Can't believe the Pack got left out. Boo, what are you doing
12/3/2023 12:28:27 PM
Acc is 5-3 vs SEC. FSU is 2-0 vs SEC
12/3/2023 12:29:15 PM
Lol can't wait for FSU to beat UGA or whoever they play in the orange bowl then claim a national championship.
12/3/2023 12:29:20 PM
Btw I'm STARTING to think jt3 talks....out....of....his.....ass??
12/3/2023 12:30:17 PM
Holy shit what a joke. What’s the point of the playoff if FSU doesn’t get a shot to to play in it. Lol
12/3/2023 12:30:37 PM
Herbstreit looks hungoverAlso Boo Corrigan
12/3/2023 12:31:25 PM
What’s the point of the committee if FSU gets in?Also def end of the ACC - FSU paying anything to leave now. Although they were anyway just speeds that up.
12/3/2023 12:33:19 PM
Friendly reminder: the college football playoff is neither an actual playoff nor an ncaa sanctioned championship. It is an invitational tournament put on for TV ratings.
12/3/2023 12:37:04 PM
^^ we talked about it last night and clearly you and I just don’t agree. But the games have to matter. Why play games if FSU can’t get in? Just do power ratings and let Vegas decide. FSU won every game. Bama needed a miracle to beat shitty Auburn. Bama played like doo doo vs USF. Shouldn’t that be held against them too?[Edited on December 3, 2023 at 12:38 PM. Reason : A]
12/3/2023 12:38:31 PM
If only the last few games matter why play the other onesGeorgia struggled vs GT why were they still #1? [Edited on December 3, 2023 at 12:40 PM. Reason : E]
12/3/2023 12:40:07 PM
FSU’s defense sure as hell looked playoff worthy last night. Michigan’s offense averaged slightly less yards per play than FSU did last night and Michigan had their starting QB!I don’t even like FSU but this really is a total sham.
12/3/2023 12:42:07 PM
Did Boo screw FSU because of FSU's threats to leave the conference? Ancient astronaut theorists say yes
12/3/2023 12:43:28 PM
Oh yea i forgot Michigan cheated
12/3/2023 12:46:39 PM
I think Michigan FSU would’ve been a pretty awesome game.
12/3/2023 12:50:08 PM
12/3/2023 12:51:53 PM
Unserious body? Sure. But I don’t agree this is what we (the fans) signed up for. The dumb and silly parts of college football are things like converting a 4th and 31 to beat your rival. Not a buncha ADs in a board room deciding that an undefeated P5 champ isn’t playoff worthy because of an injury.
12/3/2023 12:55:34 PM
FSU got fuckedMaybe it's karma for how they did Bowden
12/3/2023 12:57:47 PM
UGa should be ahead of fsu if we’re just power ranking these teams, right?
12/3/2023 12:58:53 PM
Florida’s dirty hit on Rodemaker likely kept Bama in the hunt
12/3/2023 1:16:39 PM
i mean no because Rodemaker will in all likelihood be back for a bowl game]
12/3/2023 1:19:03 PM
This was always likely to happen with 4 playoff spots and 5 power conferences. The CFP banked on st least one conferences having a down year, and it didn't play out this year. The Big11 and the SEC pretty much have reserved spots each year, barring anything insane. It's always been a 3way battle for the last two spots. There was no way Bama was getting left out. And if they got in, Texas had to get in. Washington had a legit good year, so FSU is screwed.Sure Michigan should have been dq-ed earlier in the year for having a staff member on the sidelines of another team, but that just puts tOSU in.I hope FSU blows out UGA, Mich blows out Bama, and FSU claims a natty, just for spite[Edited on December 3, 2023 at 1:39 PM. Reason : ]
12/3/2023 1:38:18 PM
Nah it's better if Texas/Bama wins the playoff and FSU wins their bowl leaving them the only undefeated (fuck liberty)
12/3/2023 1:44:43 PM
You and I need to stop agreeing on shit.
12/3/2023 1:47:23 PM
5 conferences for 4 spots was going to happen they are lucky made it this far in current system that didn’t sooner. People that run this sport have no clue.
12/3/2023 2:20:40 PM
I don't think the potential demise of the ACC has anything to do with them getting left out. If it did, why would Washington get in? Their conference is in worse shape than ours.
12/3/2023 2:45:44 PM
Yeah 4 teams was always a dumb number. 2 is better than 4 imo. But a larger playoff will be better. Somebody was always gonna get screwed this year. It just seems like this ranking screws FSU more than an alternate ranking would’ve screwed Bama or even Texas. I think the committee chose the harder to defend position. Which is an odd choice. Felt like the easiest to defend position was Bama out, FSU and Texas in. FSU beat fully healthy LSU by 21 on a neutral field. Bama beat an LSU with a depleted secondary by 14 at Alabama. Call it a wash if you want but FSUs result is objectively more impressive even if it’s a negligible difference. FSU looked like shit at Pitt but still won by 17. Bama looked like shit vs Ark at home, won by 3. I guess you can call that a wash? FSU dominated BC for 3 quarters but BC stormed back and made it close. Bama looked like shit vs Auburn and needed a miracle. Can we call that a wash? Bama looked bad against USF. Not sure what to compare that result to for FSU. FSU played a 1 possession game against Miami. Bama played a one possession game against TAMU (who Miami smashed). I get that Bama is hard to keep out with a win over UGa. But it feels criminal to leave FSU out. Their QB gets hurt and they win their next 2 games (1 vs a top 15 Louisville team, the on the road vs a mediocre SEC team) by 2 possessions each. I don’t see the flaw in FSUs resume. They were doomed the second Travis got hurt. Nothing else mattered. How fucking stupid. Maybe comparing FSU’s resume to Texas is what I should’ve done. I hate FSU but they got so fucked.
12/3/2023 2:47:51 PM
Maybe it'll be figured out in a few minutes, been seeing the bowl game matchups and have yet to see an ACC team involved..something going on..?
12/3/2023 3:09:51 PM
Also, we’re never gonna win a national title in football. We just don’t swim in those waters. But if a 13-0 FSU can’t make a 4 team playoff then a 10-2 NC State probably has no hope of ever making a 12 team playoff. Thats kinda fucked up. Gonna be real fun to watch 8 and 9 win SEC and B1G teams get in over 10 win ACC teams (We’ll probably never go 10-2 but still)
12/3/2023 3:12:15 PM
On one hand, i want UNC to get murdered in the bowl game. On the other, i want to see them commit elder abuse by dumping mayonnaise on Mack.
12/3/2023 6:42:37 PM
The second Travis got hurt, ESPN started the narrative that FSU is not good, that they were a one player team. The problem really comes back to TCU last year. They won the Big 12 had a great year, snuck by Michigan, then proceeded to get boatraced in the first 10 minutes of the national title game. Which of course led to ratings droppng across the country because the neutral and casual fan will not watch a blowout. The team that was kept out last year was a two loss Alabama that because of those two losses didn't play in the SEC title game as LSU held the tiebreaker. The committee's reasoning was needed to win the conference title game to make it. Since Georgia's defense shut the bed on Saturday they were in. I am sick of the narrative that its supposed to be the 4 best teams, thats not even remotely true because if it was the 4 best teams it would have been Michigan, Ohio State, Georgia and Alabama. I kind of want FSU to skip the Orange Bowl, just not show up at all, that would be hilarious, I would also love to see Mike Norvell in a room with Kirk Herbstreit for 5 minutes to see what happens.
12/4/2023 8:18:32 AM
Has there been a year when there wasn’t a blowout in one of the 3 CFP games? Also. I don’t think fsu/michigan would be a blowout. FSUs defense looked elite. Plus they’d have Rodemaker back which does improve their O from what it was on Saturday. Michigan would almost definitely win and would probably be favored by a TD. But that would project as a close low scoring game even without Travis. But yes. The committee made up their mind when Travis was hurt.
12/4/2023 8:40:12 AM
FSU got fucked, and I'm fairly confident some of the motivation (to put Bama in) is that the committee really really really didn't want to exclude the SEC.
12/4/2023 9:00:20 AM
It’s all about perception. And the SEC does a great job of self promoting (with ESPN’s help of course). We just assume the SEC is the best conference even when on field results this year don’t necessarily make that super obvious.
12/4/2023 9:07:59 AM
As a lifelong FSU fan, this is way worse than if they'd just flat-out lost to Louisville. There are so many stats to back up their case for being the playoffs, plus the 2nd-string QB will be back soon... this is just unfair as heck.I'm not gonna watch the playoffs at all, and don't plan on ever paying ESPN another penny. This is lame as hell.

I wish I could find the graphic again but as soon as ESPN showed their list of bullet points considered by the CFP selection board I knew it was over for FSU. There were 2 or 3 refined points that read "margin of victory," "strength of record," and "resume," and a fourth that was some obviously-tacked-on "completeness of coaching staff and/or roster for the foreseeable future and yes ofc this was always a rule why do you ask."

On one hand I don’t want Alabama to beat Michigan because it’ll serve as justification for FSU being left out…”see they got it right!”, as if that’s the point. But on the other hand it would be undeniably hilarious for Michigan to be 0-3 all time in the playoff. Maybe we’ll start asking questions about how good the B1G actually is. But probably not.And I know I keep beating a dead horse about fsu. But if the argument is “they aren’t the same team without Travis”, don’t you think a team with a loaded defense, good coaches, a good RB, and a couple of legit WRs could maybe scheme something up in the next 3-4 weeks? Like, it just totally rules out the possibility of coaches and players improving or learning or growing. Ok. I think I’m done bitching about it for a while. [Edited on December 4, 2023 at 4:04 PM. Maybe they kept saying his first name and he got really scared and shrunk down like the Fonz in The Waterboy and let SEC walk all over him
12/4/2023 5:40:03 PM
If it was supposed to be the 4 best teams, is Georgia not one of the 4 best teams in the country? Would Georgia not beat Washington on a neutral field?
12/4/2023 5:42:51 PM
Hell, you put NC State against UGA and we win that game 9 times out of 10...why are we not in the playoffs?
12/4/2023 6:48:53 PM
B1G was 6-8 OOC vs p5 - which includes the tOSU win v NDThey played no SEC teamsMichigan played no p5 OOC
12/4/2023 9:10:48 PM
This would have been so much easier if GA and TX went undefeated
12/4/2023 9:20:39 PM
Why, so they could have been left out as well?]
12/4/2023 9:36:45 PM
No cause it would be tx, ga, washington, and michigan
12/4/2023 9:57:22 PM
No it would be Michigan, Washington, Ohio State and Oregon
12/4/2023 10:51:47 PM
I'm pulling for WASH then MICH. i cant imagine how insufferable bama fans(and the Jaybee types) will be if they win. fuck texas.
