No one can argue we're not better than last year - went 15-16 (5-11) with the same players plus Tracy Smith. Despite the 4 game losing streak this team is vastly better. We were on the NCAA bubble in Feb for fucks sake.

Our acc record is ugly this year.

We are 6-1 against teams that absolutely blow.

1-1 vs teams that are ok.

And 0-5 vs teams that are good .

Non conference we were 2-4 vs teams that didn't completely blow and I'm including our miracle on wood against st bonaventure.


That means if you were forced to watch us play all 13 games this year vs teams ranked in the top 100 nationally you witnessed 3 victories and 10 losses, most of which included a massive blowout, huge blown lead, or a derpfest in the last five minutes.


The truly upsetting part about the season though is how promising it looked early on. It fooled the entire fan base into thinking we had something this year. Unfortunately, we never improved over the course of the entire season. The same deficiencies that killed us in the first five games have killed us in the last five. I'm not sure how anyone could look at this season as a success when we have literally no good wins, no tourney appearance, and continued to lose games in spectacular fashion.

Revisionist posters here. Everyone here was predicting 4th / 5th place finish . I was considered a heathen for saying we were less than 50-50 to make the tournament.

This is why this board is stupid, when you say things in advance you get ripped and when they turn out correct you get ripped.

I tried to maintain perspective for you guys that this team wasn't playing well all season but no one wanted to hear it. They just kept saying 4-1 and 7-3 and look we were in the tournament according to Joe lunardi!!!

Indiana at home is obviously our best shot. Stanford isn't as good as Indiana, but that's a tough cross country road trip. We get the Cuse at home but they are taking names so far this year. That would be the best of the three to steal a win because they look like National Title contenders early on."

I wish I could find the one where I said we were longshots to make the tournament now and got flamed by everyone because Joe Lunardi said we were in. I'd say I've been pretty consistent all season that we had a chance but we were on the outside looking in the entire way. We just never pulled it together and won any games.

That being said, there is a second season in basketball. If we make an ACC-t run we can still salvage the season. If we make the semifinals and lose a nailbiter, or just make the Finals then that makes for an ACC-T that I'll consider enjoyable to watch and it will mitigate this season's disappointment. Also, if we make the Final 4 of the NIT that is SOMETHING. It's not much, but at least it's a move in the right direction.

If we can't do either of those? This is a pretty pathetic showing.

We should have been good last season but the Tracy Smith injury killed us (when he came back he wasn't very effective) and our 5* freshmen played like chumps last year. It was a disastrous season, no doubt. We also had a much tougher ACC schedule.

Zobo and Ceejello are obviously not ready for the NBA but our program has lost 1 player early to transfer, draft, europe, etc nearly every season for the past 16 seasons so it's certainly not far fetched to think someone won't be back.

State will be back, Gottfried is going to fix this shit. But at some point, you have to realize that a lot of our players are damaged goods whose play here is already set in stone. There are some exceptions, CJW certainly being one of them, and yes the team as a whole has improved, but we're bearing some deep internal scars.
