I don't know how many people are bowing down to DD as the greatest (except The E Man). But there does seem to be a lot of DD optimism and TOB bashing considering that TOB had a ton more success than DD so far. The UNC game will be pretty important in his current status, regardless of what we do in some shitty bowl game.
11/15/2014 7:48:26 PM
^ yeahand i'm not really confident at all that we'll beat unc
11/15/2014 7:52:30 PM
wait, now i think i remember this turd trolling in the basketball threads last season.and i know you're trolling when you accuse people of "bowing down" to DD. Nobody is doing anything remotely close to that.
11/15/2014 7:54:25 PM
the roster TOB inherited his first year and the roster DD inherited his first year were on completely different levels, talent-wise(here's the best version of the '07 roster I can find after 30 seconds of googling: http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c=2&nid=657&yr=2007)
11/15/2014 7:57:45 PM
I used to think Jamelle Eugene was gonna be a baller
11/15/2014 7:59:26 PM
I remember thinking Donald Bowens was gonna be the man...seems like he got injured and then quit or kicked of the team maybe.
11/15/2014 8:23:05 PM
Jamelle Eugene has a patent
11/15/2014 8:24:09 PM
like, the jamelle eugene?
11/15/2014 8:26:34 PM
Bowens had amazing catches his first game home against 15 virginia then never lived up to that hype. Kind of like the guy who caught a bunch of jump balls agaimst fsu then never did shit again
11/15/2014 8:28:29 PM
Geron James? He's another WR I was thinking of from that era that never seemed to pan out
11/15/2014 8:30:41 PM
I wad saying people were bowing down to DD because of their automatic hate for tob and their automatic loyalty to DD. DD hasn't done enough to show he deserves optimism or really anything yet. This bowl game will give us some hope I think. [Edited on November 15, 2014 at 9:33 PM. Reason : corrected]

Really happy for our players to be bowl eligible. But the only thing worse than no extra practices from missing a bowl, is extra practices with this dumpster fire of a coaching staff. It really sucks that the next coach is just going to have to work even harder to coach-out all the bad habits that the players are learning now.

What does a 2-13 record scream?
11/15/2014 10:24:07 PM
"i've won 2 outta my last 3 games"
11/15/2014 10:26:15 PM
What record did you guys truthfully expect us to have this year and last? I had us at 4-8 last year and 6-6 this year....sounds like a lot of people had their head in the clouds.Next year always was going to be the year that matters. If Doeren blows next year, I'll be all for getting rid of him

I had us at 6-6 but even with those expectations this has been a tough season to endure. Maybe if the ACC scheduling would've been kinder it wouldn't have been so painful. Having to wait until the end of the season to play Cuse and Wake was unfortunate as was opening with FSU and non Cole Stoudt Clemson. That losing streak took its toll.

GoPack had a story & video on Gryppers (Eugene and Morgan's product) earlier this year I thinkhttp://www.gopack.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/022714aaa.html

well, muschamp is available

Just need to get rid of Huxtable first.
11/16/2014 11:45:55 AM
he (hux) did a pretty good job against wake forest. they had been turning it on late in the season and he shut them down. lets give him time to get his guys.[Edited on November 16, 2014 at 11:53 AM. Reason : j]
11/16/2014 11:53:36 AM
No. Wake's offense has not been turning it on lately
11/16/2014 11:54:17 AM
in their previous 4 games prior to yesterday, Wake had 119 total yards against Clemson, 242 against BC, 170 against Syracuse, and 126 against FSU164/game
11/16/2014 12:01:32 PM
^exactly lol. only reason they were in the Clemson game was because they took advantage of some Clemson turnovers that gave them great field position.
11/16/2014 12:17:16 PM
granted 2 of those teams have pretty good defenses, but there's nothing about those stats that say "turning it around"
11/16/2014 12:21:28 PM
I will give some credit to the staff for showing signs of defensive improvement over the season. D showed improvement vs Louisville and Cuse (and sure, throw Wake in there if you want). Neither of those offenses are prolific, but earlier in the season the D didn't look capable of stopping anybody. The GT game was a huge step back for the D, but I don't think that was unexpected given their non-traditional offense.
11/16/2014 12:30:39 PM
I was skeptical after watching us lay eggs against teams like BC and Ga. Southern (yes, we won, but a 1 point win over a transitioning team? Get real), struggle to beat transitioning ODU, and show barely any life against Clemson after at least putting in good effort against FSU. Our 6 wins this year are against pretty bad competition. Compare that to TOB's first 6 win season, where we at least had decent wins over Miami and ECU and a stomping of UNC. The UNC verdict is out, of course. I would have liked at least 1 win over a quality opponent, but at least there's hope now. A big UNC win can make a big difference now.
11/16/2014 12:40:29 PM
GT's offense is super traditional. That's old school football. I don't think it's the option game that kills us. Our defense can't stop any running game.
11/16/2014 12:42:48 PM
you want quality opponents? how does vs Troy, @ODU, @South Alabama, and vs EKU sound to ya??
11/16/2014 12:43:58 PM
Yeah lets compare a team with like 8 nfl starters to this years team.

that OOC schedule is gross
11/16/2014 7:15:36 PM
I mean...I guess if we wanted to steal some recruits in Hampton Roads from VT and UVA...but unless we've got some serious lines on some kids in Alabama that are SEC-caliber and willing to come up here I don't know how that trip helps.
11/16/2014 7:42:34 PM
http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/acc/nc-state-wolfpack.phpthe 2017 schedule isn't too bad
11/16/2014 7:53:05 PM
Lol at the Western Carolina game in 2024. Glad we got that locked in. And yes next year's schedule is horrendous. Plus two road games against shit teams? WTF??
11/16/2014 8:00:52 PM
The @ODU game could make sense for recruiting, but @USA I would think would get bought out. Not sure how the timing on that works though.
11/16/2014 8:09:49 PM
^^ 2024 will be Matt Canada's 8th year as head coach. We'll be a perennial top-10 by then.
11/16/2014 8:20:50 PM
Fuck me running, that out of conference schedule sucks.I swear, we used to play at least ONE quality OOC game a year against a P5 school. I understand you gotta schedule your easy wins, but goddamn, son. At least try to give your fans something to look forward to.
11/16/2014 9:04:15 PM
Maybe nobody worth a damn wants to play us?
11/16/2014 9:08:30 PM
^THEY SCARED OF USAlso, didn't the ACC agree that all teams would play another P5 team in OOC each year?
11/16/2014 9:17:16 PM
i'm quite alright with another cupcake OOC schedule next year to get us (hopefully) 4 easy wins. no need to start scheduling too tough until we prove we can soundly beat the cupcakes each year (in other words, no Richmond of 2013 or Georgia Southern of 2014). Besides, we have ECU and ND in 2016.
11/16/2014 9:19:59 PM
yeah we barely became bowl eligible with this schedule...so i'm not gonna complain too much about a weak OOC schedule next year. even if it makes going to and watching the games less exciting
11/16/2014 9:41:49 PM
wrong thread, but UVa has a nice looking schedule next year. @ UCLA, vs Boise State, vs Notre Dame, vs William & Mary
11/16/2014 9:47:38 PM
on the other hand, I sat next to a dude who was complaining about the quality of our opponents while we were still down 14 points to Georgia Southern
11/16/2014 9:49:52 PM
Regardless of our OOC schedule, we will be playing some mid-level/touch IC teams. FSU, Clemson, LU, Carolina and (Coastal Team if they are not bad that year). As much as I hate that we probably have the worst OOC schedule for a P5 team, it is nice to at least assume stumble by four basic wins. If we continue to build up then we can assume 6-7 wins a year with the 4 automatic wins, SU, and WF. Given we'll probably only be at 6-7 wins for the next 2 years, because as we've seen Richmond and GS almost beat us.[Edited on November 16, 2014 at 11:34 PM. Reason : grammar ]
