Debbie better be making it rain on Glenwood tonight with whatever anyone wants at Turkish Delights. Welcome to the team young man!!!

Hopefully landing one-and-done talents like DSJr and Omer help with 2017 and beyond....because there are a ton of scholarships available beyond next season. Not sure if any 2017s are close to committing at this time. Would be nice to lock up 1/2 this Summer for that class.

If he sucks for us though, he's not just gonna go in the lottery immediately. He's kinda like Alex Len a little bit. But I wasn't aware of some of those things you mentioned.
5/16/2016 11:52:52 PM
Doesnt seem like he played much for fenerbache thoAppeared in 8 games, played 37 minutes, and scored 13 points.eh[Edited on May 17, 2016 at 12:22 AM. Reason : f]

Provided Abu comes back, this gives us the depth to allow Freeman to red shirt if he needs a season off for his leg issues. Also gives us depth and talent to go along with some of the experience we'll have with Abu (hopefully), Anya, & Henderson as upper classmen. Hopefully this starts to help on the recruiting trail for the '17-'18 season too as I think the only real locks to be on that team at this point are Maverick, Kirk, Hicks & Dorn. Tons of playing time to offer.
5/17/2016 10:40:55 AM
we still in it with any notable recruits for 16?
5/17/2016 11:26:21 AM
not reallyhttp://ncstate.247sports.com/Season/2016-Basketball/Targets
5/17/2016 12:03:26 PM
Think last '16 body we're looking at is Gibson Johnson, but he's a JUCO.
5/17/2016 12:42:01 PM
I hate the one and done rule...you should either just jump straight to the NBA or stay in college a min. of 3 years.
5/17/2016 1:15:26 PM
Or you should be able to do whatever the fuck you want because they don't owe you shit

7^ also supposedly still in it with Canadian combo guard Tyrells Gumbs-Frater
5/17/2016 5:53:59 PM
Id be ok with anya leaving early. Replacing him with any above average recruit has to be considered a win
5/17/2016 7:45:15 PM
he'll be a good reserve behind yurtseven at the 5. right now all i care about is having depth consisting of scholarship players.
5/17/2016 7:54:16 PM
Depends on if we get 2014 or 2015 anya. 2015 anya was below replacement level
5/17/2016 8:07:18 PM
That doesn't matter nearly as much if he can't be replaced. Sometimes you just need a body to go out and suck up minutes.
5/17/2016 8:19:44 PM
Anya is better in a 6th man role. Limited minutes, lower expectations on offense, can focus on just being a rim protector and putting away easy dunks.
5/17/2016 8:24:21 PM
Yep, and not having to worry about foul trouble
5/17/2016 9:23:24 PM
anya will soak up fouls, play 10 minutes. maybe get 2 blocks or so. that's his role
5/17/2016 9:43:23 PM
Anya had so much potential but wasted away with a fork and spoon. After his freshman year I thought he had the potential to be a dominate power player like Shaq. He's explosive for his size and once he gets airborne you might as well just get out of his way. However, it seems like he regressed. He spent his last three years losing weight like a wrestler. He may have a decent senior year but I wish that he worked on more than his blocks and dunks. However, I'm happy that he's a wolfpacker, I still cant believe that clutch skyhook doe.
5/17/2016 9:55:06 PM
Was curious when we last had two five star recruits so I looked on that 24/7 link above and saw that in 2012 Warren and Purvis were five stars. Also, in 2010 Leslie was a five star but they don't even show Harrow, ha ha, no love for bubble guts.

I assume by "pretty much" you mean u disagree with:1) The fork and spoon stupidity 2) The usage of dominate when he obviously meant dominant3) The holy-fuck-how-dumb-are-you wanna-be comparison to Shaq4) Bagging on Anya for losing weight, which was obviously a necessity 5) The usage of "doe" which was a sad attempt to look cool when the opposite is obvious[Edited on May 18, 2016 at 12:39 AM. Reason : I'll agree with happy he's a wolfpacker tho]

Anya was 6th man of the year as a sophomore. If we can put him in that 20 mpg role where he comes in and defends, blocks shots, and gives us a boost inside..then that will be perfect.
5/18/2016 7:44:10 AM
man you all are hating on Anya but he is one of the few players that has stuck with the program all 4 years even if he may not be the best of the best. He does have the block record and will most likely have a good career over seas somewhere. I like seeing the chest pump and flex after making a layup when fouled by the PG haha!
5/18/2016 8:10:08 AM
^^ fewer minutes mitigates his consistent foul trouble too, and let's him contest more shots at the rim[Edited on May 18, 2016 at 8:11 AM. Reason : ^]
5/18/2016 8:10:52 AM
Y'all a bunch of bitches. Stop bagging on a kid who has decided to spend 4 years with us. GTFOI bet you think it would be okay for Abu to leave now too.[Edited on May 18, 2016 at 8:16 AM. Reason : bitches]
5/18/2016 8:15:17 AM
Seriously, wtf is wrong with some of you (particularly one of you), talking about wanting a 3* recruit over a 4th year anya. No, he hasn't lived up to his potential and is guaranteed to make a few silly mistakes/fouls every game, but he could be a lot worse. I know it takes him out of position sometimes, but the dude holds the block record at NC State and still has a year to go. Some of you MFers are miserable people. I'll never understand grown adults disparaging kids that play for their college team.

5/18/2016 10:18:03 AM
And immediately after landing our second top10 recruit. It's sad.
5/18/2016 10:21:22 AM
^^^He does hold the block record at NCSU, but how often does he block a shot right back into the hands of the offense or out of bounds (possession, still the other team)?[Edited on May 18, 2016 at 10:21 AM. Reason : ]
5/18/2016 10:21:29 AM
Hey I'm sure Gott is working on his block trajectory in the off season
5/18/2016 10:29:46 AM
My point is that blocks don't do any good if they don't lead to turnovers. I'd rather him be 50th in blocks in team history and #1 in rebounds.
5/18/2016 12:18:45 PM
5/18/2016 12:39:36 PM
So are you saying that Anya's blocks are more prone to not to lead to turnovers than other blocks by other players? Interesting.
5/18/2016 12:45:55 PM
Blocks are good.
5/18/2016 12:46:55 PM
we're off topic. anya 2015 vs. 2014.2015 anya. all attempted blocks ratio, my spitball numbers. for every 10 attempts1 would get blocked2 would miss the block, other team scores or we get rebound7 would miss the block, other team misses, anya's guy gets rebound for easy basketthats the discouraging part
5/18/2016 12:53:57 PM
5/18/2016 1:01:39 PM
^^well all of these complaints are just your "feeling" of what happened last year without actual stats to back it up. just like AstralEngine saying he feels like most of anya's blocks go right back to the other team. no clue if this is a stat that's kept (doubt it is), but maybe we should try to focus on tangible, real stats rather than "it seems like this happens a lot". y'all might be right...but i'd like to see something to actually back it up.the reality is, anya is bad offensively. he's not in great shape. he does block shots pretty well. and his role on next year's team will probably be about what it was in 2015-16 or perhaps slightly less of a role. i think he'll probably need to play 20 mpg to give Yurtseven a break and provide a defensive presence. [Edited on May 18, 2016 at 1:11 PM. Reason : f]
5/18/2016 1:08:16 PM
^^^loli have a feeling a lot of you "feels" are biased because it's the team that you pull for and watch the most. If you pulled for another team, you'd probably make the same complaint about their leading blocker. Or maybe I'm wrong and for some reason Anya seems to block it back to the other team more often than other guys. I doubt it, but I don't know.[Edited on May 18, 2016 at 1:10 PM. Reason : ]
5/18/2016 1:08:22 PM
i hear ya.
5/18/2016 1:09:13 PM
A block is essentially useless if it just swats the ball back to the same team.Sure they don't make THAT shot (if they would have made it in the first place), but they get another free attempt so in the grand scheme of things it doesn't change anything. His presence in the paint only means that teams need to make more of an effort to grab offensive rebounds than they might otherwise need to. If they make that adjustment, then a majority of the time it leads to rebounds right under the basket behind an Anya who is wildly out of position from the previous block and to easy layups for points.
5/18/2016 1:36:05 PM
5/18/2016 1:53:34 PM
^^yeah i get what you're saying. i guess what i'm saying is, let's maybe get some quantifiable stats to back that up. otherwise it's just "it sure does seem like he blocks it and the other team gets the ball". which is kinda pointless if it can't be proven.
