This isn't a troll, but I'm not sure of the quality of the player that he had to work with.

In my opinion, the ManU roster is overrated, and Sir Alex did a ridiculous job and papering over the talent issue with great managing.

People never mention this when they talk about Moyes ineptitude however. I'm not saying he did a good job or anything, I'm just saying look what he has to work with in comparison to other big clubs in the prem and in europe.

Yeah, I agree. But you should only take that into consideration if winning Champions League or repeating as champions was his target. Forgetting the drop from 1st to 7th and the amount of points lost compared to last year - they just looked shitty all year, never really improved, never beat anybody worth a damn (lol except Arsenal) and got embarrassed by rivals. If United is sitting in the same position and they had improved even slightly, pulled off a big win or two, had young players contributing, etc. then I don't think Moyes goes right now.

It's been fun to see United get a dose of reality this year, but I'm not a hater. Would love to see them get Klopp. (not that it it will happen) He would be great for the league. The more personality the better.

"lol nope.

Handing over a team of champions to a man that's never had any kind of real success at a high level only because Ferguson wanted it was stupid and reckless."

You don't think the board vetted him and the succession plan was clear? Manchester United had a year to decide. It wasn't just Sir Alex who made the decision. Sure Sir Alex suggested it but I can guarantee you the board also had a say in it and weighed the opportunities available. Moyes had upside, you can't unequivocally say Moyes would have failed in May 2013. Was Mourinho a better choice? Obviously but the board decided to trust the judgement of a man who has won everything and went for the supposedly "safer" option.

The plan didn't work, no one is at fault for it, if Moyes had worked that stability would have been huge for Manchester United. Unfortunately (or fortunately for everyone else) it has failed.

I agree with your assertion that the squad isn't a title winning squad without sir alex hey now. However, the squad isn't bad enough to finish 7th without any kind of fight. As aimorris correctly mentioned Moyes showed no signs of having a plan or implementing any kind of tactics that would have helped. Outside of Arsenal and Bayern first leg United showed nothing of quality against the big teams. The Everton match from this weekend summarizes it. No penetration, no leadership, and the team looked absolutely lost.

All Everton had to do was sit back and let United aimlessly pass the ball around. I have compared that match to the movement that was present last year's in United's side. Its staggering how differently the two teams played. Remember, these are the same players + Mata. That is simply down to the manager, not the squad. Moyes should have been challenging for a top 4 spot. That was the minimum expectation. He failed by quiet a margin.

Do you ever read what you post? You try to disagree with me and then at the end you're saying they ultimately made their decision based on SAF's judgment? That's exactly what I said. And no, I didn't say that Moyes would "fail" but I never thought it was a good hire.

Quote :
"I think it's an average hire, to be honest. His Everton teams get the job done but it's not very fun to watch. He's extremely conservative in big games. He has limited experience in Europe.

Look, Moyes may work out just fine and be another United legend. But Ferguson is a proven soccer manager, not a proven recommender of soccer managers and this hire is risky as fuck. Especially since one of the best coaches in the world is available right now.

Maybe United fans on here will correct me but if his policies win trophies, nobody would be alienated. Not the fans, not the owners, and certainly not the sponsors. Manchester United's legacy is winning. Ferguson brought that to the club, true. But if another manager can come in and continue it, even if it's done a bit different than before, then who cares?

Again, maybe Moyes is that guy. I just don't see it. And if I had a choice between Moyes and Mourinho, I know who I'm taking."

I don't know why you are getting worked up over it. Read what I said again, Sir Alex had input into it but don't think he was the end all be all like everyone is assuming. The board must have weighed his judgement with the other candidates and decided it was the best way to go. It wasn't just because Sir Alex came in and said I think Moyes should be the next manager, meeting adjourned. There must have been talks.

The greatest young footballer in the world has chosen Belgium.

That's fair but they also have a bunch of older guys who basically had their last useful years during last season (Evra, Rio, Giggs, Vidic and RVP).

Greatest young footballer in the world? Sterling just had a stellar year. Januzaj dropped off. As expected, it was his first year in the first team. Sterling's first year of playing was largely the same. Started off really well but dropped of later (think he got injured too, not sure.)

Don't think you can put Evra, Vidic, and RVP in that category. Evra & Vidic have def. lost some pace and aren't the same players but they are two players who can still put in a shift in a rotating line up. Rio should hang up his boots and frankly has been a disgrace off the field. He is very petulant. RVP was hurt most of the year, can't really blame him for anything. Giggs did have a fantastic performance against Bayern in the first leg. Giggs basically had the same impact as last year if you ask me.

Daniel Levy is a cunt but he isn't stupid. Moyes won't get a spot at a big club (Spurs are at least big financially) for a while now.

He's been injured his whole career. As he ages he will continue that. I'm not joking when I say he has had one two year stretch his entire career fully fit. Be happy you eked out a title riding him. It's more than Arsenal got for all his bullshit.

Throwing a bunch of money around and buying random "superstars" without a coach or a plan seems like a solid policy for United to pursue.

Just because the papers are reporting it doesn't mean its true. Also Luke Shaw and Toni Kroos are two players any manager should be able to work with. Don't think we will get Kroos. Might get Shaw. I am sure by this time next week United will have someone identified and probably hired.

LVG to United it seems. Takes over after World Cup.

The scene is now set for a North London Redknapp Return.

Hopefully not a jinx but I'm not worried about today for some reason. Anfield form has just been too damn good. Palace next weekend honestly feels more threatening.

An early Chelsea goal would be the absolute worst though.
