I don't think $30 is too bad if they do a 50-55 song set like they used to do. Unrelated, Neko Case is playing solo shows at the NC Museum of Art on August 19 and at Knight Theater in Charlotte on August 20.

i have a friend who saw them play for five hours oncehe left after two, came back two later, and they did another hour after that ]

7/16/2010 5:02:40 PM
Love Language killed iti wish every Light Pines song was as good as "Climbing Towards You". They have a lot of songs that do nothing for me but that song is pretty great live
7/18/2010 1:15:04 PM
That show was fantastic. Good seeing ^ and kadwackle other than a group of douche bags who decided to talk and be dicks the entire night...it was great time. the left after 1/2 way through LL after I asked them to. but came back later before the encore
7/18/2010 1:34:50 PM
2nd best $8 show I have seen. They were on point last night, for sure.
7/18/2010 1:43:13 PM
Climbing Towards You I think is pretty awesome on that Drughorse One album. I think I probably prefer it over the live version, but don't have a problem with either. So, I've seen the Light Pines twice, and want to know what the name the first song they usually (apparently) play. I don't think they've recorded it. Oddly enough, I spoke to the lead singer at his day job the other day and he said they were working on an album, so it'll be on there I'm sure. And I agree that some of their songs are just meh. Climbing Towards You is certainly one of their best.
7/18/2010 4:25:56 PM
gunzz, I was just about to post some shit about all the damned talking during shows. People seriously need to shut the fuck up. Lyrics are pretty important in most of these songs, but I always end up standing around near assholes running their fucking mouths the whole time. I'm glad I'm not the only one pissed off at this...

I saw Ariel Pink open for Vivian Girls at 506 a year or so ago. They were pretty terrible. But I like their new album.
7/27/2010 6:34:45 PM
magic kids are opening for ariel pinki like their records a lot, but a lot of that is the spector-style production, and i hear they only tour with 4-5 peoplemeh
7/27/2010 7:25:47 PM
J. Roddy Walston at Slim's on Friday night.I thought Ponderosa were supposed to be on the bill as well, but don't see them listed. Ponderosa alone makes it worth $7.
7/30/2010 1:08:11 AM
j. roddy shows always seem to sneak up on mebut i got no plans tomorrow, so hell yeah
7/30/2010 3:29:28 AM
i think imma go see Noveller make some noise on aug 12.i accidentally slept through ariel pink, god dammit.
7/30/2010 3:34:12 AM
so, for clarity, J. Roddy is tonight, Friday the 30th for $7Ponderosa are playing a separate show there on Saturday night, and I think it's free. Both shows, ftw.[Edited on July 30, 2010 at 10:26 AM. Reason : .]

oh man, j roddy walston is great.also, i was at that ariel pink show. vivian girls opened and i remember that because i peaced out after their set.
7/30/2010 10:37:17 AM
I was at Lincoln on Wednesday. Streetlight Manifesto was amazing. The Wonder Years were extremely poppy punk...sounded like New Found Glory, wasn't a big fan. Dan Potthast was entertaining, I remember him from the MU330 days.
7/30/2010 11:25:10 AM
^^oh, yeah, you're right, vivian girls did open. i remember now, we just stuck around for a few songs of ariel pink and left because they were really bad.anybody see their show last night? was it better this time around?

just saw arcade fire / spoondisappointingly short set from afbut overall pretty impressed at how their set translated to an amphitheaterspoon, not so muchwhich sucks because i really like spoon.
8/3/2010 12:09:44 AM
the walkmen outperformed spoon in a small club when i saw them in lauderdale a while back
8/3/2010 2:30:27 AM
^^short as in?
8/3/2010 4:57:05 PM
8/3/2010 5:17:24 PM
^19 songs - that's a fairly robust set list if you ask me. don't know if you could ask for much longer than that, especially since they are playing amphitheaters this time around.and really a jay reatard cover? wouldn't have expected that out of AF."empty room" and "half light II" are about the only tracks from the suburbs that they didn't play at your show that i hope they play friday.
8/3/2010 5:35:35 PM
8/3/2010 7:45:24 PM
