^agree with everything you said about Hendo, except apparently an Oregon player JUST got a 6th year after having a very similar scenario.
7/5/2016 11:09:38 AM
and, correct me if i'm wrong, but markell also is a score-first type guard that i think could move to the #2 if needed.
7/5/2016 11:33:05 AM
Johnson was a 4*, right? I'd think we'd have to get a very highly rate freshman pg for johnson to be a "back-up" as a sophomore.
7/5/2016 12:51:49 PM
Well two things, 1) he is young and a bit raw, would be a HS Sr this year so his rating was based on potential, will have to see how he develops. 2) in terms of tiers players, he is probably 3rd tier, and we are certainly going after some first tier guys. The point is, his presence shouldn't affect their recruitment much.
7/5/2016 12:58:27 PM
I think Markell is like Rowan where he had another year in HS but was still a bit older, so I think he'll be able to contribute next year backing up DSJ. He's a combo guard, and I think Gott said as much about him when doing an interview. Think we still pursue a true PG in this class and probably pitch Markell to play more of the Trevor Lacey role.
7/5/2016 5:47:13 PM
yea i wasnt really trying to make a prediction of his role on the team this year, i was trying to predict how his presence would affect 2017 recruiting.

Glad to see Gottfried's Natty may pay off for us. Although, it seems like it may be hard to get him to travel far away looking at his interest list.
7/9/2016 2:35:40 PM
Yeah if he was an East Coast kid I think we'd be a lock to land him, but it's going to be really tough to get him to come this far for school. Would really help if we had a strong season. But we're recruiting so many 2017 kids, wouldn't surprise me if we landed some guys before O'Bannon is ready to commit, so that might effect things.
7/10/2016 9:27:29 AM
yeah i haven't been able to get into the '17 recruiting much...especially since our '16 class was still coming together pretty late. but it seems like we have a TON of offers out right for '17 guys.
7/10/2016 9:53:54 AM
Did anyone catch the numbers former NC State almost near certain commit Thon Maker put up in his first summer league game? 17 and 17
7/13/2016 3:39:21 AM
no, because:a) We weren't up until 4am betting on NBA summer league gamesb) No one cares about Thon Maker BECAUSE HE WAS NEVER A NEAR CERTAIN COMMIT
7/13/2016 7:21:04 AM
Plus he is too old. We want a youth movement like OBannon.
7/13/2016 7:43:38 AM
Didn't Thon also put up a stat-line like 10 pts and 10 fouls in his 2nd game? I mean he should do well, he's 24 pretending to be 19 right?
7/13/2016 11:19:02 AM
nate waston took his OV to state this week. he's a center, class of 2017. 4 star by ESPN, Rivals, and 247. offers from MD, Miami, Providence, FSU, Oregon, Pitt and several others. i believe State was his first Official Visit....which i guess could be a good sign, that we got him on campus first.
8/24/2016 12:47:52 PM
Couple of players we were doing really well with just got bumped up to 5* status. Not saying we get them, just showing Gott is doing a good job finding these guys before they blow up.
8/24/2016 1:11:58 PM
we seem to be in really good shape with nick weatherspoon, 5* guard from Mississippi. his brother plays for Miss St. sounds like the main competition for us will be Miss St and Kansas.
8/30/2016 2:40:24 PM
Not another battle with Kansas, we know how those turn out.
8/30/2016 9:44:01 PM
^ lol
8/30/2016 10:09:25 PM
Sounds like it's:MSU > NCSU > Kansas > Everyone else. MSU is the favorite to land him, but obviously if Kansas goes "all-in" on him they could probably become a favorite quickly.
8/31/2016 9:24:20 AM
sounds like we are hosting 5* Colin Sexton this weekend. #2 PG in the nation, from GA. offers from Bama, Kansas, AZ, UF, and many others.
9/2/2016 11:16:47 AM
sas
9/2/2016 12:06:17 PM
^ haha
9/2/2016 12:26:20 PM
Nick Weatherspoon picked Miss St. Apparently his bro already plays there. Solid weekend for State athletics
9/11/2016 9:05:37 PM
and Nate Watson picked Providence

thomas allen moved his visit up to this weekend. sounds like we may be the leader for him...he'd be a good start to the class if we can land him.
9/28/2016 6:19:30 PM
https://twitter.com/20tugs/status/781286068930940928Most likely will commit to Sparty, but always good to be one of the finalists
9/29/2016 3:19:13 PM
I've heard Zona #Sources
9/29/2016 3:44:25 PM
Thomas Allen committed to us
10/2/2016 7:58:41 PM
Woot!
10/2/2016 7:59:33 PM
4* SG that should partner up really well with Markell next year. Reportedly an elite scorer but limited on D, so he should fit right in with Gott's system.
10/2/2016 8:04:26 PM
I LOVE this guy....seems like a good kid that really wanted to play for us.Great job Gott
10/2/2016 8:06:44 PM
Great! Seen a few people saying they expect his stock to rise this year now that's he's transferred to a bigger basketball program with more of a stage.
10/2/2016 9:06:32 PM
GG Gott
10/3/2016 8:28:00 AM
I'm not sure how much his stock can jump, he's already a 4*, I guess he could jump from outside the top 100 to inside the top 100, but no chance he becomes a 5* because of his size and this class.
10/3/2016 8:32:43 AM
So how do we stop Carson McCorckle from being the next in a long line of Grayson Allen types at Duke?http://packinsider.com/2016/10/03/nc-state-showing-interest-2020-sg-carson-mccorckle-broughton/
10/3/2016 9:56:03 AM
^^i think he's still a 3* by a couple of services (not that it's a big deal either way) so that's what i meant...he's kinda flown under the radar a bit. but you are right.
10/3/2016 10:04:25 AM
^^Nah, we have Maverick to fill that role[Edited on October 3, 2016 at 10:11 AM. Reason : ]

There is no way Carson McCorckle is a real person
10/3/2016 12:15:16 PM
Glad to hear that Gott has recruiting still rolling for future years. The red light is on!
10/3/2016 9:32:12 PM
Dont know much about him but going from a 5 star first round pg to a 4 star undersized, seems like big shoes to fill.
10/4/2016 12:02:55 AM
10/4/2016 12:39:44 AM
^^ agreed disappointed we didn't land a 6-star 7 footer as our future pg. Signs Gott doesn't really have what it takes?
10/4/2016 6:31:13 AM
i think johnson can be expected to take over at PG after DSJ leaves...not freshman Thomas Allen.also...are we really at the point where we complain about landing a 4*?[Edited on October 4, 2016 at 7:17 AM. Reason : d]
10/4/2016 7:17:04 AM
The theory is that Johnson will play behind DSJ and learn and come in next year prepared and playing as well as a 5* FR would. Hearing that Johnson is already playing great defense, which is a positive sign. Also, we're still recruiting 5* guards, but we just locked up one of the best shooters in the class and a guy that is clearly playing with a chip on his shoulder(transferring to get more exposure because he thinks he should be a 5*) and is local, it's a good pick-up.
10/4/2016 8:29:12 AM
apparently getting an unofficial visit from this guy this weekend (coaches did an in-home visit a few weeks ago)http://packinsider.com/2016/10/05/4-star-70-center-visiting-nc-state-weekend/
10/5/2016 3:12:20 PM
Thomas Allen summer mixtape https://youtu.be/sPScHEws3ucHopefully that works. I like this kid, not too flashy but super smooth. Reminds me of a smaller TJ Warren with a knack of making shots from anywhere.
10/5/2016 8:54:39 PM
he looks like the type of player that transfers here after 2 years at a shit SEC school
