51 percent chance we get at least one of wall or cousins now15 percent chance we get em bof
1/13/2009 2:48:55 PM
oh no...did you just post something from the monkey board.... i thought you guys left that up for me to do With the conversation im having on Gchat right now..im being told that it is indeed a done deal.Favors is committing GT but he cant sign his LOI until April so things still may change but doubtful
1/13/2009 2:49:55 PM
i guess our only hope now is if Hewitt gets fired then maybe he would come play for useither way bummer :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(
1/13/2009 3:16:48 PM
Favors will probably save Hewitt's job.
1/13/2009 3:20:15 PM
So Favors is announcing in Atlanta (obviously) at 6:30, when Duke plays @ Georgia Tech that night. Gee, that sounds promising. I wonder if they'll parade him around the arena after he commits.I hate to be a pessimist but that doesn't sound good. What schools are on Cousins' top list? Us and who else?
1/13/2009 3:34:51 PM
^Of course he's announcing it in ATL no matter who he's going to. It being just before a GT game though does make me think he's going to GT.And I think us and Memphis are the biggest players for Cousins outside of UAB. ]
1/13/2009 3:38:22 PM
IC Mods are reporting Wall to Duke but we all know you cant trust those blue bastardsbut im on board with everyone else saying that he wont verbal until cousins commits]
1/13/2009 3:41:26 PM
IC Mods are idiots. Not sure how Memphis has room for more people. They are losing 3, bringing in 4 so far yet reportedly have offers extended to Wall, Cousins, Favors, Stephenson (who i think might head overseas), and 3 more players]
1/13/2009 3:41:54 PM
and the worst part about it is we're gonna have to play that beast next year tooHe's gonna maul us if we dont pick up cousins
1/13/2009 3:42:21 PM
Hey gunnz, what are our fallbacks should Cousins and Wall both go elsewhere?Do we have backups or do we eat the scholly's and try and get at some more talent next year? I really don't want to have marginal-ACC types being picked up because we struck out on the high-major elites...^^ Tyreke Evans, though he isn't ready, will almost assuredly go pro.[Edited on January 13, 2009 at 3:48 PM. Reason : never mind on dodson]
1/13/2009 3:45:06 PM
We won't sign another guard in this class if we don't get Wall.^there's still no room. Evans would have to leave just to make room for the guys coming in. Someone else would have to leave if they wanted Wall, and another for Cousins...]
1/13/2009 3:49:49 PM
Favors will rue the day he turned down an offer to play for NC STATE____________________________________________________________________Nym: here is what i currently know...if we dont land favors, wall or cousins then we are pretty much done on this class unless something like a cousins situation opens up. if not we will only be taking the 3 we have coming in.The only recruit we have showing on the board left for 2009 is an unrated C Mat Piotrowski. I know nothing about this kid. Here is what we are looking at for 2010PGRyan Harrow (COMMIT)SGBrian Richardson (Wilson, NC)Mychal Parker (Charlottesville, VA)Jay Canty (Jamestown, NC - High Point Verbal)SFTashawn Mabry (Rocky Mount, NC)Reco McCarter (Goldsboro, NC)PF/CMelvin Tabb (Raleigh, NC)CJ Leslie (COMMIT)Tobias Harris (Long Island, NY)Luke Cothron (Red Springs, NC)Kamren Belin (Roswell, GA)[Edited on January 13, 2009 at 4:04 PM. 1/13/2009 3:52:54 PM
it must suck to be the AD at Georgia Tech... he probably wants to fire Hewitt, but can't now that they (presumably) landed Favors
1/13/2009 3:58:11 PM
Hewitt did little his year with Bosh so why will he with Favors?
1/13/2009 4:15:13 PM
Kind of like how we did so much with Hickson?
1/13/2009 4:20:13 PM
It's much less likely that a one and done big man will, by himself, make a team go from mediocre to good/great than it would be a for a one and done guard.
1/13/2009 4:21:35 PM
That's generally true but that has more to do with the fact that big men take a while to grow into their bodies
1/13/2009 4:26:25 PM
I don't care what the internets say, i think he's still coming here.
1/13/2009 4:26:44 PM
^^ That and without a decent guard to get him the ball, a big guy isn't gonna be able to do a whole lot. Doesn't matter how good he is.
1/13/2009 4:35:46 PM
1/13/2009 4:35:49 PM
1/13/2009 6:12:06 PM
you are fooling yourself. If not for the nba rule, hickson wouldn't have even come to college. He was ready to go, he is already a solid contributor on the cavs, and he was a man among boys physically.
1/13/2009 6:14:31 PM
well I hope Duke beats the ever living shit out of Georgia tech now.
1/13/2009 6:18:38 PM
Doesn't the poll have a say?http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/highschool/stories/2008/11/11/high_school_derrick_favors.html?cxntlid=homepage_tab_newstabIf he commits to GT, I blame the jerks on TWW.
1/13/2009 6:25:41 PM
1/13/2009 6:39:42 PM
^well, if he chooses GT, come mid-season next year he may halfway regret his choice.
1/13/2009 6:52:22 PM
Well then he should say that the recruit will regret the day that he chose to play at GT. Whether or not the kid plays at GT, I doubt there are too many recruits who will regret the day they didn't choose to play at NC State...as sad as that is to say.
1/13/2009 8:03:22 PM
http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/highschool/stories/2008/11/11/high_school_derrick_favors.html?cxntlid=homepage_tab_newstabyeah according to this pole we're golden
1/14/2009 7:58:31 AM
if favors was a 3 or 4 year player, then maybe hewitt possibly getting fired would have been an issue, but favors is a 1 and done player. If hewitt gets fired in the offseason it won't effect favors much. He will start for GT no matter who the coach is next year, and the game will go through him. He will play his 1 season and be gone. It'd be great to get him here for 1 year, however, he knows he's done in 1 year, and he wants to play close to home. Let's just hope john wall makes the same decision and picks to run with us next year. (i'm not holding my breath though)
1/14/2009 8:22:44 AM
jbrick83, i was being facetious when i posted that...i should have posted the after it.
1/14/2009 8:56:34 AM
Haha. I was like..."really gunzz??"
1/14/2009 9:08:24 AM
Derrick Favors has reportedly narrowed his list to Georgia, Georgia Tech and N.C. State. His decision will be aired live, less than 30 minutes before Georgia Tech takes on Duke.http://www.highschoolot.com/content/story/4310679/
1/14/2009 1:41:41 PM
REALLY
1/14/2009 1:42:27 PM
^^ T-DUB action news has the breaking news story.Too bad it was mentioned YESTERDAY
1/14/2009 1:46:24 PM

1/14/2009 2:41:29 PM
I heard Brent Shaeffer is going to pick State, ya'll
1/14/2009 2:42:01 PM
T - 150 minutes until NC State shit.
1/14/2009 4:00:20 PM
Did Favors people get ESPN to televise the announcement?Answered my own question:
1/14/2009 4:01:03 PM
So ajc was blatantly putting out false information when they left NC State off their list but included Memphis? That's unprofesisonal!
1/14/2009 4:05:24 PM
1/14/2009 4:17:37 PM
1/14/2009 4:25:32 PM
yeah, they don't particularly like Sidney down there in Georgia.
1/14/2009 4:43:58 PM
^maybe because we're taking all their top talent?
1/14/2009 4:48:16 PM
I'm certain thats not the reason.
1/14/2009 4:50:42 PM
Favors should have waited until Saturday when we play GT. that would add to the excitement, now it looks more and more like GT got him. there is always hope though...also,
1/14/2009 5:09:16 PM
Yeah, but i wonder why they decided to include Memphis and Calipari?
1/14/2009 5:16:20 PM
http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/highschool/stories/2008/11/11/high_school_derrick_favors.htmlMAYBE IF WE SKEW THIS SOME MORE HE WILL CHANGE HIS MIND AND COME TO STATE!
1/14/2009 5:47:00 PM
i've pretty much all but conceded the fact that wall is gonna pick georgia tech tonight, and as soon as i come to grips with this. someone on packpride posts that the latest news from rivals is that favors is leaning to nc state. now favors himself said only him and his coaches know about his decision, so the rivals article is pure speculation, but wtf... i take this stuff way to seriously, and when i finally come to grips with the fact he is going to GTech, i get sucked back in. if he doesn't pick us id rather him pick georgia. at least we wouldn't have to play him for 1 yearedited to add that i don't have a rivals account so i cant check, but it appears that the dude was just making stuff up, someone else on the site verified he couldn't find it on rivals. ugh..[Edited on January 14, 2009 at 6:05 PM.
