we really have a great chance at landing 5 of the top 10 in the state this year esp. with the success of this years spring game.

it was a real pleasure seeing our signed recruits getting in the ear of our big time targets for the next class. having some of the big time alumni show up like Bill Cohwer and Mario Williams was awesome too. Wish Phil could have been here but i think he is rehabbing in Alabama. Torry wasnt here either but Terrance showed up.

SC DT AJ Cann rated his weekend visit at a 10

Quote :
"How was the trip to Georgia Tech?

"It went very good. I had a very nice time there. I really enjoyed the campus and talked with my recruiting coach a lot. I'd rate the trip an 8." "

Quote :
"How did the North Carolina State trip go for you?

"I really enjoyed my time there. The campus was set up real nice and I got a chance to see the spring game for the Wolfpack. I definitely enjoyed the trip. I got a chance to talk to the coaches and see the campus. I enjoyed the whole thing. I'd rate the trip a 10." "

this is the kind of kid that gets picked up by the SEC big dogs so him liking us is huge. he does have some visits lined up to UT and VATech. Fre-Shad(sic) Hunter basically said he was coming to state too during the meet and great on the field

list of the recruits who were there if possible.

the pic on N&O of a wideshot of the crowd looked damn impressive, ergo, does anyone know of comparisons to other big time programs spring game attendance numbers? I thought UT and Alabama were historically big turnouts but not sure.

^^preciate the info. Looks like Hunter, Hill, and Moore were the standouts in that crowd (and of course Crisp)... there could be more, those were just the ones I recognized immediately. I also saw that 4-star QB Pete Thomas was in for a visit recently. Hopefully that went well.

I wish Creecy could have made the trip.

^^ iirc, that's what their defensive backfield nicknamed themselves back when dre bly was there. they had some nasty defenses back then, but primarily because of their D-line (vonnie holiday, k mays, peppers, greg ellis, etc) - NOT their db's.

and yeah, rude boys is pretty freaking corny - but we had the "ruff riders" back in the late 90's, early 00's, which isn't much better...

Rude boys sounds like those little brats at church that fart during the sermon.

It's a name for a defense ... not the name of an indie rock band. Other than the Steel Curtain, they're generally pretty lame (Purple People Eaters, Blitzburgh, New York Sack Exchange).

That said, Ruff Riders >>>>>>> Rude Boys IMO

"Tamakloe: 'It Was Crazy'

“It was crazy because I went down to UNC and there weren’t that many people there but I think there was close to 20,000 at State. I was looking around and saw the RV’s and then with all the people around the building and all the red, I didn’t realize how serious about football they were. They like their football a lot.”

So what did Tamakloe think of NC State after finishing his visit?

“I liked it a lot. I haven’t really seen a facility like that yet. I haven’t been to too many colleges yet but I haven’t seen a facility like that. And then with the coaches, they were real genuine, down to earth people.”

“I don’t really have any favorites right now. But I’m looking forward to making a decision soon, definitely before the start of the season.”
"

Quote :
"
Hill Note

"Man, I had a lot of fun up at State," said Hill. "I enjoyed all of it. I had a lot of fun going up there and watching the game. It looks to me like State's going to be good this year.

"Obviously Willie [Young] stood out and I like their quarterback, [Russell] Wilson. I'm going to see if I can go up there and watch some games this year."

Talking about Willie Young who he bonded with:
I'm a lot like him because he can do a lot of things at defensive end. He can drop back into coverage and make plays coming off the edge. He was telling me how it is at State... he said they take care of the players there and love you."

They had a lot of recruits there," said Hill. "I talked to Robert Crisp, the big tackle that has already committed. He was telling me it's the place to be. He was saying I need to go there and play with him and make things happen.

"It would be great to go to a college with a lot of players you already know, but I'm not making my decision off that. I'm looking at the academics and the coaches."
"

^from what i have read and heard from people i know is that Hill REALLY enjoyed the visit and we are probably leading for him at this point

This would be huge because he wants to commit early and use that as an opportunity to try and get other guys to come with him. I think most people underestimate the impact a player can have that is committed in getting other guys to commit.

Not only is this guy really talented, but he sounds like a guy that would try and recruit other guys with him which is awesome.

We will offer whoever is the best in camp. A lot of people thought that Alex Wulfeck would end up getting our punter offer, but Chris Ward performed the best in all the drills and got the offer instead. If Pete Thomas is the best then we'll offer him. I remember when the 2007 camp was going on and a lot of people thought that Jacob Charest was going to get the QB offer b/c at the time he was rated a 4* prospect, had a couple of other BCS offers, and he was from NC. Not as many people knew about Glennon, even though he was about to be upgraded in his ranking. Glennon outperformed Charest and got the offer. I heard that it wasn't even close, which isn't a knock on Charest, but more of an indication of how good Glennon was. Charest was a legit BCS QB prospect with offers from Illinois, Cal, Iowa, Louisville, and Oregon (he committed to Illinois).

Marty Everett will most likely join back up with us. The coaches haven't officially offered him, but he's basically got an offer waiting for him if he wants to come. He redshirted last year b/c he had a knee injury, and he plans to graduate in December, which would be great b/c he'd be able to participate in Spring practices. The redshirt year means he has 3 years to play once he gets to State rather than 2 like most JUCO players. If you remember he was a 3* prospect and the #28 DT nationally coming out of high school according to PP. He landed offers from UF, UT, Bama, VT, CU, USF, and USF. FSU and LSU also were recruiting him. Most of the schools though backed off once they found out that he wouldn't qualify.

So I'd go ahead and pencil him into our recruiting class.
