck these people.
9/12/2012 7:27:54 PM
Havent had that happen yet. God help whoever tries it first though.
9/13/2012 2:39:46 AM
I've had it happen and almost bar end keyed the side of the car they were so close. The rider behind me yelled at them so loud I could hear it over me vee twin motorbike mate!
9/13/2012 8:20:37 AM
I had some jerkoff in a taxi pull up on my right when I had my blinker on to turn right at a place where you can only turn right. Needless to say I flipped out, not because I was in danger , but because he was an idiot.
9/13/2012 11:21:23 AM
that is a dick move. as is the many bikers who think they're allowed to drive like assholes all the time, including riding in-between cars at stop lights to get to the front of the line.
9/13/2012 11:23:55 AM
Just sayin'...
9/13/2012 11:26:58 AM
^^ that's legal almost every place but here
9/13/2012 12:17:51 PM
9/13/2012 9:12:43 PM
yeah, I had it happen twice in one day a couple days ago. I was so pissed. I wanted to buy a boot off amazon and put it on the person's car when they got home.
9/14/2012 1:08:26 AM
New to me 03 K1200RS - 31k on it, no mods or aftermarket farkles other than a Ztechnik exhaust and a topcase. A hell of a jump in power from a SV650, but there's no ignoring the weight difference from the moment you sit on it.[Edited on September 23, 2012 at 6:39 AM. Reason : mhm]
