why would you think the DA is looking out for the cops by making a spectacle about the evidence even existing? That just sounds like typical assistant DA incompetence.

I don't think it's the Jury's fault the judge refused to allow evidence, or the DA is incompetent or too friendly with the cop or whatever happened. It's also not clear this interview would have been enough to sway them regardless.

What is insane is how leftists cannot differentiate between acknowledging victim errors and justifying the police shootings.

The right is always pointing out the victim's mistakes and crimes because the left is always IGNORING them, because you want race to be the big factor when it obviously isn't.

Transcript of the interview the day after the shooting that the judge refused to allow admitted as evidence:

http://www.twincities.com/2017/06/20/transcript-of-jeronimo-yanezs-bca-interview-the-day-after-the-shooting/

The cop never says he saw a gun.

Which again, makes perfect sense since the cop couldn't tell anyone at the scene where the gun was and no one at the scene even bothered to go try and retrieve or to disarm the suspect.

I'm confused .... doesn't that hurt your argument more than help it ? (completely ignoring elusis of course).

If I know you have a gun... and I don't know where you have it. And you go reaching for some shit. Am I going to think, "I bet this guy is super fucking chill and is just going to get his wallet out and since he's such a pleasant dude we're going to chat about tail lights and where the nearest autozone is."

Or am I going to think, " I wonder if he's keeping his fucking gun that he just warned me about over there, and I'm telling him not to fuck with it, but dude is still reaching over there and not stopping, so time to bust a cap?"

ESPECIALLY, in the context of "I'm a spazzy as fuck dude with no ability to ask pertinent questions or remain calm." Hurt your argument in that it introduces reasonable doubt that the cop legit feared for his life, because he didn't know for sure Castille was reaching for his gun.

I'm not sure why the gun being visible is an issue... but wasn't the gun fully visible immediately after the shooting via the FB Live video?

We ignore the mistakes of the victim because those mistakes do not pose an imminent threat to human life and are not punishable by death without trial.

Oscar Grant should not have been fighting on the BART
Michael Brown should not have moved towards the officer
Freddy Gray should not have ran from police
Eric Garner should not have been selling cigarettes

None of these are reasons to die and our biggest point is that the lives matter more than the crimes or "mistakes" they have committed.

I don't think so. First of all, it would have destroyed Yanez's testimony on the stand (if it had been allowed at the precise moment it was introduced by the prosecution).

A glimpse at Yanez's testimony in court:
http://m.startribune.com/jeronimo-yanez-takes-the-stand-to-defend-philando-castile-shooting/427452083/

Guy repeatedly says he saw a gun. Of course he cant get straight what part he saw "ugh, it was the barrel, I mean the rear of the slide....,,,,it was the butt of the gun hanging out of his shorts!" Nevermind, that in his BCA testimony the day after the shooting he never claims he saw a gun. He saw Castile "make a 'C' with his hand and grab 'something'. But it was dark." That's the closest he ever got to admitting to seeing a gun, until he got coached up.

So immediately it's like, get your fucking story straight. Where was the gun? Why could no one at scene locate it until it fell out of the guys pocket? Why did you say 'I don't know where the fuck the gun is" at the scene? Is this guy a lying liar or not?

And before we cry too much about attacking the witness, this EXACTLY how the credibility of Castile's partner in the passenger seat was treated by the defense. They portrayed her as a liar.

I happen to think Castile did reach for 'something' but stopped when, on the dashcam video, Castile says " I'm not reaching for anything." There's like a half second, then cop starts screaming "STOP REACHING".

***unloads 7 shots into the car***

Compare that to the reactions of Castile and his partner, both calm, both claiming he wasn't reaching for anything. Who overreacted here?

I'm not claiming this is enough to convict Yanez, but it does make his story smell like bullshit.

Perhaps a resident TWW lawyer can clue us in on the introduction of evidence ?during? Testimony - whatever the prosecution was attempting. Was it the prosecutions mistake or was the judge being a dick?

^^where do you people keep getting this shit? Is this a Buttbart meme?

By only looking at this case in hindsight it shows you haven't put 1 second of thought into what things looked like from the cop's perspective. That is why people (not in the cult of social justice) bring up the mistakes the victim made... because they are capable of considering both sides. If you only look at the end result in hindsight you aren't being objective at all.

Again... this isn't justifying the shooting. This is just entertaining the idea that it is possible the cop had a reason to fear for his life from his perspective.

^^Really? It happens a lot. I knew a kid in junior high who was messing around with a gun, it went off, bullet went through the wall, ricocheted off a lamp, and hit his little sister in the head.

he was pulled over because they thought he might have been a suspect in an armed robbery. The broken tail light was just the excuse they gave for the stop.

This person was armed.

But the two things that will come of this story is that the woman was white and she survived. At least she's currently in the process of surviving. She's in critical condition. We were heading to Topsail this morning and got caught in some eastbound rubbernecking traffic. Really sucked for the folks leaving the beach heading westbound on I-40.

^Highway Patrol initial press release said she died. She did not (yet) but is in critical condition at Wake Med, hence the initial link title.

^^I had a friend coming back from a week at the beach. She was in traffic for 5 hours because of this.

If everyone is afraid to call them, can we just stop paying taxes? I mean that's a public service that a large majority of our population are honestly afraid to use. Policing highways is one thing. But if you offer a service nobody wants to use, you go out of business because nobody wants to spend money on what you offer.

Here we're forced to purchase police protection, and end up getting killed for it.

A woman lost her life because a cop with a twitchy trigger finger heard a loud noise.

A loud noise.

Maybe the lady should have waited to be approached and not approached the cops herself, but Jesus we've got to train these people to not be so scared.

It also doesn't help when you have cop car ambushes like you do in NYC.

Its disgusting that the prevailing message when a black man is shot is that he should have just listened to the officer and now that a white woman has been shot everyone is clamoring for police reforms.

It's not like she charged the car with an axe. When you call the cops and they show up, many a reasonable person will approach to speak with them. It's why they called.

^^ So how far away should we all make sure to stand from police vehicles? I need to know for my safety. I think she should have stayed inside the house if she thought something sketchy was going on, but just because she went out and approached the vehicle doesn't mean she should have been shot/deserved it/brought it on herself. I can't believe it's always the same conversation and justifications here.

A pretty white woman was killed, and someone is going to pay for it!
When a white cop shoots someone, it's like trying to pull teeth trying to get any details about the shooting. Now that a black cop killed a pretty white woman, his deets hit the front page one day later.

It's a fucked up situation though. Probably a cop with an itchy trigger finger.

it doesn't help that the white woman was shot by an officer that has managed to get three complaints and a lawsuit filed against him during 21 months on the job.

I'd like to see the statement given by the partner that was driving. I'd be pissed if my passenger pulled a gun out in front of my face and shot someone through my window.

sounds like a case of selective memory. When a black paddy wagon driver managed to kill a black man while in custody, the Baltimore sun had the credentials of two white officers that weren't even present at the time of death the same day.
