Two friends made a movie about Jay DeMerit's story and they're trying to get financing to release it. The movie's done but the cost of licensing for the few minutes of game action they show is ridiculous. Here's an interview with the director and a link to the trailer.http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/football-league-blog/2011/apr/04/jay-demerit-watford-usa-filmHere's the Kickstarter link. I pledged $25, which gets you the DVD when it's released. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1370261090/rise-and-shine-the-jay-demerit-story

i watched a bunch of youtube videos last night about him last night. They might not have been from the documentary but he was telling his story.I think the remaining amount is something USA soccer should be happy to pay for. What a great way to grow the game in this country than a story about a kid from green bay that made it to englands top league and the world cup.
5/10/2011 11:01:25 AM
US Soccer probably doesn't want to highlight the fact that their pathetic youth system failed this guy and he had to go to England for a career
5/10/2011 11:11:31 AM
yes they probably wouldn't want to show that. Jay even said in the interview that he would have to fight through trials and play with development teams in europe and the states but choose to go to be able to see europe too.Like I said I don't think it is from the movie but it has to be pretty similar. It is under USA soccer youtube channel as like June 17, 2010 part 1 and the second part is like June 20, part 2. Sorry I can't link it for you I am at work.

Sepp Blatter is scared he could lose his job and FIFA might not survive...http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/othersports/2015050003_digs14.htmlWith that being said, I kind of agree with him. Does the world really want someone from Qatar at the top? Then again, the damage has been done, so it doesn't matter.

http://www.ussoccer.com/Teams/US-Men/2011-Rosters/110523-Gold-Cup.aspxPretty strong lineup, very similar to the Argentina / Paraguay squad. Glad to see Robbie Rogers on the list again.
5/23/2011 4:51:51 PM
Not a bad lineup at all. I fully expect to be in the final with that roster. Not sold on Rogers. I'd rather have Bedoya for that spot. Disappointed that Chandler isn't playing in the GC. I was really looking forward to seeing what he could do. ADU? WHAT?
5/23/2011 4:58:30 PM
i was gonna say the same thing about chandler not being on the roster. He looked awesome at right back, and i'd like to see us develop him some more. Nothing against cherundulo, but chandler was destroying people against argentina.
5/23/2011 5:06:30 PM
good looking rosterI might name my dog Agudelo btw in honor of the great American hope up front
5/23/2011 5:59:56 PM
5/23/2011 8:27:40 PM
oh shit, i thought it was a joke about adu being back in the squad. i'm kinda excited to see if he can do anything, but i'm not expecting much.
5/23/2011 10:30:52 PM
Looks like the USMNT is training in Cary again starting Thursday and should be around through the weekend. Railhawks are trying to set up a chance for a public event again but haven't heard anything confirmed yet.
5/24/2011 8:30:11 AM
training for gold cup?
5/24/2011 6:59:17 PM
A revote would be nice, but Blatter is probably just playing politics, so he doesn't get beat by that guy from Qatar.http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/qatar-may-be-stripped-of-world-cup-says-blatter-2286520.html[Edited on May 25, 2011 at 1:55 AM. Reason : .]
5/25/2011 1:53:46 AM
i wouldn't complain if they re-voted and england wonbut you know we deserve that shit
5/25/2011 2:50:25 AM
^England wasn't in the running for the 2022 World Cup so wouldn't it go to either USA, Japan, or Australia?
5/25/2011 9:22:08 AM
^South Korea, USA, and Australia were in the running. Maybe Japan was in there too though. With that being said, FIFA can do whatever they want, so they could change the rules for a revote and give it to Holland, if they wanted to. As for England, there is no way they would win a revote, if they don't vote in the FIFA presidential election.
5/25/2011 8:52:05 PM
Sorry, got the 2018 England bid confused with 2022.
5/26/2011 4:11:45 AM
Looks like there is photographic and electronic (text message) evidence against Bin Hammam and Warner. I wonder if Qatar's selection will now be challenged since there was obviously money switching hands, although there is no proof of him acting on the behalf of the Qatari FA, who will probably claim ignorance even though they were accused of the same shit.
5/30/2011 2:07:30 PM
^I just hope that guy from Qatar doesn't beat out Blatter for the FIFA Presidency. Qatar would keep 2022 (they will anyway) and the middle east would probably get multiple World Cups in a row.
5/30/2011 2:38:11 PM
he withdrew from the election alreadyand nobody gets multiple WCs in a row
5/30/2011 3:10:22 PM
^Yeah I know, but FIFA changes the rules when they feel like it and money talks. My guess is this whole disaster with Qatar has probably given the USA a pretty good chance to get the 2026 World Cup, if they want to bid.
5/30/2011 3:12:57 PM
but the disaster (at least for now) has nothing to do with the Qatar bid
5/30/2011 3:32:42 PM
Honestly I can't see them revoking Qatar's world cup without any hard evidence even though Blatter hinted that it was a possibility. The best that could come from this is a few lifetime bans and some slight reform, especially to the procedures for world cup selection, but my guess is that new rules wouldn't be imposed until the next selection process.
5/30/2011 4:05:14 PM
actually the disaster does have to do with the Qatar bid, because a private email brought up today from a high ranking official basically accuses bin Hammam of buying WC 22.
5/30/2011 4:15:24 PM
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/924699/sepp-blatter-denies-fifa-is-in-crisis?cc=5901It appears as if the new plan is to pat each other on the back and sweep the whole thing under the rug.
5/30/2011 4:19:50 PM
^^Exactly and now FIFA knows they owe us a World Cup.
5/30/2011 6:21:48 PM
sorry if i wasn't clear...i was talking to aimorris.
5/30/2011 6:27:35 PM
There's no investigation or "disaster" relating to the bid though as the author of the email has already clarified what he meant, whether you believe him or not
5/30/2011 7:03:32 PM
^The Qatar bid was a disaster. IIRC, it was the only place that FIFA said was not fit for hosting and they had many concerns with Qatar. Then they somehow earned the bid over Australia, USA, and Korea Republic. Now they have to play politics and save face by giving 2026 to one of those nations if they want it, just to make themselves look good.
5/30/2011 7:22:57 PM
Yeah man I'm up to speed on the bids and their historySouth Africa 2010 bid was a "disaster" even months before the tournament started too. But the thing is - FIFA doesn't give a fuck what the public thinks and doesn't do anything to "make themselves look good." Bin Hamann withdrawing from the race is probably a guarantee Blatter will leave the Qatar bid alone[Edited on May 30, 2011 at 8:54 PM. Reason : .]
5/30/2011 8:53:57 PM
Chuck Blazer out now. This FIFA thing is getting more insane. I wonder if US Soccer will actually do something? Nahhhhhhhh.
5/31/2011 6:40:38 PM
Wrong.
6/2/2011 3:36:21 PM
Was that in response to my statement? Yeah, it was wrong but it wasn't for a lack of trying by the acting Pres. Oh well.Looking forward to the game on Saturday. Doubt we play a strong side for it due to the Gold Cup though.
6/2/2011 3:49:15 PM
I'm glad that the game vs. Spain on Saturday is on ESPN and some channel that I don't have.
6/2/2011 6:40:02 PM
A friend ran into these guys at a bar last night.. I had no idea they were in town
6/3/2011 2:59:40 AM
Looking forward to Spain this afternoon.I'm scared though because I'm sure they are going to want payback from that Confederation's Cup embarrassment we put on them.
6/4/2011 10:48:07 AM
haha yeah I'm sure those world cup winners have lost lots of sleep over it
6/4/2011 11:10:15 AM
No Landy this afternoon due to illness.
6/4/2011 1:45:08 PM
"illness" is probably code for we don't want him to get hurt before GC
6/4/2011 1:46:45 PM
That's fine with me.
6/4/2011 1:48:18 PM
Perhaps. Regardless, my we gonna get raped meter just went from 9 to 10.

6/4/2011 5:31:23 PM
It would be nice to schedule teams we're on equal footing with (like England, right kiljadn?) and not get blown out like this or bunker like assholes against Argentina... but USSF's gotta get that $$$$$$
