Sad day for college basketball when the best basketball conference of the past decade has to dissolve because its only number 5 or 6 in football. Damn.

Looks like UConn will be relegated down to mid major status where they belong

it's okay, uconn will be in the acc eventually.

hopefully nc state is not in the acc at that point.

I dont think they will ever be. It's obvious that the ACC would only do it if they had absolutely no choice. I could see them adding cincinnati and having an uneven division football conference with even team numbered divisions for basketball (ND)

meh

they got 3 national titles in the last 10 years, so do the ACC and SEC

i guess they have been the deepest bball conference, but thats cause they had the most teams

The only way you would get me to add UConn is if you offered a straight swap of them for BC.

Of course, I'd probably take a straight swap of South Alabama for BC.

How ironclad is this Notre Dame contract to join the ACC? A league strong in the northeast and upper Midwest made up of at the moment a lot of Catholic schools and they won't have football so Notre Dame would never be pressured to join their football league? That's Notre Dame's dream. It's not like the ACC brought them in for their basketball or hockey teams.

Not saying it's likely to happen, just on the surface it makes sense to me.

^At the same time they are set to be playing in one of the most storied basketball conferences in the nation. Who wouldn't want to play in a league with Duke, UNC, Syracuse, and an up and coming NC State program?

newsflash no one cares about basketball. they want to keep their football revenues.

BTW, i havent kept up with this much. What's the reason the ACC hasn't taken UCONN? How many more teams do we need right now?

That conference does not exist anymore. It has the same name, but it died awhile ago.

Besides, we're constantly being told in college sports tradition isn't worth a shit anymore.

There are a lot of really fucking dumb neanderthals in this country. That's the only explanation why more people would watch that game than the awesome Butler-IU game.

the nfl is now actively advertising that football is safe for children to play. they see the writing on the wall. this ship is sinking b/c parents aren't letting their kids play.

okay that is completely ridiculous. How can an irrelevant bowl outdraw the #1 team in CBK? Particularly in a close game where they get upset... makes no sense at all...

I love football and always have... but I find it hard to believe that a sports fan would rather watch that game then the Butler game. It was fantastic.

To be fair, the Butler IU game wasn't an overly hyped game since it was #1 versus an unranked team and it was the first bowl game of the season

and most people probably wouldn't have thought to watch butler/IU until the last few minutes anyway. the whole game might've been great, but i'm guessing a lot of people wouldn't think to turn it on until they heard IU might lose. i think that could explain more than the first bowl game of the season because it really was a who gives a flying fuck bowl

Because basketball is a terrible sport to watch if you have nothing invested in the game. I don't think I've ever purposely tuned into a basketball game that wasn't a tournament game or game with NC State in it.

the concessions given to Boise are absurd. the latest to come out is that Boise will get 50% of all bowl money and the rest will eb split between the other 10-11 members

that's just crazy.
