^not arguing anything you said - but I don't think available scholarships is a problem.
11/16/2016 9:12:33 AM
Available scholarships probably won't be the problem, but technically, we're only losing 1 SR(Anya). You know DSJ has told the coaches he's going pro regardless, so we have 2 scholarships open for next season. The coaches probably know who is planning on leaving, but injury or bad season and they might be forced to stay or go international. I expect Abu and Yurtseven to go pro, but it wouldn't shock me if either stayed another year.
11/17/2016 9:12:11 AM
I'd expect Abu more than Yurtseven. You don't flirt with the draft as much as Abu did last year and not go. The only thing that would keep him another year would be an injury.
11/17/2016 9:33:59 AM
^Yeah that's why I pointed out an injury or something that could prevent him. It's hard to recruit high-major prospects that we've been going after when you can't guarantee them much PT. Yeah we'll very likely need bigs, but hard to pitch to a 4* or 5* guy that "if the 2 we expect to go pro early go, you'll see some minutes off the bench" and then when the kids asks "but what if they stay", it's really hard to say he'll get minutes. Who are you taking minutes away from for a Freshman? Yurtseven, Abu, Kapita, Hicks, or Freeman? And I think the expectation is that the Freeman injury last year only recurred because he rushed it back. I would expect taking the year off will let him fully recover and be ready for next year.

Well that sucks, but I knew we were a very long shot to add a CA kid. I'm surprised he didn't pick UCLA
12/23/2016 11:22:05 AM
Jeez......
12/23/2016 3:18:26 PM
might be another last minute scramble for Gott...but he's proven every year that he's capable of it.
12/23/2016 3:32:57 PM
So who will be gone after this year? Smith, Yurtseven, Henderson, Anya. So looks like Gott needs about a three person class for next year.
12/24/2016 8:57:39 AM
There's a chance Henderson gets a 6th year. I don't think Yurtseven is a slam dunk to be one and done, there seems to be at least a chance he returns (more of a chance than DSJ). Abu may be gone. You can probably count on a transfer because that seems to always happen.
12/24/2016 10:19:23 AM
No way Henderson gets a 6th year. If Abu leaves early he will be in Europe.
12/24/2016 11:03:19 AM
Dylan Ennis had a similar case and got a 6th year. Transferred willingly then got hurt last year.
12/24/2016 4:38:19 PM
he's applying for a 6th year. i guess we'll find out at the end of the year whether or not he gets it.abu wouldn't be drafted, but he apparently nearly went last year...which is why i'd say he does go pro this year
12/24/2016 4:54:51 PM
Copeland to Nebraska
1/9/2017 11:05:31 AM
A lot of the things that I read about Copeland makes me fine with missing on him.

Looks like Keatts has already offered the #26 player in 2018. 4* PG
3/21/2017 12:44:11 PM
2017 4* PG(on every site but Scout) Blake Harris just got released from his LOI at Washington and likely that 3* PG Lavar Batts will get his release from VCU with the coaching change. Hopefully we can recruit at least 1 of these guys to give us another PG for next year.
3/21/2017 2:42:22 PM
Blake Harris on campus for official visit
3/22/2017 12:00:01 PM
4* PG Blake Harris(WOG) Opened back up his recruitment after Romar was fired and is on campus today with Keatts. He's likely to sign with State since we will need a backup PG next year.
3/22/2017 12:01:17 PM
^ Woot if true.
3/22/2017 12:37:43 PM
keatts wasting no time. would've been the case with Wade as well - but Keatts' familiarity with the region and recruiting locally will definitely be a plus as we try to close out this '17 class and get a good start in '18. probably would've been much harder to make in-roads with guys last minute if our new coach wasn't familiar with the region.granted, that alone is not a reason to hire a coach. but will be a positive.
3/22/2017 1:25:29 PM
http://247sports.com/player/blake-harris-76198Looks to be a solid back up for next year. 10 minutes a game maybe more depending on Henderson, et all decisions.[Edited on March 22, 2017 at 1:47 PM. Reason : Would also let Thomas Allen stay off the ball as the 2]
3/22/2017 1:47:10 PM
Where are you seeing "likely to sign with NC State"? Last I saw he was waiting to see who all declared and what schools came after him. Reports Duke is likely to go all-in on landing him as well.
3/22/2017 3:17:32 PM
I think we should start listening to JT3bucky more

Going to have to get Keatts a man-ssiere or is it a bro?UVA losing two guys to transfers including Marial Shayock who was one of their better players. Shine coming off Bennett some??
3/22/2017 5:06:26 PM
Rivals was saying they'd expect him to jump to on the State offer - if we officially offered.
3/22/2017 5:12:03 PM
We have offered - he will take a couple of weeks
3/22/2017 8:54:06 PM
Yeah Harris got the offer and seemed to enjoy his unofficial visit, said he was going to keep things closer to home this time, but I fully expect Duke to put the full-court press on him before he commits to anyone. Hopefully we can still land him but at this point it seems a little early to say "likely" going to be at NC State. Also sounds like Kansas is sniffing around Thomas Allen, so hopefully Keatts is spending a lot of time keeping him in the fold.
3/23/2017 8:54:50 AM
I think Keatts and Allen are meeting today
3/23/2017 9:35:13 AM
Allen released from LOI
3/23/2017 4:14:27 PM
shucks.
3/23/2017 4:19:05 PM
I don't understand how anyone commits to Gott, but won't play for Keatts.Because I know so much about both of them and all....
3/23/2017 4:23:27 PM
Perhaps he didnt want the conditioning/hard work required under Keatts.
3/23/2017 4:24:54 PM
^
3/23/2017 4:36:42 PM
supposedly Kansas has been after him lately...couldn't blame a kid for preferring Kansas over State.
3/23/2017 4:37:25 PM
We didn't want him anyways! Kidding.Maybe he just wants to do some more visits before he comes back to us? Or maybe he gone.
3/23/2017 4:46:13 PM
Who knows. Perhaps Keatts is showing more love to Harris, and that doesn't sit well with Allen. Hopefully we get him back.
3/23/2017 4:52:47 PM
Fuck it.
3/23/2017 9:55:46 PM
Seems kind of unlikely that he'd come back if he meets the new coach and then asks to be released, but maybe his options aren't as good this time of year?
3/23/2017 10:53:06 PM
Allen wont be in a Wolfpack uniform, likely a Jayhawk now. That's ok though, Keatts seems like he prefers Harris...so thats 3-4 spots open on the roster for the new class.
3/24/2017 12:49:55 AM
insider back?!?
3/24/2017 7:41:58 AM
I don't think Allen has the prototypical build for Keatts' system. I think he likes the taller, longer guards. I know Harris isn't that tall either but he seems a little better suited to play the style of play that Keatts prefers. I think the break-up was mutual.
3/24/2017 8:03:29 AM
Allen's shooting ability isn't something you let go, esp given how many 3's UNCW was shooting with Keatts system. Talking about best 3pt shooting recruit by reputation since, what, Wood?
3/24/2017 8:54:04 AM
i don't know for sure...but i would have to guess that Keatts would have tried to keep him, while also realizing that it's probably hard to build a relationship with a player you didn't really recruit yourself. the most logical reason why Allen asked for his release was because he probably liked Gott and had a good relationship with Gott and has basically no relationship with Keatts and it would make sense to open his recruitment back up to explore his options. and apparently Kansas may be an option for him.it may be mutual in the sense that we aren't gonna hold him hostage...but he's talented. don't think it was a case of Keatts thinking we could do better or that we don't need him[Edited on March 24, 2017 at 9:10 AM. 3/24/2017 9:09:34 AM
Shady Bill Self steals another recruit of ours. What is new.
3/24/2017 9:29:57 AM
Maybe Gott is going to take him with him to Cal Berkeley
3/24/2017 9:35:07 AM
Batts may be leaning NCSU now that Wade is out at VCU...Although his father has said he was unsure what he will do.
3/24/2017 2:19:44 PM
Keatts need to get that red light going.
