It hasn't been an "origin" story for the past few seasons. Lex and Jimmy Olson are both DEAD. Lex is supposed to be Superman's rival. How's that going to happen if he's dead?
2/20/2010 2:44:31 PM
The Jimmy Olson that Chloe was married to isn't the Jimmy Olson of the comic books (his brother is) and they hinted a few episodes ago that Lex wasn't actually dead.
2/20/2010 2:57:07 PM
Lex isn't dead and neither is the "real" Jimmy. There was a scene at his funeral where a young kid was given his camera hinting that he was the Jimmy Olsen from the comics, they might have even called him Jimmy or James, I can't remember. There have also been hints that Lex is still alive and that the explosion in the trailer didn't contain the real Lex. That story arc was created because the actor left the show.As far as the origin part, from the beginning it was called a kind of "reimagining" of the years leading up to the time he became Superman, since it was never explored in detail in the comics. The main rule they had in the beginning was "no tights, no flights." They didn't want to get to where he actually becomes Superman. But Clark meeting Lex, Lois, Zod, heck even Perry White didn't occur until after he became Superman from my understanding. Call it an alternate reality if you want, it's really no different to what other creative liberties are being taken with superhero movies these days (and Star Trek). What I don't get is why hasn't another mainstream superhero gotten his own show by now? Smallville is in its 9th season and seems poised for a 10th. The only thing I can think of is it's either a $$ issue or getting ahold of the rights.

i thought this season was the last season [Edited on February 20, 2010 at 3:08 PM. Reason : maybe the last season is him being superman ]
2/20/2010 3:07:51 PM
There was an article in Entertainment Weekly not too long ago in which the producers said they had every intention of making a 10th season and that if CW wanted them cancelled, they'd go down fighting.
2/20/2010 3:11:20 PM
^^^they did pilots for both aquaman and green arrow, neither of which where picked upthe ending for this past episode was dumb...how does a building in the middle of the country's second biggest fake city (Gotham being first) blow up and not hurt innocent people?i also hate gimmick holiday episodes (the halloween vampire and zombie episodes especially). at least this one had season plot development to it, but it was still a dumb idea.[Edited on February 22, 2010 at 1:35 AM. Except that its the superhero who is blowing up the building. There were clearly giant chunks of the tower falling down into the city while Clark stood there and watched.
2/22/2010 10:33:28 AM
And if anyone were in danger he could've sped in and saved them like he always does.
2/22/2010 11:07:04 AM
SUPERMAN WAS BEHIND 9/11!
2/22/2010 2:32:11 PM
as soon as Clark brought Zod back to life it was really predictable Zod would have powers now
2/28/2010 1:28:26 AM
yeah, as soon as you saw he was going to use his blood it was obvious. still it was cool to see him fly away. but, can zod now do the same for the other candorians or does it have to be clark's blood?
2/28/2010 1:59:08 AM
I would expect it has to be clark's blood. Probably some condition that Jor'El put on them or something
2/28/2010 11:49:39 AM
Season 10 is a go.http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2010/03/04/this-just-in-the-cw-renews-smallville/
3/4/2010 10:38:37 PM
SWEET!!! I just can't stop watching this show
3/4/2010 11:32:30 PM
^ Me too, but I want it to end.
3/4/2010 11:48:13 PM
^not until michael rosenbaum comes back and they get closure with clark and lex
3/4/2010 11:55:52 PM
^ i second that
3/5/2010 7:42:51 AM
Season 10? Wow, I thought they would end it out. I am glad they brought it back so they can wrap some things up, but damn....be nice to have it done. Lex needs to be back. More Green Arrow & Legion. Less Chloe!!! III
4/1/2010 7:48:39 PM
this episode is imo the best in a long time. i loved the awkward talk between clark and oliver at brunch, and then the sex talk with clark and chloe towards the end. not much action in this one, but great script and great acting.
4/3/2010 1:59:48 AM
yeah the whole ghost plot sucked but a lot of funny, quirky dialogues that I enjoyed in this one
4/5/2010 3:33:57 PM
Great episode tonight! It had a little bit of everything that still makes this show interesting.
4/9/2010 9:09:57 PM
wheres batmanwhos manhunter working fori like tess
4/9/2010 10:04:35 PM
hasn't been introducedapparently a different queentess sucks, glad she'll be under the radar for at least a bit.
4/11/2010 2:29:30 PM
I hope for a cliffhanger at the end of this season, in the very last scene someone is speaking to somebody in the shadows. Then as the person steps out of the shadows you see it's Lex and he says some cheesy line like "It's good to be back. Now lets get to work." They really need to bring Rosenbaum's character back before they end the show.
4/11/2010 6:56:20 PM
What the fuck? This show still exists?
4/11/2010 6:58:16 PM
Yes, and it has already been picked up for a 10th season! After the CW moved it from Thursdays to Fridays this season, the ratings shot up! Wouldn't expect that for a Friday show, that's usually where they go to die. But in one demographic ratings for the show were up like 200% from last year. Boggles the mind...
4/11/2010 7:00:25 PM
So I think maybe 2 people in the entire world didn't see that one coming
5/8/2010 3:32:16 PM
i'm just glad someone else is still watching, this thread started to die and I was worried I was the only one
5/9/2010 11:19:23 AM
Sadly, I still watch praying that every episode brings this series one step closer to ending. This whole Kandorian arc with everyone back stabbing each other is tiresome. [Edited on May 9, 2010 at 11:33 AM. Reason : a]
5/9/2010 11:32:43 AM
agreed, they would be fine doing half seasons so they didn't have to drag out so many storylines
5/9/2010 11:35:42 AM
i still watch, just cuz i like superman, and comics and shit
5/9/2010 11:59:21 AM
Was Maxwell Lord ever the black king in the comics? I don't recall...but obviously the thing with Martha Kent is a new creation[Edited on May 9, 2010 at 1:34 PM. Reason : -]
5/9/2010 1:34:42 PM
I loved the return of Perry White. I always wondered, and hoped, that they would bring him back
5/9/2010 11:26:42 PM
This whole new look on Perry White and Martha King had me like WTF. I kind of like Martha as the Red Queen...but still feels weired.Any guesses on how Season Finale goes? I mean they already had Clark in the Phantom Zone... Maybe Chloe dies? III
5/10/2010 8:04:50 AM
chloe has to die before the series ends, might as well do it now
5/10/2010 12:13:31 PM
Would not mind if this was her time to go. Just as she is getting "close" to Green Arrow, it would be an added pleasantry to see her go bye bye permanately (should have taken her, rather than Jimmy) III
5/10/2010 12:37:59 PM
^I disagree, Chloe had to suffer for all the mistakes she made. Watching a loved one die is a much worse punishment than dying yourself. Jimmy had already been through so much, why make him watch Chloe die? I'm glad he doesn't have to deal with her shit anymore.
5/12/2010 3:48:10 AM
I think he meant Jimmy was a more enjoyable character to watch than chloe... and I agree
5/12/2010 9:06:04 AM
5/12/2010 10:18:32 AM
The real Jimmy isn't dead. They eluded to that at his funeral when they passed his camera on to a little boy named Jimmy. As for the season finale, they are gearing up for something huge. This Hollywood insider I follow on Twitter (and he has a column in Entertainment Weekly) posted a link to a pic with the notation "major spoiler alert, prepare to have your jaw drop". So take whatever meaning you want from that. I didn't want to click on it heh. There was another pic of Clark in EW running Lois out of a burning house with the note "Lois dead?" Which, I think, there was nothing to but again I didn't want to read the article.

Is your source Ausiello? They post his spoilers here all the time, I find out about things months in advance:http://www.kryptonsite.com/smallvillespoilers.htm

5/12/2010 11:07:31 PM
Here's the link to the spoiler photo I mentioned before. I actually checked it out and wouldn't really consider it a "spoiler" given the way the writers take this show. Still, click at your own risk.http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2010/05/05/smallville-finale-spoiler-lois-clark/
5/13/2010 12:39:28 AM
that was probably my favorite season finale to date
5/14/2010 10:07:51 PM
Very good Season Finale, alot of damn commercials...but I thought it was well played. Who was the old woman knitting in hospital with Tess M. dying?Any thoughts on who caught G. Arrow? To bad they could not get flash & aquaman at least other heroes III
