^^I live in NY and have a buddy who works part time at the Nintendo store...this probably does not help you
1/23/2007 12:50:39 PM
No it doesent unless your buddy wouldnt mind helping out a stranger in raleigh, nc.What it does do is help prove that the employees and cronies of these video game / electronics stores are controlling the supply of Wiis to the public as they see fit. I guess thats a nice perk for working in a video game store, but man it really screws over those of us who just want the pandemonium to stop so we can get one for regulat retail price
1/23/2007 1:20:22 PM
I agree...although he was only able to snag 1 extra one and I've been bugging him every day solid since the launch.I think the guys waiting on line every day are the real problem. The Nintendo store has like thousands in stock or something but they only sell 20-50 per day because they know that as soon as the word gets out all the assholes who sell them online start to show up.For a while they were selling them in the morning every day, but eventually figured out that it was always the same people waiting in line. Now they sell them at random points throughout the day, but still have to deal with these guys because they have nothing better to do than sit across the street staring into the store and just wait.
1/23/2007 1:32:38 PM
That sounds like the most retarded thing ever. Why not just sell them all 10,000 units. Whats it to nintendo. Maybe the scalpers will take a bath and lose a ton of money.
1/23/2007 1:38:16 PM
^Ill tell ya whats wrong with that ~While those bastards bathe in PayPal money and swim in a sea of new consoles in their spare bedrooms, I still cant find a Wii for under $400 + S&H !!!DAMMIT!!! Nintendo probably loves this though, really is great pub for the Wii launch after getting killed by PS/Xbox with the GC. If you make them suffer for it they will love you for it, kinda thing.....
1/23/2007 1:43:54 PM
Because the scalpers wont take a bath. As long as they control the wii's and the stores don't have any they won't sell for cheap
1/23/2007 1:45:33 PM
^it will catch up with them soon enough....eventually the pool of end buyers willing to pay the premium on ebay will dwindle, and the premiums will be next to nothing. seems like we are getting very close to most people saying "fuck it" i'll wait for them to be in stores at standard price, i mean really why buy now for 400+ if you could just wait 3 weeks and get one for 259
1/23/2007 2:09:44 PM
^ I hope that's what it comes down to, I honestly hope every dick who stood on line just to turn around and sell it gets stuck. But they won't because they can just return them.
1/23/2007 2:15:18 PM
^^ If I only have to wait another 3 weeks to get mine for $250, then I will be happy. I get the feeling that the Wii pandemonium isnt anywhere close to being over.....
1/23/2007 2:19:46 PM
1/23/2007 2:45:50 PM
^no they haven't2 months ago was 1 month before x-mas, where the biggest runs on game systems happens every year...hell the damn DS was sold out before x-mas this year. it has essentially been 3.5 weeks since x-mas, it will slow soon. i would bet by the end of february, so one month from now you will be able to walk in a store and get a wii more times then they are sold out
1/23/2007 3:05:52 PM
last i heard (a few weeks ago), it was being discussed on the news that the supply should equal the demand in march, so if you can just walk in and buy one sooner than that without waiting, then consider yourself lucky...i got mine because i happened to be walking by in target as they unloaded the wiis
1/23/2007 8:32:27 PM
i just got 2 from amazon for $250/ea. shipped[Edited on January 23, 2007 at 9:36 PM. Reason : ea.]
1/23/2007 9:36:20 PM
^^there is your answer ^and march is about 33 days away, so i think i would just wait at this point
1/23/2007 10:09:42 PM
but this is amazon we're talking about and the stock was gone in <30 minutes... i got luckyhttp://www.outtastock.com/wii/
1/23/2007 10:30:27 PM
^not saying we are there yet....but it is getting close
1/23/2007 11:31:39 PM
Recordings of the radio hosts discussing the water drinking contest are available on youtube. Kinda funny to hear them joke about someone dying like it'd never happen.
1/24/2007 12:34:55 AM
30 minute windows to buy a wii before theyre gone online? wow. thats still ridiculous.Amazon.com Wii pricing a few hours after the apparent "stock" was in...http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0009VXBAQ/sr=8-1/qid=1169618591/ref=pd_bbs_sr_olp_1/102-5098851-8564969?ie=UTF8&s=videogames[Edited on January 24, 2007 at 1:07 AM. 1/24/2007 1:06:32 AM
^^linky?
1/24/2007 10:53:56 AM
I wish there was a way to make Miis on the internet somewhere and then send them to my Wii...work is boring
1/24/2007 11:12:14 AM
ebay average right now is ~$340 shippedhttp://search-completed.ebay.com/nintendo-wii_W0QQa10244Z24269QQa14Z56670QQalistZa10244Q2ca14QQcatrefZC12QQcoactionZcompareQQcoentrypageZsearchQQcopagenumZ1QQfisZ2QQfromZR10QQfrppZ50QQfsooZ2QQfsopZ1QQgcsZ1134QQmaxrecordsreturnedZ300QQpfidZ1412QQpfmodeZ2QQreqtypeZ1QQsacatZQ2d100[Edited on January 24, 2007 at 12:50 PM. 1/24/2007 12:47:55 PM
^thats not a whole lot of profit....what are they 259 retail?
1/24/2007 4:37:40 PM
249.99
1/24/2007 4:41:52 PM
$340 is still a $91 dollar markup and a 36% profit. I better get a lapdance or something with that damn Wii if I'm tipping that well....
1/24/2007 4:51:51 PM
with shipping, which has to cost a few bucksi just think when the profits drop below 50 bucks there is no reason to go wait outside stores for systems

Asheville best buy had wiis in stock at 4 this afternoon, I didnt ask how many they had though
1/24/2007 8:47:39 PM
^ I still say the tide is turning
1/24/2007 9:53:57 PM
Well I entered a maximum bid on one on ebay just for the heck of it, thinking I would surely be outbid. Oops. Guess I'm getting one unless I get outbid in the next 10 hours. It's a system and Zelda: Twilight Princess and I'm currently winning with a bid of $250. I believe there is $30 shipping. But I'm having second thoughts. Anyone want to outbid me?
1/25/2007 2:49:35 AM
^ come on, you know that all ebay bids take place in the last 5 minutes right?
1/25/2007 4:38:27 AM
Usually, but I've had stranger things happen on ebay.
1/25/2007 4:48:48 AM
And I've been outbid.
1/25/2007 4:51:05 AM
I think I'll get one of these instead
1/25/2007 5:12:41 AM
target near the raleigh grande supposedly has some wiis. according to itrackr, they just some in stock.
1/25/2007 9:29:11 AM
damn i live quarter of mile away from there, wish i would have checked this thread before i left for work
1/25/2007 9:45:36 AM
i just stopped by that Target, nothing was outhttp://crayz.org/target_wii.php?zip=27603[Edited on January 25, 2007 at 11:53 AM. Reason : although several of the other targets are now showing wiis in stock]
1/25/2007 11:31:09 AM
looks like they're all over the place now:http://crayz.org/target_wii.php?zip=27603
1/25/2007 2:14:26 PM
yeah, i think i'm done trying to chase down wiisi went to a circuit city and two targets today following that website (both were sold out before I got there 10 minutes later). The lady at Target (at Brier Creek) told me their shipments come in at noon. They got 1 in today and it was gone as soon as it was delivered. There was 3 different guys that checked on the wiis (on the shelf) in the 15 minutes I was waiting in line to ask her.
1/25/2007 2:58:58 PM
^ WOW. Thats pandemonium right there. Thanks for letting me know that so I wont waste my time trying to find one based on this crayz.org thing....
1/25/2007 3:20:32 PM
has anyone successfully used that site to find a wii?i was going to try to go to circuit city and use the $40 off coupon but circuit city cancelled the promotion
1/25/2007 3:30:33 PM

1/25/2007 8:33:56 PM

1/26/2007 1:00:54 AM

1/26/2007 8:38:40 AM
For those of you who haven't seen itThe news channel is pretty fucking cool. When you zoom in on the articles, it actually moves the words and makes them biggerso you still only have to scroll up and down, never left and right. And the globe with the articles on it is kinda fun too.
1/26/2007 9:20:43 AM
I got my Wii yesterday from the EB games over on new bern ave. thanks to iTrackr. Funny thing is, I didn't have that location set up as one of my 10 to be notified about, I just happened to be on the site looking when the stock changed. And then I stopped by the Target at North Hills on the way home to look for an extra controller (no luck) and while I was standing in the game aisle, I got a text msg from iTrackr telling me that the store I was in had wii's in stock. They didn't.
