i ran 10.5 miles yesterday. gonna try to do a 5 or 6er mid week run. and another 10 this weekend.

i haven't weighed myself in awhile

and besides the running i've been totally slacking off this weekend...well mostly just yesterday because it was my birthday so i definitely didn't count ANY calories AT ALL and went to a baseball game, whoops. i want to count but i'm scared.

but my run (according to myplate) burned around 2000 calories SO maybe the cheat day didn't end up as bad as i thought. i ate: a hamburger, some fries, some pineapple, a banana, sweet tea, beer (multiple), pretzel, hotdog, cake, and peanuts (throughout the day).

my sister has been lifting with me for the past month, she's lost 9lbs in that time and feels a lot better about her body. She's definitely lifting like a man but I tell her all we're doing is expending calories, what exercise we do is irrelevant, its all about sticking to that diet to see results.

What would happen if a guy exercised like a woman? What does that mean anyways? When does the workout go from man to woman? I guess man is to power lifting as woman is to body building?

I'm sorry I'm the one who brought the phrase "lifting like a man" to this thread. Please forgive me. It's lame.

The book that I'm reading talks of how women build endurance of the muscle through baby weights and obsession of correct form and men build strength through heavier and heavier weights. Taking the mind set of correct form and pushing yourself will give a woman the body she desires. There are other things in the book.

when you put weights on the iron for ironing shirts, using heavier knives when making sandwiches, lifting the watermelons at the grocery store above your head to inspect for quality, bricks in the purse....

I'm not really big into working out but I quit drinking a month ago and wanted to find something new to entertain myself with so I got the Insanity program and am about to start it today. This Fit Test should be interesting.

don't be giving out advice like this. plenty of TWWers would benefit from some practice on the leg closing machine

Starting today, I'm going to either do two-a-days at the gym or go to the gym once & run twice a day. I gained a few pounds while in Puerto Rico and now I'm a few steps back, so I'll post my check-in picture on Friday.

wow. i let looooose this weekend!
but honestly this weekend was one of the reasons i buckled down in the first place.

i'm guestimating i took in about 2000 on friday, 3kish on sat, 2500 on sunday, and about 2200 today
not any exercise. at all.
(mind you dont think i was lying around all day! we were walking around most of the day and were climbing shit and even had to get chest deep in a freezing ass pond!)

but it was worth it.

i had a BLAST!!!!
there is no telling how much wine we drank and every night they cooked us an amazing dinner.
and i played with their awesome kids and made new friends

as a matter of fact i have secured another gig next year (assuming my calendar will allow it) and this money was needed really badly

the photographers were great. and i'll see if i can find the istock (and getty) photos so you can see

but tomorrow...back a the healthiness.....my next event-i'm (supposed to at least) to be walking for metallic spiral in Sparkon in september
time to make sure i am awesome by then

(here are the guys ports http://www.robertoadrian.com and http://vegablue.com/)

I had an entire bottle of sake two nights ago. I haven't worked out in 4. I start swimming tomorrow morning for about an hour. I don't feel so guilty.

I didn't really cheat much for the 4th, just a couple of drinks. I actually am going to the beach July 31 -August 6 so I am trying to ramp up my stomach area by doing direct ab work. It seems to be working so far. I darkened this picture to so y'all can see what Ive done a little better. (the lighting in my bathroom is horrible)

As you can see my love handles are getting smaller but it seems like my skin at the bottom is getting looser not tighter. Its just aggravating because if I pull my skin up I see this

I know there is still fat in there so I am going to start walking twice a day to see if I can get it to shrink some more.

Maybe if you fill out that area with more muscle it will help the skin tension. You look pretty thin, so building core/lower torso muscles may help give you more mass for the skin to stretch over. I'm thinking stuff like weighted ab work and back/lower back exercises [rows, deadlifts] to increase the overall muscle mass down there.

And a tan

But that's just my take on it.

I love this. The gym people said it was the best elliptical around. I generally do 40 mins on it. but since my move the other gym doesn't have it.

my sister mapped our run on saturday morning, after we did it, and it was 4.5 miles. i ran the entire thing and didn't stop once to walk.

coming from a girl who couldn't run a full mile 5 weeks ago - amazing

^ that's awesome. have you run in the past? that seems like very dramatic progress

be careful not to overdo it... Sometimes the ligaments and tendons take a much longer time to adapt to exercise than one's heart, lungs, and muscle.

i did absolutely nothing this weekend except drink, eat, and drink some more...unless you count the walk down the beach to the beach bar.

getting back into it today after work with cardio, legs, and abs...oh my!

^^ never ever been a runner. i HATE running with a passion.

i've just been doing it a few days a week with my sisters. started out with a 2.5 mile trail where i walked most of it. within two weeks i was running that okay. then they bumped me up to 3.2 miles, struggled a bit, but then was okay. then last saturday did the 4.5 miles.

then ran a 5k race on sunday morning probably not the best idea in the world, but i made it through.

granted cycling is completely different, but i think that my heart and lungs and what not are used to that kind of cardio since i've been doing 30 to 50 mile rides every weekend for the past 6 weeks or so.

I'm the same. Played tons of sports growing up and was in the gym a lot but just hate running. I'll gladly go play pickup soccer for several hours and probably run the equivalent of several miles rather than go straight run 2 miles. I'll do 45 minutes of sprints, indian runs, etc. all mixed in if I am on a team that is practicing but just going out to run by myself for a couple miles in a neighborhood is a complete chore.

I still run a couple miles at a time a few times a week in our neighborhood but it takes a lot of willpower

I've been baaaad. Haven't been to the gym since Monday the 28th. Was on vacation up in NY over the long weekend and just relaxed on the boat and at the pool. Add to the mix day drinking and partying every night till 4 or later and my body is spent I'm not gonna even try to figure out what my caloric intake was over the trip. No gym today as my body's exhausted but I'll get back on the horse tomorrow!

I got back from NY at midnight last night (drove) and didn't sleep well. No point in going to the gym with a physically exhausted body - just minimal gains made that way.

I did some intense swimming today. Definitely a helluva work out. I feel great though! My body is a bit tired, and despite the 2 hours of sleep last night, I feel pretty alert. I can't wait to go back tomorrow.

Parts of my back and right shoulder are sore, and even my ribs on my right side. Wtf? Went to the gym today to start on PackMan's 4 day routine he suggested to me. Stomach wasn't feeling that well and I just felt weak and unmotivated overall, but I still did some decent work. Hopefully my body will adjust for tomorrow.

Its all about the will power to get in the gym when you don't want to if you really want to attain your goals...except in cases like ^^^. Unless it becomes a common day occurance, and then you're just slacking

First actual gym workout in >2 weeks... I topped out at 160 for benching (body weight), which is absolutely horrible. I was pissed to see the difference that 2 weeks of not working out can do.

i felt really shitty and fatigued last week - constant stomachache and all that stuff. i think i figured out that i a) wasn't eating enough and b) wasn't eating frequently enough for how active i'm being

i've started hitting my calorie goal (1300) pretty consistently and eating more frequently. definitely feel 100 times better.

unfortunately now i'm hungry all the time it seems. doesn't take much to fill me up - but feeling like i'm constantly in need of food is annoying

I have reverse body dysmorphia (former fat boy) I still see myself as fat. I'm like the freshman girl who gains 40 lbs but still sees her self as skinny so she wears clothes that are to tight.

I am going to start bulking in August so that might tighten up my skin, hopefully.

Yeah, I've seen a few of your body change posts. Your body looks thin on your frame, as in you have some room comfortably to "fill out", as my family says about me . I do realize the body image issue and that's just something you gotta combat in your head, with help from random reassurances/compliments from friends, family, and internet.

I did a quick google search and found stuff like this: http://forums.johnstonefitness.com/archive/index.php/t-13393.html

which I assume you probably did as well. Do you take the recommendations like drinking lots of water and getting vitamins?

Today I swam a 1/4 mile in 13 minutes and 39 seconds. My right leg got all stiff (entire leg from toes to upper thigh cramped up) and my left foot was "immobilized" right as I finished... I've got a ways to go if I'm going to knock that time down 3.5 minutes :/

What's a good time for 1/4 mile? I'm starting swimming soon. Roommate did the 500yd in 4.44 minutes which is a little more than a 1/4 mile i guess. I'm dreading it. I've got the biking/running down but i need to work on my breathing for swimming.

so I did my aquatic class today and I feel so beat. Since starting school yesterday (11am-9pm TTh ), I have felt absolutely worn out. I will persevere, I promise. This is the point in my workout sessions that I usually start making excuses but THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN THIS TIME! RAWR!!!

So on a vain note, I can't stop flexing and looking at my arms. I am one step away from kissing them every time I look at them. I love how I am seeing triceps, biceps, deltoids(not as much but better) and my weenus is becoming wonderfully taut. I might be more insecure of fat arms than fat thighs or gut so this is too joyous.
