is Barnes going to be #3 RB? i heard somethign about him possibly going to defense?
4/8/2009 9:20:45 AM
nope, Barnes is staying at RB

this is good news...no no, great news....... no no, (lots of expletives) fantastic news. The other day i was thinking; no way we get Crisp, this will be some NC State shit...Donte Moss has a recruiting photo with him wearing an NCState jacket, we are "high" on his list, and he signs with the most evil people in the world who purpotedly believe in and live in a free-market economy. So Crisp (thru his rents) has season tickets to NCState, initially had us as "high" on his list...you can see where my thinking was going as i am sure all seasoned NCState fans were thinking and hoping against hope...so i'm happy. The grumblings in ChapelHole are going to be priceless. Crisp will easily be the number1 in the state and will be a 5* once its all said and done. Him announcing early is just buttah.

Those four are all known for their defense. I think I could get used to playing for defensive powerhouses like that.”he will be heading to LSU though more than likely since its his "dream school"

Saw on the Pack Pride front page that Gabe King (**** DE from Greensboro) has two favorites.I'm guessing state is one of them? We've got to get some quality ends in this year's class.
4/8/2009 1:31:03 PM
^ noKing is either going (way) out of state or to CH unless something big changes. And I'm not sure how bad that is. He's got some character concernsthe big time DEs to look for with us are Alfy Hill, Freshad Hunter and (more of a longshot) Zack McCray
4/8/2009 1:41:43 PM
Bummer. Why does Pack Pride do that? (post a story about a guy that we have no shot with).Oh well. I'd definitely take Alfy Hill. I watched videos on that guy, and he looks straight up nasty. He's got a couple of other D-1 prospects on his team.
4/8/2009 1:49:35 PM
Gabe King, Christian McCain, and Keenan Allen have said that they would like to play together if the situation fit all of them. Neither mentioned us in one of their interviews at that 5* showdown camp or whatever it was called. I know that we are recruiting them, but they all don't seem like they are as interested in us. Allen is supposedly high on Alabama, but the fact that he didn't commit to the Tide during their Junior Day, despite them pushing him to, is a good sign for all of the other schools out there. King seems to like Clemson, Cal, and UNC a lot. I'm not as sure on McCain though since he doesn't quite have as many offers as the other two. I think he supposedly likes Clemson a lot though.
4/8/2009 1:51:26 PM
Hopefully Crisp's early committment will make some other recruits do a double-take.

http://blogs.newsobserver.com/prepsnow/crisp-state-felt-like-homeCrisp: State felt like homeChapel Hill High's Rob Crisp and his brother Pete Singer attended N.C. State's football practice Tuesday and decided it was time to announce what they had known in their hearts for a while. They called Wolfpack coach Tom O'Brien on Tuesday night and told him they were ready to commit to State. "Every time I go there, it feels like home," said Crisp, a 6-foot-8, 316-pound offensive tackle who is the top ranked junior football player in the state. "I feel comfortable there." Singer, a 5-foot-11, 185-pound junior free safety, and Crisp had decided they were going to the same school. They had more than 35 scholarship offers, including ones from each school in the Atlantic Coast Conference. "I like everything about State," said Singer. "It is not too far from home, but not too close. It has one of the best design schools in the country. The academics are really top notch. "But one of the biggest things was that the State coaches always made us feel at home. More than anything else, the feelings we had for the players and coaches was a big factor." Crisp said he knew that coaches at other schools would continue to call. "But I am a man of my word," Crisp said.
4/8/2009 3:09:04 PM
what area of design is singer thinking about studying?
4/8/2009 3:18:44 PM
I've read Architecture

I think I've read that too.

The NCAA should allow five years of eligibility if you're in a five year academic program.
4/8/2009 3:26:24 PM
i'd like to see crisp's full offer list

Feels like 5 years of eligibility for a 5 year degree would be pretty easily exploitable.

^ F$U would have everyone majoring in 6 year programs with 100% graduation rates

4/8/2009 5:27:41 PM
^ how many scholarships does UNC have this year. I know State doesn't have too many. Like 16 or 17 is the projected number. Of course some players like Nate Irving may leave early for the NFL which would open up more spots.
4/8/2009 5:40:55 PM
If this year's class has taught us anything, the answer to that question is, "as many as they need."[Edited on April 8, 2009 at 5:47 PM. Reason : .]
4/8/2009 5:47:26 PM
^^ Doesn't matter. They'll take 30, kick some kids who didn't pan out off the team, and be the 'youngest team in the ACC' for the third straight year....On a serious note, I think its around 15^ beat me to it[Edited on April 8, 2009 at 5:50 PM. Reason : ]
4/8/2009 5:50:25 PM
^^^ I'd say UNC will sign a class of 17 or 18. Could be a couple more if Sturdivant and/or Carter leave early.[Edited on April 8, 2009 at 6:03 PM. Reason : ]
4/8/2009 6:01:44 PM
UNC should have about 10 graduating seniors next year. So 10, plus a couple leaving early for the NFL, plus a couple graduating and leaving, plus a couple getting career-ending injuries, plus a couple getting kicked off, plus a couple extra recruits who aren't going to qualify. That makes it about a full class. And about 5-6 of them will be re-commits/prep schoolers/grayshirts from this year's class.
4/8/2009 6:19:20 PM
Id like to see us going after more bigtime RBs. I think we would be naasty with the OL being put together paired with some top RB talent...
4/8/2009 6:48:31 PM
I think you are going to be pleasantly surprised with how good Brandon Barnes is.
4/8/2009 6:53:31 PM
it's hip to B²
4/8/2009 7:06:44 PM
Eugene and Baker are around for this year... then -yes- the Barnes show begins... but who is spelling him back there? what if he is injury prone?
4/8/2009 7:15:15 PM
Baker may get a 6th year of eligibility which would be great since Eugene will be gone. We also have Curtis Underwood who has gained some experience over the past two years. I really wish we would have redshirted him last year though. James Washington is enrolled and going through Spring practices, so he'll be good to go in the coming years. Morgan Alexander might play RB. Creecy could play either RB or WR. Then we also have Tobais Palmer who after going to JUCO will be that much faster and stronger than he was in HS. He could take a redshirt year here or he could contribute right away if he's ready. RBs usually don't have to have the same time in the program as a lot of other positions in order to contribute right away.
4/8/2009 7:21:19 PM
I've read that Brandon's brother is even a better athlete than Brandon, and he'll likely be considering us in the future.
4/8/2009 7:27:00 PM
Two other O-linemen that I want to get are Logan Stewart, who I think will eventually get a decent amount of offers, and T.J. Leifheit. Now Leifheit though does go to Hoggard High in Wilmington, which seems like a Tar Heel loving school based on my experience with their grads. That could be something that works against us. Remember that both Connor and Casey Barth went there, so that may be one reason why. Leifheit's offer list speaks for itself. Stewart seems like a smart kid and has the frame to add more weight. One evaluation on Stewart
