here's a better way to look at it. took an aggregate of all of the categories and ranked everyone (the columns are still relative to themselves). not trying to shit on anyone, just think it's interesting to see the numbers.as far as recruiting goes, I hope we can score big in the grad transfer / juco market. we are thin next year as far as incoming freshmen go. I also hope Manny Bates makes a big impact - he'd be the tallest guy on the team this year.
3/8/2019 1:05:30 PM
now divide the total numbers by minutes per game
3/8/2019 2:02:16 PM
In 2019 with tons of different advanced metrics and stats at your fingertips and you are ranking based on 2pt fg attempts per game??

Going after another transfer guard (will be a Sr) Rayjon Tucker. Seems to be a pretty good shooter but he's visiting some good schoolshttps://www.backingthepack.com/nc-state-basketball-recruiting/2019/3/25/18280743/rayjon-tucker-transfer-little-rock-nc-state-gonzaga-michigan-tennessee

Glad to hear we are looking for a shooter. 41% from three would definitely help.
3/27/2019 11:28:56 PM
Is the guy from lipscomb available?
3/28/2019 3:07:03 PM
He’s a senior.
3/28/2019 3:11:51 PM
Dude from Hofstra wasn’t bad either
3/28/2019 3:31:25 PM
Lecque wasn't a burger boy
3/29/2019 2:14:29 PM
?Is that post in response to something or just a non sequitur?[Edited on March 29, 2019 at 3:30 PM. Reason : E]
3/29/2019 3:28:46 PM
Just a statement about one of our recruits, since I watched a little of the McDonald's All-American game before the State game on Wednesday.Precious Achiuwa is a beast.
3/29/2019 3:49:55 PM
Oh. We knew that in January though right?
3/29/2019 4:01:39 PM
So, we're going after another transfer, 6'8 guy from Lehigh who shot 42% from 3..Also, Lecque is "testing the waters" for the NBA to see if hes eligible
4/2/2019 11:14:53 AM
I would like to vote not to mention someone testing the waters in 2019, it's barely newsworthy with the new rules. Also I think we are pursuing like 4 different transfers
4/2/2019 12:32:44 PM
It's kinda newsworthy when he's literally the only major recruit doing it. And yeah he's basically the only one who is eligible to do it.
4/2/2019 12:40:53 PM
Personally I'm fairly concerned about Lecque mentioning going to the NBA. While I find it unlikely many teams would want to draft a kid who hasn't even played in college yet (so they really have a poor indicator of his quality against actual high-level competition), most of what I've read indicates that he *should* be eligible to do it - he fulfilled all NCAA requirements to graduate last Spring, but didn't get a high school diploma.
4/2/2019 12:46:49 PM
We've known he was interested and probably eligible all along. Frankly it would be surprising if he did NOT do this.
4/2/2019 12:51:54 PM
ffs
4/2/2019 12:53:27 PM
^^No doubt. Oh well.
4/2/2019 12:54:50 PM
Lecque may go to the NBA. But this is really nothing new. we knew he was eligible all along and was likely to continue considering and pursuing that as an option. Today’s news doesn’t change anything that I’m aware of.
4/2/2019 1:05:12 PM
Lecque is applying paperwork to see if he is even eligible for this year's draft. Some uncertainty there. If he is eligible, he's absolutely going to put his name in to test the waters and get feedback. No mocks have him higher than late 2nd, so unless he absolutely impresses in workouts or makes some team fall in love with him, he's not going to be a 1st round pick. He said he has "no interest" in playing in the G-league so I think he's going to be a 1st round or college guy. Can't see a NBA team investing a 1st round pick in a combo guard that is learning how to play the point and is a 28% 3pt shooter in HS.
4/3/2019 10:04:15 AM
yeah that's pretty much my read on it. there are so many more qualified, tested people in front of him that even a late second round pick seems generous. he'd be the only high school senior drafted in the first two rounds. as others have said, it's stupid not to test the waters, get feedback on what you need to do to get stronger consideration in the NBA, etc. I'd be surprised if he doesn't come here barring some expansion on the NCAA/Adidas investigations/penalties on us.
4/3/2019 10:50:09 AM
I would really rather just get some damn freshmen and develop them versus signing a bunch of transfers
4/3/2019 11:08:11 AM
Welcome to college basketball in 2019... coaches have to fill spots any way they can.The majority of our transfers have multiple years of eligibility (Lockett is the only exception this year, Hunt and Freeman the year before). And we should have at least two freshmen coming in next year (3, if you count the preferred walk-on)And we had at least three the past year (although one left after the first game)(correct me if I'm wrong)
4/3/2019 12:54:38 PM
4/3/2019 1:17:46 PM
There were 800+ transfers last year and 400+ already in the portal this year. Finding 4-year players that stay at the same school are extremely rare this day and age. Even the top programs are leveraging traditional and grad transfers.
4/3/2019 1:36:08 PM
Thomas Allen coming back
4/5/2019 7:15:18 PM
Sweet. i Had totally forgotten about him. Is he...good?
4/5/2019 7:16:06 PM
8.7 ppg started 25/29 for decent Nebraska team. Shot .364 from 3 and .862 from the line
4/5/2019 7:56:48 PM
82% FT sounds awesome.
4/5/2019 8:21:47 PM
Fairly low volume on both
4/5/2019 8:42:33 PM
Had he committed to us and then left to go to Nebraska?
4/5/2019 10:14:53 PM
Yeah when Gott was fired he went to Nebraska
4/5/2019 10:16:43 PM
The Saga of Thomas Allen: Commits to Gott. Gott fired. Allen picks up interest from P5 programs like Kansas and Nebraska. We hire Keatts. Keatts wants Allen to stay committed but Allen is interested in the Kansas offer. Allen plans visit to Kansas. Kansas fills up last scholarship spot. Keatts moved on. Allen ends up at Nebraska. Allen plays for 2 years at Nebraska. Allen announces he's transferring. Keatts heads up his recruiting. Lands him really quickly. Allen has the opportunity to apply for a waiver(moving closer to home) but it sounds like he wants to RS.
4/8/2019 9:15:42 AM
Him taking the RS instead of trying to be eligible immediately probably isn’t a terrible thing, assuming we don’t have unforeseen attrition.
4/8/2019 9:43:36 AM
Saw we missed out on a recruit to UVA. At least he didn’t choose UNC that tried to sneak in with an offer.
4/15/2019 9:14:30 PM
Uva snuck in with an offer too, I think they offered last (I mean we snuck in almost as much as anyone l
4/15/2019 9:23:12 PM
It sucks, but in the short term I think a grad transfer that's a proven 3 point shooter is better for the roster.
4/15/2019 9:50:15 PM
At some point KK needs to show he can get and keep high school recruits. Lecque showing up will help. Hopefully recruiting Smits won't spook Bates.[Edited on April 15, 2019 at 9:52 PM. Reason : E]
4/15/2019 9:52:33 PM
That's a pretty dumb take
4/15/2019 10:31:33 PM
Thanks for the input
4/15/2019 10:50:16 PM
You're welcome
4/15/2019 11:03:10 PM
My only issue with this year's class is that Lecque may end up going pro and Seabron is still working to qualify academically. If both make it we add 2 really nice offensive pieces. Absolutely not on Keatts that Steere was a bonehead and didn't want to earn his minutes. After seeing what various tourney teams did with transfers, I'm fine with building a team through traditional and post-grad transfers. As long as Keatts does a good job identifying talent and building a functioning roster, I have no problem with it.
4/16/2019 10:24:20 AM
The coach has at least a little fault in any transfer (outside of true personal/family health issues) bc the coach needs to know the character of the player they recruit and the coach sets the culture/environment.I also think you need high school recruits to win consistently in the acc, transfers should be used to fill the gaps. Ideally the staff would be using the time right now to dig into class of 20 and 21 instead off scrambling for low major transfers.I don't think it's a problem right now. The first two years are learning years, and the FBI scandal didn't hurt, but we've struck out on a number of recruiting battles, some of which we jumped in too late. If lecque and Seabron make it to campus and stick around (at least all season) that will obviously help alleviate some concerns. The lecque stuff is also no surprise though, it's weird having to spend all this time hoping a recruit isn't THAT good.
4/16/2019 12:16:23 PM
Blackshear from VT entered the transfer portal, but also exploring NBA options. Immediately eligible. Good option?
4/16/2019 2:06:57 PM
That would be an outstanding option. Sincerely doubt it happens.Virginia Tech is gonna suck next year. They're in all likelihood losing like their top 6 guys.]
4/16/2019 2:23:57 PM
Just hope Blackshear leaves the ACC at this point. Doubt we land him and think most believe he is headed to A&M.
