the pg that was in the same class as DSJ has done well for us this year, Markell. So it won't hurt having solid depth at every position. and length.
1/15/2019 6:17:54 PM
the video ive watched of this guy is pretty good. he fits what keatts likes to a T. if he sticks around hes going to have some good years and he might even be ready to go right away with his size and the extra postgrad year helpingalthough today's loss is why I wish keatts would like a few more of the smaller guards who can cross a guy up and hit a 3 in their face. those guys can get steals too!
1/15/2019 10:46:30 PM
Perplexed why we arent recruiting any 3 pt shooters. Keatts system is basically shoot the 3 and stop the 3. We found out how it goes last night when you dont have the ability to shoot the 3. Lecque, seabron, brown...none of these guys are known for their 3 pt shooting
1/16/2019 2:32:55 PM
I am not disagreeing that we need to improve our 3 point shooting talent, but last night's loss was not due to a lack of threes. Wake has the worst 2-pt defensive ranking in the conference. We should have been attacking the zone every chance we got. Dorn did a pretty good job of getting the ball in the high post, but he should have gotten way more looks there. And Markell is the only guard who seems to know how to run the PnR.
1/16/2019 3:12:23 PM
live by the 3, die by the 3.we had a terrible shooting 1st half. We had some good looks at 3 in the 1st half, but no one could hit anything. mean while, Wake got easy 2s and made free throws. we also didn't force hardly any turnovers in the 1st. easily the worst half of basketball this year. they flipped the script in the 2nd half, just couldn't get over the hump. ON TO NOTRE DAME
1/17/2019 8:47:53 AM
^^keatts system is basically built on taking tons of 3 pt shots. No matter wakes inefficiency at guarding the 2..we are gonna put up 3s. Beverly is the only proficient 3 pt shooter we have with markell on the bench. And we arent recruiting any...which scares me for the future.^which is my point. If we are gonna play this system with a bunch of guys that cant shoot great...we are gonna struggle.
1/17/2019 10:13:54 AM
Eh, you can make someone a better shooter. You can't make them be superior athletes. Shooting is mostly about form and repetition.
1/17/2019 10:26:48 AM
Every player on our team is shooting over 30% from 3 for the season.Daniels is really the only one that qualifies as not good, and his whole game this year is probably suffering from too much volume.
1/17/2019 10:53:01 AM
the majority of our team is bad 3 point shooters, the system we run just gets them open shots. shooting 35% on wide open shots is not good

I saw that all over social media but it seems like not much news. I don't know much about UNC JV but it seems like a D1 prospect better dominate against a bunch of guys that can't even walk on
1/22/2019 12:40:10 PM
Yeah, I don't think it was a big deal, i just posted because it had info about our newest verbal commit.
1/22/2019 12:42:10 PM
True, good chance to see highlights for people looking for that, I guess
1/22/2019 12:43:51 PM
Yeah, it's basically a bunch of goofy white guys.
1/22/2019 12:44:19 PM
They were ranked as the top JV team in the country on some listing. For the record, Wake tech was also high on that same list.
1/23/2019 1:15:44 AM
After today it is painfully obvious that NC State needs Ballers, badly. Hope Keatts considers recruiting some shooters now.
2/2/2019 2:14:50 PM
2021 SG Terquavion Smith Commits to NC StateToo young for stars, first/only major offer so far. Ecu offered.
2/18/2019 10:48:41 AM
Picking up a name like Terquavion is a solid replacement for losing a really good name like Sacha Killeya-Jones.
2/18/2019 11:31:22 AM
Congratulations to this kid and preemptive condolences when he becomes a 5 star and reopens his recruitment
2/18/2019 11:58:42 AM
^ nothing we can do about that, so just be happy that we got an early commit from someone that keatts wanted!
2/18/2019 8:40:53 PM
He will end up a top ten in State recruit. Terquavion...that's Wolfpack legendary name potential.

bro, are you trying to say you don't religiously trust evaluations of teenagers' sports skills? not the thread for that shit, bro, you'll get your ass kicked for that mess. stars don't lie, bro.
2/19/2019 12:50:13 AM
^^who asked you to get "real excited?"
2/19/2019 6:26:21 AM
I trust Keatts eye for talent, or at least talent that fits his scheme, but I'm not going to go speculating how high this kid will be ranked. He's a 2021 kid with 3 offers(NCSU, ECU, and High Point). Seems like a future 4* to me based on what I've read, but obviously that can adjust over the next 2 years.
2/19/2019 7:58:42 AM
He’s gonna start as a high 3* on rivals. They expect him to wind up as a top 100 player, according to Eric Bossi...one of the head guys on Rivals. But because he’s 2021 they haven’t evaluated him much and haven’t evaluated others in that class either.
2/19/2019 9:49:31 AM
2/19/2019 9:54:03 AM
It's deja vu all over again
2/19/2019 10:16:56 AM
haha way to be negative af about this situation. this is how good recruiting classes are built - getting to kids as early as possible. I think it says a lot we have a commit before he even finds out where he'll end up rankings-wise. it's the same people that complain about getting transfers that were former 4* guys or whatever like "evaluations don't matter"if he sucks, it's not like we can't yank the scholarship or steer him to a better fit anyway and vice versa. he very may well leave if he does end up as a 5* but this at least gets him around the program and gives us a better shot.

Just got Maximus Farthinghttps://www.backingthepack.com/nc-state-basketball-recruiting/2019/2/22/18236911/max-farthing-nc-state-word-of-god-wolfpack-recruiting

*maxWOO WE'RE FINALLY GONNA HAVE A WALK-ON
2/22/2019 7:30:36 PM
That gives us one more walk on than we have on this year’s team yay!
2/22/2019 7:30:52 PM
Thank goodness for that h in his last name
2/23/2019 8:14:05 AM
Someone please tell me there are some sharpshooters we are recruiting for next season, please.
3/6/2019 11:12:31 PM
^ sample size of one reply
3/6/2019 11:17:13 PM
^^we arent recruiting anyone that has shooting as a strength until the 2020 class. So another full season of this is coming!
3/6/2019 11:37:42 PM
With SKJ leaving opening up another scholarship I wouldn’t be surprised to see us pursue a transfer perhaps.
3/6/2019 11:40:00 PM
NEEDS = BALLERS
3/7/2019 8:36:26 AM
The only reason Leque might not go pro this year is because his shooting last summer was terrible. So unless we're bringing in a post-grad sharpshooter, we're not going to be much improved from 3. Key should be to STOP SHOOTING SO MANY DAMN 3'S until we have a roster to support it.
3/7/2019 2:37:55 PM
Again...Our shooters aren’t *that* bad. But shooting 35 game is inexcusable in general imo. Shot selection is a bigger problem than poor shooting ability imo.
3/7/2019 3:16:23 PM
Nah, we can't score at the rim, might as well Jack 3s[Edited on March 7, 2019 at 6:47 PM. Reason : T]
3/7/2019 6:47:01 PM
It’s not an either/or proposition. Yes we aren’t strong attacking the rim. But that doesn’t mean the first open look you get from 3 is worth taking. Jacking a 30 footer with 18 left on the shot clock is a bad shot. Might as well use the remaining shot clock to try for a better shot. And then just jack it from 30 with 4 on the shot clock if that’s the best you can do.
3/7/2019 7:51:57 PM
Well, an open 30 footer with 18 seconds left on the shot clock is a better shot than Walker from 3 feet.
3/7/2019 7:53:49 PM
I checked. Walker is shooting 59.6% on the year.
3/8/2019 6:51:09 AM
dude has stone hands. not sure I recall him ever catching it and going up without dribbling first or committing a foul. no alley oops, very few second chances layups, etc. I don't hate the guy, he tries hard but he's more of a liability than anything. I also don't get why he comes so far out from underneath. It has to be part of the other teams' strategy to just bait him out and then blow by him for a layup, a foul, or both. Thought it would be interesting to look at our centers, or de facto centers (biggest post player in a particular season) for each season. Walker and Funderburk are among the worst we've had, pretty comparable to Anya and TBDV. I didn't include Hickson or Jordan Collins (he was by far the worst but didn't play much). [Edited on March 8, 2019 at 10:51 AM. Reason : scaling relative to each column ]
3/8/2019 10:50:05 AM
I’m not defending Walker cause he’s barley ACC caliber. But Funderburk is pretty good. I’d take him over Abu, Vandy, Beejay, and Painter easily. Also, I’m not sure how that chart is supposed to show how these guys are so bad. Both shooting 60% on 2pt FGs, and Funderburk is one of our best FT shooters. They play fewer minutes so per game stats aren’t great to look at here. Granted, that’s partially due to their foul issues.
3/8/2019 11:29:40 AM
justin needs a token white guy to hate on our team every year
3/8/2019 11:40:41 AM
Back to recruiting..Things seem to trending down for Cam Thomas and Christian Brown. We could really use these guys, especially Thomas. [Edited on March 8, 2019 at 11:44 AM. Reason : a]
