i also have another questionmy planner is begging me to call and get our cake and whatnot in order. we still have about 4 months, does that seem early to yall? (i mean im doing it and would rather be early than late, but im just curious)[Edited on February 13, 2011 at 8:08 AM. Reason : WWWOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOO 50]

and also since no one reads the last post
2/13/2011 8:10:36 AM
We didn't even decide to have a cake until 3 months out I think you'd be ok, but she prolly just wants you at least thinking about itAnd I totally agree with bride v groom on wedding day. I was peachy, calm, not nervous at all. But I could tell justin had been nervous/antsy all day when I walked down the aisle. He just had that look
2/13/2011 10:06:03 AM
We're going to book our cake person (and design) by May the LATEST. Aka, a year in advance Granted, I'm like 8 hrs away and want to get it handled. As for the groom being nervous, Eric goes with the flow too much.. I think he would mostly be nervous of rain bc while it won't mess up our venue and decorating too much, it'll F up his golf plans
2/13/2011 11:41:14 AM
oh we have the baker booked as of last summer but we havent gone over what we want needwe essentially want about 15 or so dozen of different cupcakes. (ie a dozen of this, a dozen of that) plus a small cake for cutting.
2/13/2011 11:43:22 AM
Yeah I want everything set in stone by May, down to flavors and design... trying to have mostly everything finished by December. No spring break next year seriously screwed up my planning schedule...
2/13/2011 11:45:07 AM
^wow! good luck, but i know you got it i really wanna wait until its a little closer to the actual date to decide especially since they will all be totally different (flavors and all) and i wanna make sure that i like them and they don't get "old" if that makes any sense. ie
2/13/2011 11:53:05 AM
I finished printing all the envelopes with our address and settled on my design for the invite insert. We are using three fonts...Chopin Script for the reply card wording.Parma Petit and Ablemarle Swash for the invite and envelope addressing. The fonts are a lot of fun if anyone is doing print your own.Pics on my blog.

Ok ladies, I need some advice. I've just been asked to be a maid of honor for a friend. I've never been in a wedding let alone a moh, what are my duties, stuff like that. She also has a matron of honor....
2/14/2011 11:14:34 PM
I would recommend you go and read on theknot.com
2/15/2011 8:57:28 AM
Aside from standing close to the bride during the ceremony...your main job is to keep the bride laughing and smiling. Yeah there's the head up in planning a shower or bachelorette party, making sure her train (if there is one) is straight and fluffed for pictures, holding her bouquet/groom's wedding band during the ceremony, getting the attire and accessories that she's chosen (if she's got particulars on that)But the MAIN thing is to just keep being the supportive friend you are and lift her spirits when shit like the guestlist or crazy in-laws get her stressed out during the planning. Offer your help when you can. This does not by any means mean enabling bridezilla behavior...just be a friend
2/15/2011 9:17:59 AM
^^ good advice. After you do ask the bride what she wants help with. My maid of honor has never been a bridesmaids before but apparently read their site and asked her mom for advice then was very proactive asking what I want help with.it's been great!
2/15/2011 9:57:33 AM
I've read online that the matron and moh both help planning and hold the bouquet, ring, stand next to the bride, etc. In your experiences do you know who does what? Is there a certain way it's supposed to be done? lol Or does the bride decide all that?I've already offered my help and she's already taking advantage of it! I'm so excited for her!
2/15/2011 10:44:57 AM
I, too, am I MOH and trying to make invitations for the bridal shower. Guess I should have done them already since the party is March 12th and her aunt keeps hounding me about it. I suck at this.
2/15/2011 2:30:20 PM
^^ The bride decides all that. But doesn't hurt to ask her!^ aha yeah you should have sent those out by now. That's less than a month away!
2/15/2011 2:41:45 PM
yeah, well she's having like 3, so they can get the next one.
2/15/2011 3:04:42 PM
bmel if you haven't gotten the invitations done yet and don't think you will in the next couple weeks, it may be worth your time to just go to Paperless Post and get something churned out.]
2/15/2011 3:14:32 PM
Considering multiple people will be invited to all 3 showers, I don't think it's too big a deal if the invites are sent out like 3 weeks in advance...[Edited on February 15, 2011 at 3:17 PM. Reason : .]
2/15/2011 3:17:25 PM
^^ My brother's girlfriend made the invites and I'm going to print them from my computer because I'm poor. I mean, I could just do evites
2/15/2011 3:28:03 PM
Hurray! Anthropologie finally launched bhldn.comIn love with the ribboned silk dress.
2/15/2011 3:51:08 PM
^ that is my favorite, too!!!
2/15/2011 3:54:30 PM
It would look awesome on you! My other fav is the trumpeted pavot gown, but that one's 4k, which seems silly to me.
2/15/2011 4:24:52 PM
I really want to incorporate these, or the shapes of these branches into some aspect...http://www.etsy.com/listing/38137726/fabric-leaves-indigo-garden-mix-branchesBut this website has been such a cute source of ideas. The guy designed a clever "icon" of Pixelated Flowers....http://www.cabel.name/2008/10/on-wedding-design.htmlThen, check out these stamps? To go with the theme? A bit much, but what a unique option...Then, my favorite....

Just ordered my dress. So excited PM if you want to see. I know occamsrezr post stalks me
2/15/2011 11:13:49 PM
I'm so excited about this dress y'all!! I was getting depressed trying dresses on at store because I couldn't find anything that wowed me. But this dress takes all the components that I loved and puts them into a single dress! Yay!And it was just within my budget I had set for myself for the dress. I'm hoping because it's custom made I won't even need to get it altered. I had my sewing instructor take all the measurements so they would be accurate
2/16/2011 10:28:59 AM
^hurray!!! im really excited for you!!!so, i meet with tenting people tomorrow.we're gonna make sure we have a tent in case in rains (we both really wanna be outside) and also we're gonna see how big we can conceivably make the place i want clear tents. my mom wants all of them to be air conditioned. (i told her the ceremony one shouldn't matter that much ESPECIALLY since the plan right now is to have it at 8pm, but well see)....thats all we got.
2/16/2011 10:39:31 AM
Yeah I wouldn't bother with air conditioning in the ceremony tent. That's just silly. When's your date again?
2/16/2011 10:50:00 AM
june 11,i told my mom that too, but she doesnt think so
2/16/2011 10:51:48 AM
Yeah you should be fine. Especially if you're doing everything so late. You might even get lucky and catch the tail end of spring temperatures.
2/16/2011 10:55:14 AM
well the other tents will be air conditioned! i'm just talking about the one single tent that we may not even have to use if its raining.the dinner is at 6 and if the guest list is large enough and i need an "add on" tent (which i think will happen), it totally will be AC
2/16/2011 11:00:13 AM
How long do you plan on your ceremony being? We're thinking only 15 minutes. Wham bam now I'm married ma'am! I really hope it doesn't rain since we plan on doing it on the beach.I can't believe it's only 2.5 months away!
2/16/2011 11:02:47 AM
oh we were planning on anout 10 minutes, but since we are having dinner first (at least thats the plan right now) we have to allow enough time for the waitstaff to clean the food out of the reception area so it can be a hardcore party area when we come back in.so we're thinking about 20 minutes ish?[Edited on February 16, 2011 at 11:30 AM. Reason : ^i can only imagine, ill feel you in about 6 weeks! ]
2/16/2011 11:29:47 AM
my friend's brother's wedding invite:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvQxf2QHOPMit's like 8 minutes long and could have been edited shorter, but i give them points for being creative.also if you want to poll skew, they're competing in this: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/02/14/earlyshow/series/main7349155.shtml. They're Daryl and Erica.[Edited on February 16, 2011 at 11:58 AM. Reason : .]

Well while doing errands today I found what I want to use for escort cards in the $1 bin at Target:I'm going to spray paint the pink ones red and the green/yellow ones aqua. Then just attach tags with the names and table number. Super cheap solution to escort cards
2/16/2011 2:17:28 PM
thats so cute!!
2/16/2011 2:31:44 PM
I just realized one can is satin finish and the other is gloss finish Do I care enough to go back and try to find a can of satin finish red? Probably not
2/16/2011 3:03:07 PM
Just found this seed invitation paper...I'm pretty sure that's awesome. I'm getting married- plant a garden. Bring a tomato. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/B0030MUNYI/ref=dp_image_z_0?ie=UTF8&n=284507&s=kitchenone of those links may work?!
2/16/2011 10:35:38 PM
I was seriously tempted to do that seed paper for my invites but in the end I couldn't justify the cost. If you can afford though totally go for it!
2/16/2011 10:59:35 PM
Does anyone have a good florist recommendation in the Raleigh area? That's pretty much the last thing I need to get together (besides the cake). I just need my bouquet and bridesmaids. No centerpieces or anything. The cheaper the better (in price, not quality). Sorry if it's been mentioned before.
2/17/2011 10:49:42 AM
If you're not picky about your flower choices, there's an Asian woman at the farmer's market that makes beautiful bouquets for $15. Other than that most "real" florists are crazy expensive in Raleigh for wedding bouquets I found.[Edited on February 17, 2011 at 6:11 PM. Reason : s]
2/17/2011 6:11:00 PM
^Thanks for the recommendation. Can she do a wedding order or does she just have it available when you stop by? I didn't think about the farmer's market, but that's a good idea. I'll have to stop by and see. I'm really not too picky at all. In fact, I'm doing origami flowers for the centerpieces because I can't fathom spending a ridiculous amount of money on things that will die soon
2/18/2011 10:23:09 AM
And I know this sounds crazy, but I went to piggly wiggly. I got all of our flowers (4 bouquets, 9 flowers for the guys, 8 corsages, and 3 centerpieces) for $250. And they were AMAZING in quality. Seriously, they were incredible.
2/18/2011 10:33:15 AM
what about costco / sam's club flowers?? i dunno if they do bouquets but you can always buy the flowers and do the bouquets yourself if you don't want something super crazy!
