I apologize if I go over a few things that have already been touched. This pesky thing called work got in the way of arguing about recruiting this morning. I'll try not to let that happen again.

^^They were light years ahead of the Jeremy Hyatt talent was my point.Archie would be our best guard if on the team now how could you hate on him? He's defense wasn't so good because the mug was only 5'8". I still say if he was 6'2" he could have played pro ball. If he was open he was money.[Edited on January 16, 2009 at 2:39 PM. posted on the monkey boardhttp://www.thememphisedge.com/2009/01/16/cousins-memphis-is-the-leader/I just returned from Birmingham, where I went tonight to watch the DeMarcus Cousins-Derrick Favors game, which was also broadcast nationally on ESPN. It’s late, and I will have a full story on the Cousins situation in Saturday’s newspaper, but the 6-foot-11 center from Mobile, Ala., said emphatically tonight that Memphis is the leader in his recruitment. His coach at LeFlore High School, Otis Hughley, confirmed that Memphis is leading on Cousins and said he felt the Tigers would be hard to beat at this point in time. This being my first time to see Cousins in person, I was surprised at how big he actually is. He really sees the court well for a big man, and some of the passes he made were Kevin Love-esque. He needs to get in better shape and will have to learn how to play hard all the time, but he’s a tremendous talent and a future pro without question.[Edited on January 16, 2009 at 3:10 PM. typicalI cant wait to hear the John Wall to Memphis or Duke reports start to roll in
1/16/2009 3:06:49 PM
It's been asked a few times about Memphis being able to handle Cousins and Wall in their class next year.Well a quick internet research trip for me and I found out that Taggart is as good as gone since he already graduated. Most think he'd leave to play overseas or even in the D-League...Tyreke Evans is as good as gone. He will be a Top 20 pick already and it was pretty much a given he was a one and done from what I recall.I don't know where that puts them but they will almost certainly have room for Cousins AND Wall should they both pick Memphis unfortunately...
1/16/2009 3:28:29 PM
well fuckthat doesn't sound good at all
1/16/2009 3:30:22 PM
I mean, I don't know the ins and outs like some guys on here... Wall hasn't really hinted at who is leading in public to my knowledge. Cousins seems to be a heavy Memphis lean if he doesn't go to UAB now though.Just saying they'll likely have room for both on their roster.

packboozie - yeah, Hyatt sucked, but CC Harrison was light years better than any guard we've had since Julius...and Luke Buffum was a beast!!

T-Mobile Invitational Showcase is on CBS. Favors was in it. His team lost in the championship game to Lawrence North, the school that Greg Oden came from. There are a lot of other D-I commits that played in this tournament.

Maybe we should hire Mike Davis to our staff. He could have a title similar to Amato's at FSU. Mike Davis for Executive Associate Head Coach!
1/20/2009 4:27:12 PM
Great news about Cousins. I wonder what weekend he will schedule his visit for. Maybe for the UNC game on 1/31?
1/21/2009 1:19:33 PM
If I were Sid, I'd hesitate to bring in a big time recruit for the UNC game. It's definitely a tough decision.- Do you want them to come in and see the great atmosphere that our fans create for big games like Duke or UNC?- Or do you want them there for the possibility of us getting slaughtered and watch them take the life out of our crowd and our fans leave early and possibly boo the coach??
1/21/2009 1:57:52 PM
he is trying to schedule it for the terp game
1/21/2009 2:03:43 PM
i wouldn't. it would show our fans at their most passionate.it would show the essence of what playing at this school is. as long as the team plays like they give a damn, i don't see how it could hurt. even if we lose big, it could easily show him that his talent could be utilized right away.
1/21/2009 2:04:30 PM
the dook loss last year won over Lorenzo Brown.
1/21/2009 2:15:59 PM
yeah but that was a great game. the unc game last year may or may not have been a different story.
