A potential package deal could be Zach Zwinak, Scout's #1 FB, and Robby Havenstein, Scout's #28 OT. Both come from Liganore HS in Frederick, MD, and both have offers from the Pack. Both have major offers and maybe hard to get. Zwinak's father played football at VT and his mother ran track at UNC. Zwinak is 6-2 225 and runs the 40 in 4.5 seconds. Havenstein is a massive 6-7 345.Zwinak

So apparently Rijo Walker was told that while he does have an offer, it's conditional on whether we take a CB this year or not. He's one of if not the top CB on our board, and we would take him if he wanted to come. Apparently the coaches were up front and told him when he visited that they liked him, but didn't know if they needed a CB in this class and didn't want him to be settled on their program. Rijo said he appreciated the honesty. He also has offers from South Carolina and ECU. I think he'd be a decent pickup and continue our efforts to start a pipeline into the Tidewater region of Virginia. He attends Bethel HS.Evan Hailes is another player from the Tidewater region that we have offered. Here's a few of the players from the Tidewater region that we offered last year:Jerod Askew - Oscar Smith HS - MLB (#6) - TennesseeMike Privott - Lake Taylor HS - MLB (#35) - LouisvilleJontel Evans - Bethel HS - RB (#142) - VirginiaSterling Phifer - Landstown HS - RB (#180) - Boston CollegeLaroy Reynolds - Maury HS - WR (#204) - VirginiaJames Gayle - Bethel HS - DE - Virginia Tech[Edited on May 24, 2009 at 3:07 PM. The two recruiting sites show that FSU, UT, and LSU have offered. UF is the only one that isn't shown as having offered, but those lists aren't always up to date.Fre'Shad Hunter's listSchools Interested (known offers in italics)Florida StateLSUN.C. Well TE Alex Welch can be taken off of the board. He committed to Notre Dame today. Why do kids continue to go there when it's obvious that they suck. By that I mean coaching wise. They obviously get talent, but the coaching staff is just horrendous, and I unlike most actually want Notre Dame to be good.

so it appears we have offered Terrel Hartsfield, anyone got any good info on him? I know there's a story on Kendall Moore up on PP, but can't read it. I wonder if we offered Hartsfeld because the coaching staff is getting the idea he's looking elsewhere.
5/26/2009 3:09:35 PM
I thought we offered him back in March.
5/26/2009 3:12:31 PM
^^I think we offered him a while ago, but he's going to have to go to Hargrave this next year. He likes us.
5/26/2009 3:13:19 PM
I've definitely heard the name, but I don't remember how good he is or if he's been rated yet.Where's aph with the updated prospects list?
5/26/2009 3:25:48 PM
just lurking...i'll update it eventually but since school is out and news is slow, i'm just going to let it sit unless there are major updates. by the time summer camp starts up, news will as well, like say... a pete thomas commit.
5/26/2009 4:30:20 PM
We just offered DE Justin Taylor.
5/27/2009 3:02:21 PM
Hartsfield's athleticism is off the charts. 6'4 215. Think of his body compared to Manning's....similar builds. All about potential with him....we should get him in here after hargrave

Anyone know who's in Daunte Carr's top 4?

“In no order, my top four are Wake Forest, Stanford, North Carolina State, and UCLA,” said Daunte Carr.

old, rundown school? why would anyone that's never been to our campus think that? is it b/c some moron at the Princeton Review said we had an ugly campus? i love our campus especially the Brickyard and the Court of North Carolina. i mean really have you ever been to any of the colleges up North, especially in urban areas? there is no campus to speak of in some cases. they are just some regular buildings that are thrown in with the surrounding buildings of the city. I will say that Harvard has a nice campus, despite it being smack dab in the middle of Cambridge, but BU's campus seemed all over the place, and so did Tufts.
5/29/2009 9:43:37 AM
eh, it's an ugly campus, but it will grow on you.
5/29/2009 9:56:16 AM
yeah it's ugly.

it might not be the most picturesque campus but its far from an old rundown school but whatever...at least he changed his mind and was "blown away"
5/29/2009 10:22:01 AM
I always thought it had character. But back to recruiting...
5/29/2009 10:23:32 AM
our campus really gets a bum reputation, it's not bad at all.fuck you guys.
5/29/2009 10:27:18 AM
^ what he said
5/29/2009 10:33:33 AM
I think the coaches are more likely to show him Centennial Campus, and that campus isn't ugly at all.
5/29/2009 10:34:09 AM
take the blinders off, nc state is ugly as shitThat wouldn't have too much of an influence on my or any one else's decision to attend or notbut it certainly doesn't helpIf this was NCAA 10, we couldn't use beautiful campus as a recruiting pitch
5/29/2009 10:44:51 AM
5/29/2009 10:49:14 AM
Our campus is nowhere near the #7 ugliest in the USA. Heck I could go up to the Boston metro and probably find 7 that are uglier than ours. Centennial Campus is beautiful, and we do have a ton of trees on campus, as well as some nice looking buildings. I like the quirkiness of some of the structures too. It's not all Victorian architecture, which can get boring if it's everywhere. I like the Wolf Ears thing next to the Brickyard, and the off the wall brick formations. I love the Free Expression Tunnel too. I think it's little things like that and the gum wall that give the campus character that can't be found anywhere else. Some more of the quirkiness that you find on NC State's campus. This is the result of mixing artists and engineers. Who says we don't have trees. Dunn Ave.Brooks HallWinslow Hall aka Alumni Memorial Building[Edited on May 29, 2009 at 11:44 AM. Reason : ]

^ You can pluck great photos of most schools around, for every great photo you posted I could go take one that would be NC State at its worst. I love the campus but it had to grow on me. And they have done a lot over the past few years that have really helped.
5/29/2009 11:47:46 AM
Not to mention a lot of those pictures are from CoC / Yarborough Court, which is a very small portion of the total campus.
5/29/2009 11:49:15 AM
^ yes, the other side of the tracks is pretty terrible. bragaw dorm might be the ugliest building in america. it looked like four motel 6's stuck together.that being said, i liked our campus, enjoyed it, and think we're somewhat better than "7th ugliest" in the nation. heck, i'm in atlanta now, and we definitely have a better campus than tech.
5/29/2009 12:39:28 PM
goddamn tech's campus is a wasteland both physically, and also metaphorically when you consider the Hope scholarship
5/29/2009 12:44:23 PM
i honestly didnt give a damn about what the campus looked like.my decision was based on the following (in order)1) Academics & Facilities (College of Engineering)2) Athletics (ACC program)3) $$$ (half the price of Clemson out of state tuition)4) Music Scene (i play drums & frequent tons of local shows)5) proximity to home/family (family in Charlotte & Cary)To be honest, i some weird way, i kinda like the old-rundown dirtiness of Hillsborough Street. it has character. i love dive bars, and not places like "Top-O" or "La Rez" or whatever bow tie wearing abbreviated bars are in Chapel Hill. There's NHL, a really nice downtown, big time college athletics, awesome science, history and art museums, and so much more to Raleigh that i just love.Shoot us for having brick...big whoop. I'll take it anyday.and PS: any patron of the GOAT is a friend of mine.[Edited on May 29, 2009 at 12:51 PM. Reason : ps:]

Yeah fuck all the haters. It's not Pepperdine, but it's not a shithole either.Seriously, I challenge anyone of these people who say we have an ugly campus to walk up Pullen Road from the Quad to the Courtyard of Carolinas -- or go through the Triad and make a stop in front of Leazar Hall. If anybody still thinks we have an unsightly campus after that, they're either blind or biased as fuck.I think the improvements to Hillsborough Street will go a LONG way toward making or campus more aesthically pleasing. I think people often think Hillsborough St = the rest of NC State. That's a shame.[Edited on May 29, 2009 at 12:54 PM. Reason : ]

i fell in love with our campus as a kid and there was no other place i would've gone to school (plus there was a really awesome design school, so it all worked out). i thought it was a nice campus then and still do. it has a lot of character. you can find shitty spots just about everywhere.
