I would suggest doing Dwarf/Gnome or Human. You COULD do Night elf and book it over to the eastern kingdoms early or wait it out in darkshore/felwood/ashenvale. I just think the eastern kingdom and its areas are really well done.Ding 54[Edited on June 27, 2005 at 11:45 AM. Reason : *]

i have only played alliance, so i don't know too much about horde-side quests and whatnot, but i took my priest alt to wailing caverns to get a few things and i can say that i LOVE wailing caverns compared to deadmines. i thought it was so much better designed, had more open exploration, and was nice to have the thing about having to kill several bosses before being able to get to the final boss, etc. i also really liked shadowfang keep, even though i had no quests for it.
6/27/2005 11:44:14 AM
Wailing Caverns is a blast with a good groupbut its huge and takes a while. Deadmines is realatively short compared to WC and somewhat easier in my experience.
6/27/2005 11:46:49 AM
^^^ yea i would def go for something on the other continent. any of those 3 races. i might start one up on another pvp server in July sometime.
6/27/2005 11:48:43 AM
and if you make an alliance priest, please make it a dwarf. fear ward is too good not to get.
6/27/2005 11:50:44 AM
i got the warrior i just made up to lvl 17. how do you cancel spells? i haven't grouped with this char yet and i don't want to end up like the lvl 28 guy [Edited on June 27, 2005 at 12:23 PM. Reason : ]
6/27/2005 12:22:39 PM
shield bash will cancel any spell and prevent them from casting from that tree for 6 seconds.Of course this is hard if youre focusing on 2 handed weapons but I would definatley suggest becoming proficient at both 2h and 1h/shield and use them interchangably depending on the situation.[Edited on June 27, 2005 at 12:27 PM. Reason : *]
6/27/2005 12:26:51 PM
ah ok that makes sense.i'm focusing on 2h axe. is there anything else that would cancel a spell like that? i'm thinkin of an arms-heavy talent build with 2h and axe specs and then 5 points in cruelty (for crits).
6/27/2005 12:35:03 PM
You can use pummel, which interrupts the spell being cast for 5 seconds. also causes 15 damage. have to be level 20.My warrior was focused entirely on being a tank. All my points are in defense and aggro stuff.
6/27/2005 12:39:56 PM
my focus is to do the most damage possible. so would focusing on arms/damage stuff detract from my abilities to hold aggro? i know theres certain attacks that increase aggro (ie mocking blow).
6/27/2005 12:45:31 PM
actually it looks like pummel is lvl 38so you have a ways to go nah focusing on arms shouldnt detract from your ability to get aggro. I just like the defensive stance because i have options like taunt that has a quick cooldown.dealing a shitton of damage itself will help you keep aggro too.[Edited on June 27, 2005 at 12:49 PM. 6/27/2005 12:48:00 PM
ok.so basically, when organizing groups my type of warrior would be more of a DPS guy than a tank?
6/27/2005 12:50:10 PM
I would think so yes.My friend is a lvl 45 warrior and he went the damage/2h weapon route. He can keep aggro decent but he cant take damage like my guy can, so I generally try to keep the monsters attention while he chops them up.http://www.thottbot.com/?c=Warrior
6/27/2005 12:52:36 PM
to be honest...warriors arent really a dps class.....1h + shield is a solid tank .....taunts your groups best friend..you get more aggro with 2h'er thoalso sunder armor is a good aggro control cause mobs hate it
6/27/2005 12:53:36 PM
yeah i forgot about sunder armorand dont forget that shit stacks up to 5 times, so use it a lot
6/27/2005 12:57:59 PM
aight so as long as i get pummel @38 and keep aggro without getting my ass handed to me, i oughta be fine.
6/27/2005 12:59:53 PM
^yea def.and i know warriors arent supposed to be a DPS class but i hit pretty hard for a 38. my regular crits are 500-600 range (that i get every few hits or so) and with my executes critting i hit 1100-1400.35 rogue tried to attack me today when i had 300/1870 life after i had just finished off a mob of 3 lvl 33-34 bloodscalp warriors. unfortunately for him i had about 50% rage starting the battle. in desperation i went to berserkers stance for the chance at more crits. ( i saw him before he got to do anything to me..just sneaking up behind me).since he was slow i ran away turned around and intercepted him. mageweave bandage, berserkers rage, sunder armor, 500ish crit, whirlwind 400something crit execute for 400something(not much rage) and hes dead and im alive with more life than i started :p
6/27/2005 1:33:56 PM
yeah the guys i've talked to that play 2h axe said they crit for around 1500 at lvl 51-55. and i'm on a PvE server, so i don't have to worry about rogues sneaking up on me after i kill mobs
6/27/2005 1:36:34 PM
aw that takes half the fun out of it! but you know you could if you accidentally typed /pvp as soon as you finished with the mob all pvp servers for me tho. what server you on? if i ahvent already asked you
6/27/2005 1:38:35 PM
6/27/2005 1:42:52 PM
i'm on Zul'JinPvP servers sound like fun, i may hafta make an alt on one eventually. the only reason im on the PvE server is because my friend that got me to get the game was on Zul'Jin. One thing i really like about the PvE though is the "fellowship", i guess you would call it, that members of the same faction share. i play horde, and there have been times that a mob was about to kill me, and a random passer-by would either heal me or kill the mob to save my ass. also, some lvl 50 just randomly offered to run me through the WC and let me get all the drops. stuff like that most likely would never happen on a PvP server. although i must admit, a guy that plays alliance on my same server said that none of that happens w/alliance, so maybe it's just something about the horde players on Zul'Jin. Either way, i think it's pretty cool.
6/27/2005 1:45:55 PM
yeah i do shit like that all the time. give passers by blessings, help people out in a fight if i see them, etc.I havent offered to help someone through a dungeon before but there are definately a lot of nice peeps out there that will help you out if they can.
6/27/2005 1:47:41 PM
i should charge ppl to run em through lower level instances to raise money for my mount jk jk. yea i would help ppl out with instances...im finally high enough level to help with that some but now im to the point where i hardly get an hour here or there to play. im about to start fishing near WC again for deviate fish to sell on the AH. so ill prolly wind up helping a group throgh WC at some point.
6/27/2005 1:50:37 PM
well that's cool then.if i had just bought the game on my own, i probably would have joined the server you guys are on and done PvP. is it even possible to make characters on seperate servers w/1 account? i haven't tried. and do you think it'd be possible to switch one of my characters over to PvP at a later point in time when Blizzard allows you to switch?
6/27/2005 1:51:15 PM
yes you can make characters on any amount of servers you want i think. just not alliance and horde on same server with same account.and yes sometimes they allow migration in which case it might be possible to change to a PVP server but im not sure..other ppl in here might know better. altho i dont see how it would be a problem
6/27/2005 1:52:51 PM
you can have up to 8 characters per server. so yeah you can make as many characters as you want. just hit the 'change realm' button.Im on PVE because I have no patience for assholes and I KNOW that PVP servers are full of them. They allow you to switch to lower population servers of like gameplays. so you cant take a PVE character to a PVP server. and you cant choose your server, they will move it for you to whatever lower pop server they want. that and they dont always do it, there are certain times they let you apply for migration.[Edited on June 27, 2005 at 1:56 PM. 6/27/2005 1:54:51 PM
^yea that is true. sometimes its a huge pain in the butt. other times the challenge is really fun. i dont mind if i lose a 1on1 pvp battle or something reasonable. but sometimes it gets frustrating having 3 ??s camp a 30something corpse
6/27/2005 1:56:40 PM
cool thanks for all the info.^^^i actually made a lvl 1 night elf hunter on my account/server (that i decided not to play), so they must have dropped that restriction.[Edited on June 27, 2005 at 1:57 PM. Reason : ^]
6/27/2005 1:57:18 PM
maybe its only on PVP servers then. or maybe it was just an error, or like you said maybe they dropped the restriction. back when i made my alt on my server i was just seeing if i could make an ally out of curiosity. and it wouldnt let me.
6/27/2005 1:59:17 PM
yeah ive never heard of the no alliance/horde characters on the same server with the same account restriction.must have been early on
6/27/2005 2:07:30 PM
well then everyone disregard what i said in my earlier statement then thanks for the enlightenment guys[Edited on June 27, 2005 at 2:10 PM. Reason : ]
6/27/2005 2:09:56 PM
i think i remember hearing something about that back before the game was released (retail, not beta), but then i never saw it in the actual game.i wouldn't really have cared that much though, because really alliance/horde on same server or alliance on one, horde on the other really isn't that different. it's not like you could play alliance and run around doing quests with your horde buddies anyway.
6/27/2005 2:12:05 PM
well you can use the neutral AH to get stuff between characters.takes timing and some risk though.
6/27/2005 2:16:46 PM
yeah that's true, i forgot about that.i guess that'd be good if you got an awesome pally drop w/your horde character and wanted to sell it at the alliance AH for better profit.
6/27/2005 2:19:11 PM
whats the neutral AH?
6/27/2005 2:19:40 PM
i think it's in Gadget. i've never been to it though[Edited on June 27, 2005 at 2:23 PM. Reason : ]
6/27/2005 2:23:07 PM
interesting. i had never even heard of this
6/27/2005 2:28:08 PM
yeah its in gadgetzan south of the shimmering flats in thousand needles.Im not sure how it works on PvP servers. wouldnt it just be a bunch of death?
6/27/2005 3:15:42 PM
yea haha...im assuming its not even going to be worth it if i try and go there. ive been in the shimmering flats and i know the road that goes south..suicidal curiosity may get the best of me someday
6/27/2005 3:16:50 PM
gadget is a semi safe place to go... depends on the server... the AH is mostly useless though almost no one uses it
6/27/2005 3:23:55 PM
if noone uses it it may be more beneficial to switching items between horde and alliance characters
6/27/2005 3:26:12 PM
ive been reading about these whelplings that dragons in the badlands and dustwallow marsh drop. im guessing since most of you are always more ahead of hte ball than me taht you know what these are. if not they are just another pet like cats or cockroaches etc. but they are a lot more rare and ppl on thottbot were saying they sold the whelplings for anywhere from 30g-100g..some ppl got one on their first,2nd,or 3rd kill..some ppl have gotten multiple ones, some ppl have killed 1000 and not gotten one..im thinking about trying it sometime tho. maybe taking my 58 mage friend and leveling as many of these dragons as we can find..if i could find one i could most likely pay for most of my mount this way if it sells even for 30g
6/27/2005 3:27:31 PM
yeah b/c then you could price it at 1s or w/ever and have less risk of someone snagging it before your other character.i guess if you were really rich on both characters, you could just put an item up w/each char and price em at $texas to prevent that from happening.
6/27/2005 3:28:57 PM
^thats the idea.though its dangerous since there wont hardly be anything up, yours will stick out like a sore thumb and someone could gank it.ive not heard of these dragon whelps. That would be cool to get one. although my orange tabby is quite the cool cat pun intended
6/27/2005 3:30:44 PM
yeah, that's why it'd be best if you were rich on both characters, then you could just overprice it so much that no one would even consider buying it, but if they did then hey, you just made a shit-ton of money.
6/27/2005 3:34:36 PM
yea i just looked up more on them. tiny black, tiny emerald, and tiny crimson whelplings drop off different whelps/dragons in the world. the crimson ones sound easiest to get and sell b/w 25-50G from what ppl said. it has a better drop rate and the creatures that drop it are 24-27 instead of 40s like the other ones..i could drop em fast...only problem is that its in teh wetlands which is ally territory right?emerald whelplings are found on 30something dreaming whelps in swamp of sorrows. i need to look up these territories and see which ones would be safest for me
6/27/2005 3:34:40 PM
wet lands is contested i thought but mainly alliance.where are the lvl 24-27 guys? wetlands? im gonna be there for a bit in a couple levels, that would be awesome to get out of it [Edited on June 27, 2005 at 3:37 PM. Reason : *]
6/27/2005 3:36:33 PM
yea the 24-27 guys are in the wetlands. the 30somethings in swamp of sorrows and the low 40s in badlands and dustwallow marshhttp://thottbot.com/?i=11674 <--- wetlands
6/27/2005 3:39:39 PM
awesome i have to get one of those.a dwarven paladin running around with a dragon. awesome
6/27/2005 3:42:59 PM
yea haha. i want one really bad. but if i get one im def selling it. im hoping my stacks of heavy silk bandages for the 2g i have them up for. other ppl had them up for 2g40s and 3g. so i put 2 stacks up each for 2g. hoping they sell. if they do that will help me as well. ill just farm SM for silk and sell stacks of heavy silkbandages. not as fast as id like but its another option
6/27/2005 3:45:24 PM
