I don't either, and he seems like someone you'd bring in to groom behind another year of Bridgewater rather than throwing him right into the fire. But, and I know this is FCS football, in his one full year before the pandemic shut everything down, he threw 28 TD, 0 INT, and rushed for 1100 yards and 14 more TD. He is clearly a talented football player, but I don't know how his game would translate to the NFL. But some of the experts seem to love him.
1/5/2021 11:02:01 AM
yeah i could definitely come around on Lance. his stats from 2019 look insane. aside from QB, i think TE and WR are areas of need. especially for red zone targets. Curtis Samuel is a free agent and with his last few games, he might've played himself into a bigger contract than the panthers are willing to pay. and Robby Anderson had a great year, but he's still more of a speed guy than a big red zone target. DJ Moore was also really good this year, but also not a big red zone target
1/5/2021 11:47:37 AM
and Ian Thomas has never really developed like we'd like. He just kind of catches passes and falls down.
1/5/2021 11:59:54 AM
Dwayne Haskins is paying a visit.
1/9/2021 11:18:00 AM
Are the Panthers going to take the title of worst run franchise in Charlotte from the Hornets? Because signing Haskins is a good step towards that goal.
1/9/2021 11:33:55 AM
Haskins sucks but also it’s not like he’s gonna be expensive to sign so it’s not that big of a deal. But it does indeed feel like a total waste
1/9/2021 12:03:28 PM
If he's on the 53 man roster next season, it's a waste.
1/9/2021 12:48:22 PM
Haskins is worse than PJ Walker and brings unwanted attention.Trade Teddy, Samuel, and a first for Deshaun.
1/9/2021 12:55:09 PM
gonna take way more than that to get Watsonlike multiple 1sts and CMC
1/9/2021 1:36:37 PM
I don't think we'll get Watson. But for argument's sake, CMC is a great player and all, but Houston would be paying a lot of money to the running back position with him and David Johnson.
1/9/2021 1:39:55 PM
We won’t get Watson anyways. But it’ll take a lot more than ^^^. And TT has a good point. With CMC’s contract, he’s a little harder to trade even if we did want to.
1/9/2021 2:23:45 PM
Texans just signed Watson to a megadeal, they aren’t trading him. The cap penalty would be ENORMOUS
1/9/2021 10:19:39 PM
Trade CMC, Teddy and our next two first rounders for Watson. I’d be more than happy to roll with him, DJ, Robby, Mike Davis on offense. And I love CMC

from Bill Barnwell:
1/27/2021 12:26:43 PM
I think you only make that trade if you really think we’re just a QB away from contending. Watson is great. But are we really just a QB away?
1/27/2021 12:57:18 PM
In a division where everyone is going to have to replace their qbs in the next year or two, I would absolutely strike first and get your guy. If you can get Watson after being just extended I would do it.
1/28/2021 9:27:21 AM
a QB as young and talented as Watson being available is unprecedented, which is why you have to do whatever you can to get himhe’s under contract, too
1/28/2021 10:12:34 AM
Just playing devils advocate, because I would love to have Watson on the Panthers. But, if you give up 3 or more future 1st round picks for Watson...can we still build a contender around him? If the answer is yes then im all for it.

unless he'd rather live in New York or Miami. it's not necessarily up to Tepper.
1/28/2021 7:38:27 PM
is he a free agent?
1/28/2021 7:43:44 PM
he has a no trade clause, not sure what teams are on it, but he has plenty of say in which team he goes to
1/28/2021 8:28:42 PM
it’s safe to assume that he’ll wave his no trade clause to get out of the situation that he is very publicly trying to get out of[Edited on January 28, 2021 at 8:39 PM. Reason : .]
1/28/2021 8:33:26 PM
Its fair to assume he’d rather be in houston than carolina
1/28/2021 8:37:05 PM
Tepper can't offer the 2nd overall pick in this year's draft
1/28/2021 9:33:56 PM
he can let his GM know that he’s willing to offer more than just the 2nd overall pick/more than the Jets are willing to offer[Edited on January 28, 2021 at 9:50 PM. Reason : including a starting QB who is better than Darnold/an unproven rookie]
1/28/2021 9:48:55 PM
FWIW, Barnwell has the Panthers as the 2nd best trade option for the Texans, while having the Jets 7th

Reason : .]
1/28/2021 10:50:35 PM
don’t believe I ever claimed it was a lockjust that if Tepper wants to offer a package that far exceeds a package that any other team would offer, the Texans would more than likely take itWatson’s preferences don’t really matter at all
1/29/2021 12:25:44 AM
you said if Tepper wants him, he'll be a Panther. Tepper would obviously want him on the team, so you're effectively saying he will be a Panther.
1/29/2021 12:45:14 AM
Panthers: have need at OGAlso Panthers: sign the worst starting OG in the league as a free agent
3/15/2021 12:52:56 PM
No thanks to Watson
3/25/2021 10:31:36 AM
Deshaun Watson: "Stop the count!!!"
3/25/2021 10:36:38 AM
49ers traded up to 3rd
3/26/2021 1:22:09 PM
Cool i hope they take a qb.The only non-trevor lawrence 1st rounder that moves the needle for me is Kyle Pitts. Kid has more potential than anyone in this class, lawrence included. If I'm trading up for anyone in this draft, it's him.I have this sinking feeling that the Panthers skipping Mac Jones's pro day was some shitty gamesmanship and they're gonna draft him. ]
3/26/2021 2:42:52 PM
I don't want bum ass Teddy Bridgewater throwing it to him though
3/26/2021 2:44:17 PM
BETTER THAN BUM ASS MAC JONES OR TREY LANCE OR WHOEVER
3/26/2021 2:53:54 PM
not really[Edited on March 26, 2021 at 2:58 PM. Reason : i don't want Mac Jones]
3/26/2021 2:56:55 PM
I’d love Kyle Pitts.
3/26/2021 3:37:18 PM
he’s great, but who was the last can’t-miss TE that was drafted high and lived up to the hype?I say that realizing that none of that matters if he lives up to the hype[Edited on March 26, 2021 at 4:46 PM. Reason : I was burned by OJ Howard ]
3/26/2021 4:45:48 PM
i really like the idea of a bigger red zone target. panthers have a lot of speed with Moore, Anderson, CMC...but lack the bigger target.but yeah, there's plenty of needs on this roster.hockenson was taken 8th in 2019 and he's been pretty good, i think...but has had injuries[Edited on March 26, 2021 at 6:27 PM. Reason : g]
3/26/2021 6:26:46 PM
Yeah oj howard got drafted based on 1 college game and the combine.I just think if the choice is between pitts and any non-trevor lawrence qb, I'm taking pitts every single time. He was the highest graded pass-catcher (not just TEs) in 2020 according to PFF. And also graded out as an above average blocker. The guy is just a monster.]
3/26/2021 7:27:16 PM
Darnold lol And to give up more than token picks for that
4/5/2021 4:09:23 PM
My initial thought is that this is terrible. But it's less terrible then taking anytime not named trevor lawrence in the top 10 of this draft (except maybe fields.) This move gives them competition at qb and frees them to take BPA in the draft. After the Watson stuff, there was no real path to a clear upgrade at QB.]
4/5/2021 4:27:58 PM
6th round this year (compensatory) and 2nd and 4th next year. I'm not mad. Sounds like the Panthers didn't like any of the rookie qbs other than Lawrence or Wilson.
4/5/2021 4:28:57 PM
Yeah Draft is a crapshoot, and if you got Darnold for say a 4th rounder and a six rounder then great, it's worth that to take a chance and see what happens, maybe you get a tannehil situation which is livable. But that's a lot to give up for a suspect player like that with the 2nd and the other picks.[Edited on April 5, 2021 at 4:31 PM. Reason : 2nd rounder puts it over into bad for me.]
4/5/2021 4:30:10 PM
Hopefully 4 or 5 qbs go in front of them and Kyle Pitts falls to them. He is my 100% can't miss draft prospect lock of the century.
4/5/2021 4:32:25 PM
i don't love this but i don't hate it. i'm not sure i even understand the rationale.it's mostly just boring and uninspiring imo. but whatever. on paper, giving up a 2nd, 4th, and 6th for a guy that was a top 5 pick 3 years ago feels like a worthy gamble. but on other hand, it kinda feels like overpaying when we already have a mediocre QB that can serve as a placeholder until we can find that QB of the future.unless Darnold shows major improvement, this still doesn't solve the long term QB issue. but maybe i'm giving up on him too quickly? i admittedly didn't watch much of him in NYJ. i'm guessing we'll move Teddy now...but doubt we can get much in return.[Edited on April 5, 2021 at 5:28 PM. Reason : i am looking forward to not drafting a QB in the first round, though]thought about it some more.why trade for a qb that might not even be better than Teddy? i guess we're betting on Rhule and Brady being able to unlock Darnold's potential. but damn...kinda wild to think we might be heading into 2021 with a downgrade in QB from 2020.[Edited on April 5, 2021 at 5:33 PM.
