i need to hire aaprior as my personal trainer.hell i just need to hire a personal trainer.i've been consistently in the gym 5 days a week, eating healthy, low calorie foods for 9 months now and none of my weight has budged. i gained like 10 pounds overnight last year and it won't go away
10/13/2008 5:38:13 PM
you should probably post what you work out with and eat, and you could start keeping a food log to track just how much you eat a day
10/13/2008 5:41:48 PM
i was going to go to the gym today but then i discovered that my cat once again chewed through my ipod headphones. and not having an ipod is my (very valid) excuse for not going. i shall go tomorrow. sigh.
10/13/2008 5:43:08 PM
trust me, i have. i even go and check about once a week to make sure i'm eating about 1500 calories a day. plus i eat the same thing pretty much during the day give or take. i change it up every once and a while but stay within the same calorie range.also i eat 5 or 6 small meals throughout the day. lots of protein, watch the carbs and sugar. i don't drink soda or sweet tea. i don't consume alcohol all the time. i get 8 hours of sleep. i do a good mix of cardio (change it up everyday) and weights (also change it up everyday). also would like to point out that i saw a nutritionist at the beginning of the year for a few months and she couldn't figure out why i couldn't lose weight. also had extensive bloodwork done this year to make sure i didn't have diabetes or hypoactive thyroid. everything checked out normali have never had problems before this year.[Edited on October 13, 2008 at 5:46 PM. well, are you actually overweight by much? you don't have to answer that how intense are your workouts? Its odd that you haven't been seeing results...

Still sounds like it's a nutritional problem. Try to up your calories, and you may, no, WILL find a new drive/intensity in your workouts. Are you consuming any carbs around workouts?[Edited on October 13, 2008 at 6:55 PM. Reason : ]

Yeah, with a low calorie diet like that, I'm sure you would run out of energy very quickly.
10/13/2008 6:56:15 PM
actually i have a very high energy level. i eat a good balance of carbs, protein, veggies, and fruit and i drink tons of water. the only thing i really have to stay away from is anything with white flour and sugar.....it gives me killer headaches within 20 minutes. i think my problem is that after 30 minutes, i'm bored with doing weights. and i'm not even classified as overweight by BMI standards. it's just that i've always been super fit and now nothing seems to work. kind of frustrating but i am proud of myself considering i've stuck with it and not given up all hope.

I'm now aiming for a conceivable goal and cutting down my workout time to two hours.

You might want to think about adding more veggies/greens. Frozen veggies are cheap and keep. Berries might be good in that oatmeal (you can get them cheap in big frozen bags)The 2nd meal, id drop the bread in favor of a veg and nutsAlso, I wonder about the bread for pre and post workout. It probably does have sugar, but you don't don't need fiber around workouts. I'd try some powdered gatorade w/ your whey. If you have vanilla whey, orange gatorade makes a NOMilicious shake that tastes like orange and cream popscicle. What's w/ the fiber one bar?
10/13/2008 9:34:44 PM
I take it you were talking to bitchplease, but that sounds like sound advice.
10/13/2008 9:36:48 PM
to porchaOn the topic of muscle milk, i'm not a fan. Too much fat for workout drinks, and I'd rather do whole foods through out the day. [Edited on October 13, 2008 at 9:39 PM. Reason : ][Edited on October 13, 2008 at 9:43 PM. Reason : ]

^i have at least 2 a day[Edited on October 13, 2008 at 9:46 PM. Reason : ~40g of protein]
10/13/2008 9:46:32 PM
lolololol.Back to the topic:Does anybody here use creatine? I have heard it just puts water in your muscles, thusly increasing size without strength.Does anybody have experience with workout recovery speedup supplements? I would imagine it would inhibit or destroy ATP or metabolic processes.
10/13/2008 9:48:19 PM
10/13/2008 9:48:54 PM
^^i take creatine also...it helps size and strength for me[Edited on October 13, 2008 at 9:50 PM. Reason : eat about 30/40g of fiber a day]
10/13/2008 9:49:24 PM
DNL, is that your only source of protein? That sounds like a lot of creatine. I took some as a freshman and sophomore, but only about 5-10 grams. It sounds like you also work out a lot, so that may be necessary.
10/13/2008 9:53:45 PM
basketball, treadmill, abs, legs

I was thinking that 2nd shake was the pre-wo. I'm talking about the 9am. A quick digesting carb right before should be fine. I'm talking about the 9am.[Edited on October 13, 2008 at 9:58 PM. Reason : ]

i JUSt started this new high complex carb/protein diet, i was running on a mostly fat/protein dietthe fiber one bars I was able to get for free via the parents when I went home over the weekend, pretty low in sugar and fat while high in whole grains and fiberthe bread was just convenient for me since I got back from the parents house last night, went to Lowes foods and the only whole grain bread left//on sale was that whole grain cinnamon raisintaking aaprior's advice, i'm trying to go high complex carbs/proteins and no added fat for the type of build I'm aiming for...what types of foods would be sufficient to replace the high carbs of the bread? each slice only has 3g sugar and 20g total carbs(100 cal/slice) I have to pack all my food in my bookbag so anything cooked or sloppy is out of the questionyea, i love frozen veggies but the only time I'm at home to cook them is dinner/late night...I park and ride so the earliest I'm home is 45 minutes AFTER my workout is finished, I was informed to consume around 70g of good carbs post workout, so that combination worked out well for this week...I'd prefer to eat those whole grain bagels from Thomas, something like 270 cal bagel, 56g carb, 1g sugar, 8g fiber, 8g protein, 1.5g fatI guess I could pack something likes carrots/celery as a portable veg but they're both extremely low in nutritional value....a romaine/garden salad everyday would be too pricey for my budget
10/13/2008 9:58:19 PM
^^^^huh? i take about 5-7g of creatine a day, about 130-150g of protein a day, like 30-40g of fiber...etc etc etc
10/13/2008 10:00:19 PM
the 9am meal is also following up 30 minutes worth of cardiosince I park n ride to school, I'm up every morning at 6:15am, catch the earliest bus possible at 7:08, at the gym by 7:30...work lightly til 8:30, shower at the gym and off to class at 9:10am. I sometimes do abs post-cardio, never lift thoughshould i swap out that banana for the pre-workout meal and eat the slow digesting carbs after?it's apple season too, I should def snag some
10/13/2008 10:03:19 PM
I wasn't suggesting fruit/vegg w/ workout shakes (or even bread), due to the fiber, which isn't optimal around workouts. My suggestion for the 900 small meal was based on a lower carb cutting diet and the assumption of no cardio. I was thinking something more like a can of tuna, nuts, etc. EDIT...just saw the cardio part.............................................................. [Edited on October 13, 2008 at 10:09 PM.
