Abu's not bad, but he certainly didn't seem to improve much this past season.

5/3/2016 10:47:03 AM
wonder if it's an academic thing. isn't he supposed to be one of the intelligent players?
5/3/2016 10:53:40 AM
he iswhich is probably why he wants to leave this dumpster fire of a program
5/3/2016 11:22:40 AM
^remember that miserable comment ?
5/3/2016 12:03:00 PM
ok so we're not a dumpster fire?
5/3/2016 12:04:07 PM
this Dumpster fire has been burning since 1990.
5/3/2016 12:40:35 PM
It's been burning since the world's been turning.
5/3/2016 12:45:03 PM
Not a betting man, but I'd say State will win an ACC title in football before we do in basketball
5/3/2016 3:18:36 PM
all you gotta do to win the ACC in basketball is win 4 or 5 games in a row in March
5/3/2016 3:23:16 PM
i wouldn't bet on either happening any time soon
5/3/2016 4:11:12 PM
Who cares if we're a dumpster fire next year? Only regret is we'll be wasting Dennis Smith Jr, how often are we going to have the #1 PG in the nation in our backyard and growing up a NC State fan? Even if we added Bam this year, kept Cat, and kept Abu, we still wouldn't be picked to win the ACC. This is that year most of the ACC teams can just take off and focus on 2017 because, on paper, it's not really close talent-wise with Duke and the rest of the ACC.
5/4/2016 9:23:26 AM
Lol, you think being picked to win the ACC is what would make us happy? Shit, i'd be happy being a top 4 ACC team
5/4/2016 10:16:25 AM
I'd be happy with more players on scholarship than those leaving the program. We will have the look of a team next year that just made a coaching transition. Not suppose to happen at this point in his tenure.
5/4/2016 10:43:28 AM
I'd be happy not playing in the newly minted Mark Gottfried Invitational/ACC Tournament Tuesday.[Edited on May 4, 2016 at 10:45 AM. Reason : Sidney Lowe never played in a Tuesday tournament game. ]
5/4/2016 10:45:05 AM
Jay Wright and Jim Calhoun have played in Tuesday Big Least tourney gamesjust wanted to bump the thread
5/4/2016 6:52:32 PM
maybe DSJ can be our kemba walker c.2011
5/4/2016 9:04:43 PM
5/5/2016 10:34:58 PM
Anyone with a oulse would be a major target at this point
5/6/2016 7:49:49 AM
Gott better land this Turkish Delight and keep Abu to create our Twin towers of power and we will wreck the league.
5/6/2016 8:09:38 AM
sounds like he won't make a decision till June when his current season ends.
5/6/2016 8:25:01 AM
It's [old] but Ben Carter chose Michigan St a couple days ago. Grad transfer PF
5/6/2016 8:34:53 AM
Turns out Gott's reliance on grad transfers to fill scholarships isn't working outShockerTypically the guys that leave are running from sinking ships or bad situations. So ready for our next hc
5/6/2016 8:43:57 AM
Yes, we know boobs. So you can then bitch and complain when he doesn't win an ACC or NCAA title in his first couple of seasons.
5/6/2016 9:43:33 AM
Yep. All transfers are bad and we shouldn't take them. It's not like Ralston Turner was any good for us.Trevor Lacey was clearly a waste of a scholarship.Terry Henderson was suppose to be our 2nd best player last year, but who cares, he got hurt, transfers are injury prone.Torin Dorn, a former conference freshman of the year, is going to just be awful despite all the positive reports he's getting from the players/staff. Clearly just fluff hoping we forget he's a damned-dirty transfer. Yeah, schools like Michigan St. and Duke aren't taking transfers or anything.
5/7/2016 10:24:08 AM
Lol you argue like a cable news pundit. No one said all transfers are bad.
5/7/2016 10:50:21 AM
Um... Yes.... People on our T-dub said those very things multiple times.
5/7/2016 11:15:04 AM
And i'm not one of them. My point was that he dug himself in a hole underrecruting in previous periods. It left us with too many holes to fill to be able to expect to continue to bring in impactful grad transfersAlso notice i said GRAD transfers in my post above. Reading comprehension people. Christ. Listing Lacey, henderson, turner, gtfo[Edited on May 7, 2016 at 3:17 PM. Reason : M]
5/7/2016 3:16:27 PM
He doesn't rely on grad transfers then, does he?
5/7/2016 6:04:35 PM
This recruiting session. Jesus christ people
5/7/2016 6:07:37 PM
You think he was planning to lose the twins and have Freeman hurt??
5/7/2016 7:22:36 PM
He knew he would have freeman hurt. We needed bigs
5/7/2016 7:38:02 PM
^^If he doesn't know certain players are possibly leaving, then isn't he somewhat at fault there to keep that connection between player/coach at a level where they know things? If Ludacris, Bullet, and ssclark are currently happy with the state of the basketball program.......
5/8/2016 12:26:43 AM
Sandman is a miserable fucke. That's a fact. I wish he'd pick a different team to "cheer" for.[Edited on May 8, 2016 at 12:37 AM. Reason : Get bent asshole ]
5/8/2016 12:35:50 AM
^So you really think that nothing is wrong and that the Abu statement was falsely made?If that is so, why wouldn't Abu or anyone else at NCSU refute it?
5/8/2016 12:43:05 AM
^Give up. They're in deep.

5/8/2016 2:03:49 PM
^what kinda bullshit comparison is that? amato + herb > gott + doeren? you're just making up an argument...nobody's mentioned Amato, Herb, or Doeren until you just did.
5/8/2016 4:56:42 PM
That was just a troll. At this point im out of fucks
5/8/2016 5:16:04 PM
I don't know how you can fault Gott for some of his planning. I mean you have Trevor Lacey for 2 years, tons of reports that he told State he was coming back for 1 more year, so why would you put an emphasis on recruiting for his spot? He surprised the coaches and decided to forego his final season, so what did Gott do? He brings in Dorn as a transfer PG/SG, and then he goes out and lands 4* SG/SF Maverick Rowan(5* in the 2017 class before reclassifying). So he finds out super late in recruiting, and he brings in an all-conference freshman transfer and a 4* player to replace him. That seems like adequate spacing and potential, esp. given you have Henderson coming in that should take over last year and filled the void from Lacey. This year they dump a ton of recruiting into a game-changing class with DSJ and Bam. We have those 2 coming in, and no one gives a shit how last season went or if Abu stays. We land the best PG in the entire class, and know that if Cat leaves early, we're covered. But looking at the rest of the roster, we really can't offer a ton of PT so we can't go out and recruit top-tier talent. Gott understands you don't want to pull a Lowe and reach at players to waste scholarship spots. So he either has to hope all his players stay, realistic since the Martins were getting PT and Abu has started 2 seasons now, and then look at recruiting a strong 2017 class with more PT to offer. We're not in the position to land 4* or 5* players without PT to offer. Not many 4* players are wanting to come to NC State to be back-ups or play limit minutes. Gott is focused on bringing in top talent, either by transfer or post-grads. The appeal to post-grads is that they are basically "hole fillers" on teams and they still help you recruit. Look at our 2017 recruiting efforts, we've offered 30+ kids, and a ton are 4* and 5* players that we're swinging for the fence on. We have a TON of PT to offer for the 2017 class. This whole deal got derailed last year with Henderson getting hurt. You don't think the previous year would have sucked with Lacey or Cat missing the whole season? TJ Warren the season before? We had one bad year, and people are acting like the whole strategy is flawed and our staff is awful. Abu will be back, we'll add at least one more player, and we'll be fine(barring another significant injury).

5/8/2016 9:29:07 PM
the pattern of transfers have become a bit worrisome. but at the same time, harping on tweets in the offseason isn't good for a mentally healthy lifestyle
5/8/2016 9:43:40 PM
5/8/2016 10:57:45 PM
Malcolm Brogdon wasn't on our team.
5/8/2016 11:01:35 PM
I'm genuinely curious to what boozie's timeline of expectations would be for a coach. Like, is it make an elite 8 in your first 5 years? Or finish in the top 4 of the regular season at some point between year 2 and 5? I mean is it something quantitative? Or just "do better, I'm mad"
5/9/2016 12:19:40 AM
It should be qualitative because dynamic circumstances are important. Thats why year 2 was almost as bad as this year despite being quantitatively the best year. The other years were pretty average.
5/9/2016 1:29:53 AM
5/9/2016 6:59:40 AM
^Henderson was being touted as our "2nd best player" on the team, clearly Cat was going to be the best. Which is why I said the year before losing either Lacey OR Cat(as they were our 2 best players). The TJ Warren comparison was a bit much, but still, take Duke and have them lose Allen the 1st game of the season, you really think they have a great year? (Allen being the 2nd best player on their team, much like Henderson was being considered that for us). 16-17 with a guy that scored a ton of points isn't that impressive. Remember VT when they had the "ACC POtY!" and they had an awful record? The best player on a bad team can still put up gaudy stats. Cat's scoring was very impressive, but most of his other stats were just average. I don't think he ended up being in the top 3 for ACC POtY, so get out of here with that "BEST PLAYER IN THE CONFERENCE" crap, because it's just not accurate. Our worst season in the last 5 years is 1 game below .500 with a key starter missing the entire season and another starter recovering from a leg injury...and you people are talking about burning down the program and starting over? Really? If we have 2 more awful seasons with bad recruiting, then pour your kerosene and light the match, but at this point it would be premature. Do you really see a high profile coach wanting to come inherit "our dumpster fire" of a team AS WELL as our shitty fanbase that is known to have "unrealistic expectations" of their coaches?
5/9/2016 9:03:26 AM
^ i agree with you. don't get me wrong, there is definitely something concerning about the annual transfers away from State. of course transfers occur every where and we've been on the beneficial end of the transfer carousel as well. but when guys like Abu are supposedly strongly considering transferring, that's cause for some kinda concern. on the whole, i like gottfried and while we've swung and missed this recruiting cycle (aside from landing one the highest ranked recruits we've ever signed), he has shown every single year that he can adjust on the fly and find some pretty good players late in the process. last year fucking sucked and a lot of that was due to Henderson's injury and Freeman's injury to a lesser degree. but at this point, i think it's fair to give Gott the benefit of the doubt.
