To the guy in Cup of Joe this morning, unless you are making a movie you might want to take your D70 off sport. Your shutter rate is obnoxious.

K, so I think I'm going to upgrade to a Rebel XTi sometime soon. I'd like to find a kit for less than $600 which has been offered a few times in the last few months. That way I can swap the kit lens onto my current camera (Rebel 300d) and sell it for a few hundred bucks at least.[Edited on January 11, 2008 at 1:41 PM. Reason : l]

Question - when using your tripod and with like a low ISO 100, is there a technique in taking a shot or do you use the timer or a remote?
1/30/2008 3:43:31 PM
I've got a Canon mount, Sigma 8mm f/4 EX Circular Fisheye for sale, $450.^Use the self-timer or remote, pressing it like normal will shake the camera.
1/30/2008 4:47:59 PM
^ Is that the lens designed for APS sized sensors?
1/30/2008 5:24:40 PM
No, it's designed for full frame 35mm sensors, but it will still work on 1.6x crop DSLRs. It won't make full-circle images, instead it'll make images that look like this:Or you can crop the image so the black vignetting is cropped out:[Edited on January 30, 2008 at 5:56 PM. I've also seen the bolts epoxied to old folding fiberglass tent support rods for a fairly rigid rest.

1/31/2008 8:46:34 PM
seeing as ive only been shooting DSLR for about a month now, im pretty happy with this shot...just wish i had gotten the focus a bit better.so, anyone got hints on how to get the perfect focus for small objects within the viewfinder, or do you pretty much take a shitload of pics while manually zooming in tiny increments?
1/31/2008 11:26:34 PM
That last location is in Greensboro by the railroad yard
2/1/2008 2:37:51 PM
While getting things in focus is important, you may want to also try and think about some type of composition.
2/1/2008 7:44:30 PM
^^^ I think you would be happier with that picture if you closed your apeture down a stop to increase your depth of field. I don't think the focus is that bad. For a scene like that, manual focus is a must.

Two topics for discussion:1. What do you guys know about selling stock photos? Anyone here into it? What do you use/recommend for indoor lighting? Noise reduction software?2. I think I have dust inside one of my lenses. I can see little specs on the inside of the front piece of glass (the piece furthest from the camera body.) Can the lens be taken apart and cleaned? Does this happen from using the camera in dirty environments because I know I have always been hella careful when switching lenses.

skack... don't take apart your lens. it would have to be a hell of a lot of dust to affect your picture quality. unless you see something fairly large in there you should be ok. and i wouldnt recommend taking a lens apart. they arent' too easy to put back together.... trust me... stock photography, i havent' jumped into that. still debating on it. you can basically google it and come up with some good sites. i think Istock photo is one of the biggest
