Well, I am looking to probably start this game soon. I am probably going to play a gnomish warlock on a server with some friends. Any suggestions?Page 51 is better than all the rest.[Edited on June 20, 2005 at 1:16 PM. Reason : .]

6/21/2005 10:31:52 AM
gosh i dont think im going to come close to getting my mount at level 40. im 38 and still only have 42 gold anybody got any tips here hah?
6/21/2005 10:35:17 AM
I was in about the same situation.I just mined and sold mithril and iron. If your fishing is high enough you can get a few gold from a stack of deviate fish as well
6/21/2005 10:37:48 AM
mmm yea i picked up mining but its still at level 30 i guess i could try and get my skill up and mine other things to get some money. altho mining isnt as easy as skinning to level up and stuff prolly :-/ and yea my fishing is maxed out (i need to do the artisan fishing quest sometime). so good idea i guess ill try and fish for deviate fish too.ive also been thinking of trying to farm burning elementals in arathi highlands..altho its dangerous due to heavy alliance there. but on my whirlwind axe quest i got like 2g for 5 elemental fires or something i think.
6/21/2005 10:42:44 AM
^ Heh that is really cheap for the Elemental Fire. Each one is worth 1-2g now that everyone wants Fire Protection Pots so that might be another good way to farm money as well.^^^ Yeah unless you want to play the AH game you are not going to have enough money at level 40 to get a mount. If you have gathering professions such as herbalism/skinning/mining that is your best bet at making enough money. You can also buy low/sell high but that is riskier and you don't really have much money to play with anyways.I definitely didn't have enough money when I turned level 40 but thankfully porcha gave me the last bit I needed. how far into skinning does it take to get to wear stuff is selling for decent? and is it just the plain leather that you skin that sells or what? cause i have a level 10 alt who picked up skinning and leatherworking (rogue). who i could skin with and send the money i make or the mats to my main if you can start making money fairly earlyand wow i didnt know ppl were getting that much for elemental fires on your server. ill have to check the auction house on our server and see what they are going for because if i can bring my friend (55 mage) with me again like i did on my axe quest we could farm those elementals fast and fairly safely.[Edited on June 21, 2005 at 10:47 AM. I don't really think skinning makes much money until upper levels. Then you can sell Thick Leather for 75s a stack (minimum) and Rugged Leather for 1g a stack. I sold the lower level ones when I was skilling up but never found as much of a market for them as there is for the higher level ones. I have never put up a stack of Rugged Leather and not had it sold.On the other hand lower level herbalism makes a ton of money right now. Currently on my server there are a lot of guilds trying to level up their Thorium Brotherhood Faction. To do that one of the ingredients you need is Kingsblood which is a fairly low level herb. It went from a few silver a stack to 7g per stack. Definitely a lot of people making money from that at the moment.[Edited on June 21, 2005 at 10:53 AM. Reason : I think that is about 250ish skinning skill or so]
6/21/2005 10:48:34 AM
ah ok word. that would take me awhile to get to haha(skinning). looks like ill be farming elemental fire, fishing, and maybe asking someone politely for a loan . i have found that like 10 of the crocolisk teeth go for about 25-30s (from dustwallow marsh). and i can kill them pretty fast since they are just at or below my level and they spawn fairly fast. not as good as other things but it could helpive run scarlet monestary some...but i dont see what the big deal is as far as getting money goes i havent seen any huge return at all. altho ive gotten some nice gear and plan on going to get more of it.i guess if i got a higher level friend and we were splitting the 5-7s per kill 2ways instead of 5 i could get some money pretty fast that way as well considering there are a ton of mobs in thereill look into the herbalism too. i could ditch leatherworking for now and just do skinning and herbalism with my alt maybe[Edited on June 21, 2005 at 10:56 AM. I hear a lot of buying mounts / skills when a person hits a certain level. If you do not have enought $$$ at the time, you can still get it later, right?
6/21/2005 11:00:35 AM
^ Yes and honestly money is only an issue up to level 40 when you want to get your mount. Once you get to level 43 or so and have paid off all of your debts and have a nice mount money isn't really an issue ever again at least in my experience. By the time you get to 60 you have tons of money to blow on things like potions and enchants.
6/21/2005 11:03:00 AM
^yep
6/21/2005 11:06:59 AM
yea im sure. i mean even with 42 gold right now if i didnt need to buy my mount id be doin fine at level 38. id be buying potions and enchants for sure. as well as maybe being lazy and buying a piece of armor or two of the AH. thats where all my money went. i used to upgrade all my stuff on the AH constantly when i was in the 20s and stuff. and it killed my money when really i didnt need the best gear then. the difference between a +5str +5st and spending like 1g50s to upgrade to something +7 +7 at level 25 or something is stupid now looking back on it. its nearly adding decimal places to my attack power and 20 hp. (i didnt know all this then).so im going to avoid doing stuff like that with my alt for sure

herbalism + alchemy is probably the biggest money maker and still can benefit you, if you just wanna be a straight up chinese farming bot, do herbalism + mining and run circles around in burning steppes. Fishing for stonescale eels or killing the fire elementals in ungoro are another get rich quick method.[Edited on June 21, 2005 at 11:36 AM. Reason : .]

god. farming in that game seems so pathetic. How the hell you can be entertained at picking herbs and mining veins for hours on end in a game is beyond me. Its part of one of the many reasons i quit that game. That and endless post-60 instance runs
6/21/2005 12:56:51 PM
we're so glad you posted thengtfo
6/21/2005 1:01:26 PM
for me when i farm..i havent just farmed mining/herbalism etc. what i have done so far when ive needed money (except for now i need a huge amount..) but usually i find humanoid's (centaur camps, razorbacks..) that average around my level. meaning if im a 38 now ill go for say 35-38 groups or so. i get the most money from these groups, as well as cloth such as silk, mageweave cloth etc that i use for bandages or sell while at the same time getting great and extremely easy XP. my "farming" usually invovles killing things.its a part of the game. its a part of life. its like work. thats why they call the other things "professions". why in real life do you spend 8 hrs a day 5 days a week "farming" (aka performing similar tasks over and over for hours at a time) at a full time job..to bring home the money to pay the bills and buy the cool toys on the weekend[Edited on June 21, 2005 at 1:31 PM. 6/21/2005 1:29:42 PM

6/21/2005 1:32:35 PM

6/21/2005 1:43:51 PM
word. shoulda done stormreaver for horde :p only because im on there and need more ppl i know. haha. well. sorta know.
6/21/2005 1:53:15 PM
^^^^ You would have to check but if your server has serious guilds that are doing Molten Core then most likely kingsblood is probably worth a lot.

realms up?
6/21/2005 2:06:26 PM
There is a guy in my guild paying 20g a stack for kingsblood (other higher level flowers go for about the same). If you want money herbalism is definately the way to go,but maybe only at higher levels. If you can do it try farming fused wirings from gnomeregan they tend to go for 3-6g each and are one of the major things used at high end content. The only thing I buy for my main is thorium, elemental earth and fire, fused wirings, and dense stones. other people in my guild buy mats for fire prot pots and shadow prot pots as well. enchanting stuff can sell decently as well. Illusion dust goes for about 15g a stack (only obtained from high level stuff tho).
6/21/2005 2:06:37 PM
im thinkin about gettin back into it. i haven't played in over a month on my lvl 25 warlock. (i'm still payin the monthly fee too )

LOL this thread is full of nerdz ... oh wait
6/22/2005 2:51:35 AM
kingsblood is a lvl 125 herb, you can easily farm for it in arathi highlands if you are in the 30s.there is also a good spot for fire elementals that will drop elemental gold (another good seller)made about 15g from that zone just messing around for 2 hours. prolly could have made more but i was still getting good exp from mobs there so i didnt farm as much kingsblood as i could have
