Think USA 2-0. The counter D was bad then.

Spain looks like 95% of the teams who are playing in this World Cup - like they dont want to be there or dont want to put any kind of effort into their games. I think the only exceptions to that are Chile and South Africa

boring World Cup so far

although today has been a little bit better than the previous few days

i think spain is just pushing everyone up looking for that equalizer, leaving them susceptible in the back. i've seen pique and ramos in the attacking front pretty much since they went down 1-0

danm, I picked Spain to win it all in my World Cup bracket. they still can, but they sure looked like garbage against the 24th ranked team today

wow. anyone know the shots taken stats? i really only remember the swiss getting two shots on goal

The negative tactics, teams attempting to just kill the game from the beginning, etc. have got to stop. Every team has now played, and I can't remember more than 2 or 3 games in which one team didn't just put 11 men behind the ball.

I think the Chile-Honduras game was the best of the cup

this was 2nd place behind that game, imo. Hopefully the South Africa game will also live up to expectations. Today has been the best day so far

Idk i hate seeing games where one team dominates possession has tons of great shots and keeps hitting the post. Its like the announcers said most teams sit back and play D because they are afraid of losing possession on offense and getting raped by torres (even though he wasn't in until the end of the game...)

Like i would be totally okay with this game if switzerland had missed the goal but made the second shot that went off the post

Swiss have to feel pretty good. They have a soft game left with Honduras and already have three.

The Chile-Spain game looks to be a play-in game...

^huh? i think chile should be able to handle switzerland, which would put them in. maybe i'm just mis-understanding you. are you thinking that spain will have to beat chile to get in regardless of whether or not chile advances?

^I have to disagree about Chile handling Switzerland, but then I had the swiss advancing instead of Chile in our espn pool. But now that Switzerland will be even more satisfied with a draw, it's going to be really tough for Chile to get 3 points. Then they get Spain.

yeah. maybe i'm not giving the swiss defense enough credit. but i saw a lot of creativity from the chilean's on offense today (although they did play the weakest team of the group). so i still like their chances. we'll see, it should be an exciting group to watch from here on out.

should be some really close groups

Hey another idiot commentator weighs in with stupid opinions on why they hate soccer:

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=5288738

most notably:

Quote :
"6. The yellow cards. I love the way the refs come running up to the player as though he has just taken out a chainsaw and sawed somebody's hand off. The ref looks very stern and upset. And then all the ref does is snap his little yellow piece of paper out of his shirt pocket and stick it in the offender's face, as though the little yellow card has some kind of superpower. As if to say, "Ha! you are powerless against my little yellow piece of paper, which shows your less-than-average marks from third grade!" I'd love to see that in the middle of an NBA fight. Can you imagine seeing some ref come running up to Rasheed Wallace after laying out Carmelo Anthony with a roundhouse right and sticking that yellow card right in his face? He'd soon be digesting it through his ear hole."
