9/15/2017 10:09:44 AM
Awesome.
9/15/2017 10:39:13 AM
NICE STARTS COACH!
9/15/2017 11:17:13 AM
that highlight video kills me. Nothing but dunking, with a sampled "yeaaa" audio snippet played every time it happens... talk about worthless highlight video.Welcome to the fam Bates!
9/15/2017 3:28:43 PM
Newsflash: every highlight video is worthless
9/15/2017 3:41:49 PM
^^the key takeaway is he is a shot blocker first. There's a reason you only saw him dunking. The hope is he will be a rotation guy behind some more well rounded recruits that haven't decided yet.
9/15/2017 3:50:57 PM
9/15/2017 3:56:14 PM
^^ N&O article's quote from him said something along the lines that keatts promised him he would start right away
9/16/2017 1:34:15 PM
i mean he basically will by defaultwe have no bigs on the roster for 2018
9/16/2017 2:57:36 PM
9/16/2017 2:58:09 PM
Yea diff bw "play" and "start"....If he starts its bc either he is better than expected or we failed to at recruiting
9/16/2017 3:17:01 PM
Kid looks like he can play. Love Keatts
9/17/2017 2:24:55 AM
As has been discussed, there's tons of available time in the post next year. Abu, Freeman, and almost certainly Yurt all gone. Hicks will be around...unsure if he'll be any good. That leaves Hicks and this new guy as basically the only bigs. Obviously we'll have plenty of open scholarships and probably look at grad transfers for some immediate impact. He may start. But whether he starts or not, we've got tons of PT to sell post recruits on for 2018.

From N&O:N.C. State basketball target Louis King, the No. 15 ranked prospect in the Class of 2018, is expected to announce today.King, a 6-8, 195-pound small forward plays for Hudson Catholic in Burlington, N.J. He is choosing between Oregon, N.C. State, Kansas, Purdue and Seton Hall. According to 247sports’ Crystal Ball Predictions, 92 percent of the 13 experts polled expect him to choose Oregon.
9/21/2017 4:50:19 PM
He chose Oregon
9/21/2017 6:03:56 PM
lol at 92% of 13
9/21/2017 7:01:52 PM
Only official visit he took was to Oregon. Not too surprising he pick em
9/21/2017 8:20:13 PM
I never heard of the guy until yesterday, sooo I'll go back to forgetting him
9/21/2017 8:54:51 PM
More importantly, 4* PF David Mccormack might pick Sunday. Looks like 247 is picking Kansas, but we should be right there. If we dont get him, we will be awful thin in the frontcourt next year.
9/21/2017 10:11:35 PM
yeah seems like KU is the favorite.Ian Steere decomitted from Creighton...he's teammates with Bates and we've offered him and recruiting him pretty hard apparently. he's a center 4*
9/22/2017 5:18:41 PM
I'm curious about the timing. Maybe coaches assumed McCormack was gone and turned it up with Steered...
9/22/2017 6:37:11 PM
McCormack to Kansas
9/24/2017 8:52:53 PM
OH NO, THE SKY IS FALLING[Edited on September 24, 2017 at 8:56 PM. Reason : a corn fell]
9/24/2017 8:55:49 PM
Steere is taking on OV here this coming weekend.
9/25/2017 6:34:49 AM
Looks like some of these 4* and 5* guys we lost to Arizona and Louisville might have been for a $pecific rea$on. Fallout of this federal investigation is going to be interesting.
9/26/2017 10:34:28 AM
It will still be wrapped up before UNC gets any punishment dont worry
9/26/2017 10:44:08 AM
which schoos do we need to boycott
9/26/2017 11:17:40 AM
With our luck, NC State will end up tangled in the investigation due to us being an Adidas school.
9/26/2017 11:33:23 AM
Should we be concerned? I had people on this thread tell me that NC State being an Adidas school played a factor into landing Dennis Smith.
9/26/2017 12:51:55 PM
I'd say so. We rank in the top 15 of one-and-done schools according to CBS Sports:https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/study-schools-with-most-early-nba-entries-in-one-and-done-era/Smith, Warren, Hickson, Brown? I made the post above yours jokingly, but now I'm thinking we should prepare for the worst.
9/26/2017 1:08:54 PM
Neither Warren nor Brown were one-and-done
9/26/2017 1:11:02 PM
they may have thought they were going to be at the time they signed.
9/26/2017 1:19:28 PM
Lol we've had 2 one and dones in our entire history and they played for different coaches^Lorenzo Brown came from prep school, he didn't even have to go to college. [Edited on September 26, 2017 at 1:44 PM. Reason : Brown]
9/26/2017 1:42:24 PM
Warren was never a "one-and-done" prospect, he was a 4* on most sites by the time he finished HS and he was a 6th man for us as a FR. Brown was also a 4* when he committed to us and ended up getting a bump to a 5th star when he went to a prep school. Once again, no one considered him a one-and-done. Harrow? Purvis? Neither were expected to be ready after 1 season. I'd say the only guys that signed in the last 5-10 years that was considered a POSSIBLE one-and-done would be Hickson, Leslie, Yurtseven, and DSJ. DSJ and Hickson being almost locks and Leslie and Yurtseven having potential.[Edited on September 26, 2017 at 2:10 PM. Reason : .]

9/26/2017 3:57:04 PM
From very briefly perusing the legal documents, it looks like it's all from 2016 at the earliest.
9/26/2017 4:01:03 PM
Steere, visiting this weekend, will announce his decision 10/6. timing seems to bode well for us but we'll see.
9/27/2017 3:41:50 PM
I'm pretty worried about the potential trickle from Louisville. basketball is so dirty. watch UNC skate by again through all this mess.
9/27/2017 3:47:34 PM
Brandon Costner got paid by Adidas. that was pretty well known at the time. As was hickson.CJ Leslie pretty much had it stamped on his forehead that he was holding out for more $ with his de-commitment after he blew up and re-commitment[Edited on September 27, 2017 at 3:51 PM. Reason : a]
9/27/2017 3:49:29 PM
UNC actually has an ever better chance of skating now. College sports are a business? Students are being exploited? Time to overhaul everything, so even though UNC broke the previous rules, the whole system needs to change, so why punish them when it's all going to restructure anyway?
9/27/2017 3:52:58 PM
I dont know how UNC skates. This has put the NCAA in a position where they have to hand down the harshest penalty possible, otherwise, what is the point of the NCAA other than to be a front for agents and show companies?
