This is what I mentioned in my last post. It is called the Sapporo Dome and is located in Japan. It hosted games at the 2002 FIFA World Cup. [Edited on December 5, 2010 at 6:02 PM. Reason : .]

Some information for those interested in the cooling system. (I know I was interested even though I was disappointed they got the WC)
12/9/2010 8:31:55 AM
That sounds complicated. Despite the stadiums being cool, people are going to have to endure the grueling heat for the majority of the month. I mean, aren't the players going to have to train somewhere boiling hot, and the fans have to be out in the heat all day except the ~3 hours they happen to be in the stadium that day?
12/9/2010 11:21:13 AM
Hope that shit doesn't break...or you're in for a miserable game experience. How nice are the beaches there?? Because if I'm going to that World Cup, if I'm not at the game, I'm going to be in the water...although I would hope it doesn't feel like bathwater.
12/9/2010 12:05:23 PM
I share the same concerns. Not sure how much FIFA has thought all this through. I mean it's nice that the stadiums will be somewhat comfortable but I think they're still in for a not-so-fun experience outside of that. Training definitely brings in a whole new aspect. Indoor training facilities? I dono.

2022 January World Cup?http://espn.go.com/sports/soccer/news/_/id/5905460/uefa-michel-platini-ok-2022-winter-cup-qatarlol at the concerns about heat and the possibility of letting the entire middle east co-host.
12/12/2010 1:27:25 PM
God they shit the bed so hard on that selection.
12/12/2010 2:34:22 PM
^^ Club teams would never let their respective domestic league get fucked over like that. We'll probably see quite a few players not getting released to play should that happen.
12/12/2010 2:42:32 PM
^^There is no doubt that they took a bribe, if they are concerned about so many different things after the vote. They should have taken weather and the countries size into consideration before giving it to them. Australia would have been a much better choice, if they were looking to give it to another nation who had never hosted.^FIFA requires clubs to release players for games that will be played on an official FIFA International match day.[Edited on December 12, 2010 at 2:44 PM. I hope they try to turn it into a joint bid with Iran or something and every major country boycotts the World Cup and starts a new world federation other than FIFA so we can get away from all their bullshit. And that just gave me an awesome idea. How cool will the World Cup be like 1000 years in the future when we can have an Earth team vs. Mars and shit like that
12/12/2010 3:34:32 PM
^That would actually be the solar system cup
12/12/2010 3:51:05 PM
the worlds cup
12/12/2010 4:02:48 PM
There's no way you can know that for a fact.

I don't even care if there was bribing going on. Russia has a good team and has never hosted. Qatar however, totally sucks on the field and just took 1 of 32 spots in the 2022 World Cup that could have gone to a better team who can make it on their own. FIFA did make a comment a while back about expanding the tournament and letting more teams in. I wouldn't be shocked, if they tried something like this to avoid screwing a good team out of a World Cup spot.
12/17/2010 1:32:53 AM
Qatar vs Canada. play-in game
12/17/2010 1:29:30 PM
^LMAO! Probably more like Republic of Ireland vs Qatar.

Is that really news to you?FIFA is more corrupt than any organized crime outfit. Also, I would love it if countries boycotted the 2022 World Cup and played their seasons right through the fucking thing in January. Someone has to show those fuckers they don't own soccer.[Edited on January 7, 2011 at 3:49 PM. Reason : .]

nah, I'm not surprised by it. Just passing it along to people who may have not seen it.I saw Wenger was opposed and that the Premier League would be as well. They'll cave and do whatever FIFA says, I'm sure

USA 1 Chile 1. We tied it on a pk. I didn't see it listed on tv, so I didn't watch. I guess it was only on espn3?
1/23/2011 11:28:12 AM
It was on Telefutura, which I don't have.Glad to see the young guys get a match like that. Not like Chile brought an "A" team but good experience for the summer and the Gold Cup.
1/23/2011 11:30:12 AM
^Yep, we have the Gold Cup, U-20 World Cup, and U-23 Olympic qualifying coming up. The guy who scored the goal vs South Africa is only 18 I think, so he will have plenty of chances to play this year.
1/23/2011 11:37:12 AM
I watched. It was boring. The only players worth a shit for the future that played were Bunbury, Agudelo, and Ream.
1/23/2011 12:24:12 PM
Flashin back for the hell of it. I love this shit.
2/13/2011 11:32:07 PM
^rewatched those a day or two ago. still gives me goosebumps when i watch it.
2/13/2011 11:41:14 PM
My reaction was more enthusiastic, bloodier, and plain stupid.
2/14/2011 11:25:54 AM
i do appreciate the bumps for the landon goal but this thread did remind me that fucking Qatar is hosting a World Cup

God damnit. If it wasn't for a bachelor party, I would've went to one of the friendlies this month.
3/5/2011 12:16:56 AM
So according to some friends that own a soccer bar in Charlotte, the USMNT will play a gold cup match at Bank of America Stadium. The matchups are supposed to be announced on Tuesday.
3/5/2011 9:31:58 AM
yeah I think I read that they'll be playing Charlotte, Tampa, and somewhere else for first round gamesI think the Charlotte games are on a Wed or Thurs though
3/5/2011 10:04:06 AM
Just coming into this thread to name-drop that I've been chilling with Charlie Davies the past few days. He's in Charleston playing with DC United in the Carolina Challenge Cup. My roommate played for DC United a few years back and is still friends with a lot of those guys and they've been hanging around the house all weekend with Davies in tow.My roommate thinks Davies has dropped down a level and is not too optimistic about him getting back to National Team quality. That's all.
3/7/2011 9:19:50 AM
French Ligue 1 to MLS is dropping a level, that's quite the inside scoop your roommate has
