Really, not one guy in the military convoy gets a shot off?
10/28/2012 9:54:20 PM
yupHe could've used those men to protect the wall. Or maybe he feared a takeover. Or maybe he just wanted their guns.
10/28/2012 9:55:00 PM
So is this Governor like a Ruby Ridge type that hates the government?Seems pretty grimy to waive a white flag then kill soldiers.
10/28/2012 9:55:59 PM
He's a bad man. And a sicko.
10/28/2012 10:01:54 PM
wtf is up with the heads.
10/28/2012 10:03:02 PM
so are those his trophies?
10/28/2012 10:03:17 PM
I liked the episode...i hope they don't start doing a full episode of woodbury, then a full episode of prison, and alternating...i'd like to see both of them in the same episode...i'm sure eventually the storylines will intertwine anyway.

Once again, I feel like I walk away with more questions than answers:1) Why do Michonne's two zombies start freaking out when the governor & his people appear. They even theorized that without the ability to eat, they lose interest in attacking people. What's up with that?2) I don't see why the Governor wouldn't want some trained soldiers with his group. They would be abled fighters, they could help train others, and they could even help with intel about the government's efforts other military bases potentially. It seems like the Governor's crew are all kind of thug like, and maybe soldiers would not put up with his crazy ass bullshit3) Why are Andrea & Michonne so welcomed, but the other people they found (pilot & solders) are killed. Maybe b/c they are women, and he wants them for repopulation purposes?4) That scientist dude loves him some tea. He filled his cup like 5 times while eating. I swear the Governor was 'drinking' from an empty cup. That scene had an awkward pretend tea party feel to it. Loud fake sips from empty cups.
10/28/2012 10:20:08 PM
1) good question. maybe they sense bad dudes? 2) he wanted their weapons/supplies. also they were big enough to pose a threat to his group and his leadership (being remnants of the government, people might look to them)3) andrea/merle connection perhaps? gender discrimination? imagine he's got some use in mind for them. and his offer to let them leave i would imagine is bullshit.4) what is the hidden meaning of the tea!?! haha
10/28/2012 10:41:09 PM
We don't have any solid explanation of what the "virus" is how it works, what the zombies are, etc.. You can't really get too upset if something they do doesn't fit your preconception of what they are. Even if a rock-solid scientific explanation were possible detailing every aspect of how the zombies work, the show doesn't owe you this.I suspect the Governor is trying to maintain a specific male/female ratio, which is at least one reason he killed the men.
10/28/2012 10:46:11 PM
i knew immediately the way the governor was acting when he found the soldiers was bad. and i hate to see that i was right. i think he really only wanted the guns, ammo, supplies, trucks, etc. for his little commune. and i agree, any forces of the government still alive and welcomed into the community could prove to act against him as people start gravitating towards the professional soldiers rather than some random dude, ie the governor.

DoeoJ, should you really be "hypothesizing" when you've read the books?on a more positive note, liking very much the way this season is turning out. no real duds yet for episodes and no major plot holes or super long stretches of dumb conversations. they still make some dumb decisions every now and then, but not like past seasons.[Edited on October 28, 2012 at 11:05 PM. Comic vs TV Show Comparison:Different: some thingsSame: some other thingsOmg spoilers, gtfo!!!!Seriously though, season 3 has started great. Having Merle in Woodberry is pretty cool. He seems to be one of the Governor's main lapdogs, making it very interesting to see him take orders from someone after his rogue ways in season 1.Best quote of the season so far is Michonne saying "I never stopped having my shit together". I am also wondering why Michonne wants to get out of Woodberry so badly. Where is she trying to go? Would she rather just be a out on her own at all times, or what. I know she is a strong willed and independent character, but she is finally at a place where she can unwind and calm the fuck down for a hot second.
10/29/2012 9:26:36 AM
I can understand the Governor destroying the national guard guys. 1) Woo artillery + convoy! 2) No extra mouths to feed 3) Like the zombie heads in fish tanks it and his subsequent lie to the citizens establish facts about the character and begin shaping the viewer opinion of him. My one question is how do Andrea, Michonne, Merle, or anyone else get brought in when these guys aren't? Is it a question of pumping them for info then murdering them like the Lt.?Bonus question: Does the actress playing Michonne get tired of making that face all the time?[Edited on October 29, 2012 at 9:45 AM. I think they keep a steaming pile of dog shit off screen when Michonne is acting. Or maybe her pissed off face is just really good CGI.
10/29/2012 9:54:39 AM
"Michonne, you were rude, and so I am taking away your really sweet ninja blade for a week. Now go to your room."[Edited on October 29, 2012 at 10:01 AM. Reason : .]

I suppose that the Governor probes any strangers for as much info as possible. During this time, he probably decides if he wants to keep them or not. Right now, he seems to be getting along with Andrea, but not Michonne. I can see that creating a problem if the Governor tries to kill or kick out Michonne. I assume Andrea will side with Michonne over the Governor, but I see this as a looming turning point if and when it happens.[Edited on October 29, 2012 at 10:38 AM. Reason : ]

too many shots of Michonne making a skeptical/angry squinted-eyes face. it became comical after about 8 times.
10/29/2012 3:39:15 PM
^agreed. It was very annoying. Its like she's trying to top Tara (from True Blood's) role as the pissed off black chick.
10/29/2012 4:06:44 PM
I'm surprised they didn't show rick et al at all.
10/29/2012 6:59:43 PM
^I'm not. Would have been a really disjointed situation doing it like that IMO. Besides, Michonne and Andrea really had not gotten much of any screen time, and to develop them I think they needed an episode. This is an interesting way to intro Woodbury, and the ambush of the convoy is a very different way to explain their weapons that they have.I must say that I am actually enjoying the episode more after reading the comics. I'm at like 42, so I am not done by any means, but it is quite a different viewing experience IMO.
10/29/2012 8:00:20 PM
Why all the dissing on Michonne. I'm really thinking/hoping she's gearing up to kick some ass in a big way. I wonder if Merle is going to make it through to meet back up with Darryl.
10/29/2012 8:37:58 PM
oh you know it, there's no way they don't have merle and darryl meet back up.though i suppose darryl finding out merle was alive then died due to the actions of the group could tip him over the edge. though i hope darryl stays around, he's one of my favorite characters.
10/29/2012 8:41:18 PM
So how many episodes until Merle sleeps with Michonne and recants his racist ways???
10/29/2012 8:46:29 PM
Still wondering what the whole head thing is about. They were all still "alive" right? I assume his scientist guy preps them for him.
10/29/2012 8:57:16 PM
maybe he makes tea from the head juices
10/29/2012 9:06:32 PM

not having read the comics, michonne has not impressed me as of yet. Sure she has her sword and pet zombies walkers (have they even used the word "zombie" on the show?), but besides those and her permascowl, what has she brought to the table so far? not much.
10/29/2012 9:27:56 PM
I too am disappointed to not know every little bit of her history and motivation from the 15 minutes of screen time she has had the entire series
10/29/2012 9:31:48 PM
my point is that people are drooling over her but she hasn't done anything yet (in the show) to be drool worthy.
10/30/2012 12:36:45 AM
my problem with her is that of the 15 minutes of screen time she's had (spread across multiple days), she's had pretty much the same expression and attitude the entire time. She's not entirely one-dimensional, she has been very caring toward Andrea. But that's not as much of a bother to me as not understanding her actions. She is not privy to the same information as the audience. She has no reason (that we know of) to not be relaxed and calm in the town. It would be a relief to most people to be in a seemingly safe environment like that after all of that time looking over your shoulder. Even bringing them in at gunpoint and taking their weapons is reasonable since they are strangers and need to make sure her and Andrea aren't dangerous or trouble of any sort. Yet for some unknown reason, she's got an attitude and a desire to just get out of there. Right now, based on what we know she knows and what we know she doesn't know, her reaction is not sensible imo. It's fine if she has some motive for that, but it's going to be extremely annoying for them to drag that out too long before sharing it with the audience. We're not at that point yet, but we're getting there imo considering that most of her screen time this episode was just her bitching about wanting to get her weapons and get out of there. And if there is no legitimate motive for her to be acting that way, then it's just annoying.
10/30/2012 12:50:11 AM
Ever hear of PTSD?
10/30/2012 12:54:03 AM
she's a fucking soldier, not some domesticated chick like andrea forced into the zombie world, who can semi-appreciate being in a relatively peaceful setting, enjoying the safety of a good night's restthere is supposed to be an element of shrouded mystery that we're not supposed to know about her, from her refusing to disclose whether or not the chained up zombies were former friends/family or just randoms to mask her human smell, to always having her warface on and watching her back...she apparently thinks something is afoul in the town and with the guvna, and based on what the audience knows, she's right that the governor is into some shiti'm as interested as anyone else to see where the story continues to go, but i don't have any issues with how she's been portrayed thus far
10/30/2012 1:23:39 AM
^^ You think she has PTSD? $50 says that plot line doesn't pan out.^ She's a soldier? I don't think I saw anything about that yet. Not trying to be a dick, but the sentence structure of your first comment is a little confusing. Are you suggesting that Michonne doesn't appreciate the place like Andrea does because Michonne is a soldier? Or are you saying she does appreciate it because she's a soldier. From the rest of your post, I'm thinking you're trying to say that she's a soldier/bad ass, unlike Andrea who's domesticated, and therefore isn't as head over heels for the place. And I could get that to some extent. But they have no reason to not rest and check the place out at this point. They don't have to commit to making it their home. But to just want to b-line out of there is odd.Have you read the comics? I'm just asking because I think knowing things about the character could change how you perceive her on-screen presence. I haven't read the comics. At first, I thought she was really bad ass. Now I'm kinda like... ehh, she's really good at scowling. And that was already getting annoying within just the last episode.
10/30/2012 2:21:09 AM
sorry, when i said she is a 'soldier' i didn't mean literally military (though i don't know), i just meant a badass who doesn't give a fucki've only read enough comics to where rick reaches the camp and the women are doing laundry, no idea of what michone's role is in the comicsi just thought it was a good episode that certainly does a lot more to show what type of character the governor is, while we the audience are still left wondering about what michone's past/present is all about
10/30/2012 2:30:39 AM
i guess the gov and rick meet for the first time nexy ephe will prolly want rick to lend a handalthough i dont see that happening
10/30/2012 3:34:15 AM
So after cutting a zombie's head off, the head is still alive?I'm pretty sure we've seen the group cut heads off before, and just leave them behind without "killing" them for good...Guess it doesn't matter if it is just a head laying there.
10/30/2012 5:52:01 AM
They've shown several times where a head was just laying on the ground still trying to bite. That part isn't new.And even though she didn't give her reasoning, didn't Michone flat out tell Andrea that she felt like something wasn't right with Woodbury? At this point for all we know it could just be extreme paranoia and lack of trust for others, but that wouldn't explain her helping Andrea. Hopefully we'll get a little more in the next few weeks.I can't really blame her though when she sees this group who is pretty well off roll up, take them at gun point, take their weapons, keep them under constant watch even though they are now unarmed, and they have taken several different approaches to trying to get information from the two of them already. For someone who is already a little paranoid, that is probably enough to create some doubt in her mind.
10/30/2012 7:25:36 AM
10/30/2012 7:37:08 AM
Also, I imagine part of her survival has been trusting her instincts + a healthy dose of paranoia. We've seen a few times on this show already where other survivors couldn't be trusted/were psychopaths: Sean, Merle, the governor. I like to think that Michonne has encountered someone before who tried to take advantage of her and had to handle them. Just look at games like DayZ.
