I bought my front tire from online (bikebandit.com iirc) for 40% less than local retailers. When the front tire needs to be replaced, I'm going to take it to cycle gear and have them mount it for ~$15 or so.

knowing those old ironheads it probably has been several times. it's a gearhead's bike...true when it was brand new, true at 40 years old

but it better be in good fucking shape to be asking $10.5k for it. Craigslist just cracks me up...I wouldn't post an ad for a damn bookshelf without a picture and this dude has a '73 sportster with no information on its condition or "exceries" up for over ten grand and only a shitty picture OF a shitty picture.

I rode 643 Miles in a 48 hour period this weekend on the r1200r. I loved it. What a fantastic motorcycle. I'm so happy I got this.

But now I've got the fever... I don't want to stop riding...

rode with beatsunc out for a guided motorcycle tour for a couple hours today of north wake and east durham countys. good times. got to ride his fz6 for some of the way. thing sticks to the pavement like glue around the bends but i kept forgetting the powerband is about 4k RPMs higher being used to my R1200R.

Picked up my leather onesie and a snell helmet. I'm just about ready for track days! Looking at getting a GoPro and thinking about getting a Dainese Shield Air Back Protector. I tried one and really liked it, but at ~$150, I'm curious what other options I should consider...

^not to be an ass, but riding dirt will not lend to riding on the street

turns, traction, posture, the need to slip the clutch

dirt most certainly translates to the street. your body position might default to something different but the limit of traction is the limit of traction and the dirt is a much safer place to find it. all the world class road racing talent practices in the dirt for a reason. checkout cornerspin after you learn to ride for a bit. I might even be able to get you a discount

Any of you guys had any luck getting a stubborn SO over her fear of riding? Never had any problems before but my gf now just wont do it willingly. Normally I'm perfectly fine with that, prefer it actually, but once in a while on a beautiful day like today would be fun. 2.5 years and she's still only ridden once

Sat on a S1000RR at the BMW dealership today... A bit uncomfortable for my taste, and WAY too much bike for me right now...

Wife says I look dead sexy on it.

FML, now I have to get one*..

picked the bike up Friday. it ran like a champ. I sent it back with my grandparents to Calabash (they were up for graduation). I plan to head down there and get a membership at carolina backwoods, which is about a mile away, and ride all week. I work from home so I could be down there a while haha.

haha, fucking DUH--it's a race-replica. Comfort was not a design consideration in the slightest.

and hell yeah it's too much bike. I wish they'd make an S600RR; I'd be all over that shit.

I kinda-sorta want one of their hot-rod R-series (boxer) sportbikes.

lol... Just because it's a race-replica doesn't mean it can't have a comfortable saddle Not a drawback, just an observation. I'm sure I'd be grinning ear to ear nonstop if I had one, comfortable seat or not.

Gotta get a few years of experience before I can consider thrashing a bike of that caliber (and price) around a track.

Btw, interesting read about BMW's telelever front suspension.

FML.

Got the dirt bike down to SC where I was going to leave it and ride. Never got it started again. Changed the plug, fluids, etc. nothing.

Took it to a mechanic. Guy said that the kid that sold it to me probably rigged the bike to run for about 20 minutes and knowing full well that it would blow up. The entire head is ruined and will cost well over $1,000 to fix. I paid $2,000 for the bike and never even got to ride it. The bastard was a recent college grad from ECU - go figure.

Now I get to decide whether to sink another $1,000+ into this bike (not even sure if the bottom end is gone) or to sell it to my friend for $700 and take a $1300 loss.

Have wanted a motocycle my entire life and when I finally get enough money together to buy one, this shit happens. I checked everything that I could before I bought it, and it ran strong as hell when I saw it, but I guess I'm a sucker.

^ I'm so sorry to hear that. I wonder if maybe you could take that kid to small claims or something? Surely there's a law on something intentional like that...

Rode to Saxapahaw and back. Beautiful day, wonderful trip, tired as hell...

I was thinking about that. Maybe I'll talk to an attorney, but as far as craigslist goes usually you're stuck with what you get.

I used to ride, but after a minor accident (not my fault) and a near miss (also not my fault), I'm too timid now. I keep thinking about selling it, but then I wonder if I want to have it around in case gas prices spike.

On that note, anyone interested in purchasing a 2009 Yamaha V-Star 650? I only put about 1000 miles on it. It's in great condition. PM me if you want details or pictures.

that sucks. one of the things i like about my 2 stroke is they are easier to start and cheaper to repair than 4 strokes. plus i love the sound and smell.
