Yeah it probably just boils down to what sports you enjoy.
5/20/2019 8:07:27 PM
I love football, I just don’t love watching it in person as much as I do the other 3 major sports
5/20/2019 8:57:38 PM
Wait baseball basketball and.....?
5/21/2019 6:52:39 AM
Olympic Curling.
5/21/2019 10:06:21 AM
I mean based on the complaining about some heat and sun in this thread, I'd guess the 3rd major sport is "Competitive Drinking".
5/21/2019 10:17:33 AM
I’d assume he means hockey
5/21/2019 10:27:27 AM
5/21/2019 10:35:05 AM
5/21/2019 10:52:14 AM
I don't think hockey qualifies as a major sport, it's in the 2nd tier with soccer and golf. Or I guess really 3rd tier since football is probably alone in tier 1.
5/21/2019 11:13:09 AM
golf is the same tier of sport as auto racing. its only use is as white noise in the background while i take a sunday afternoon nap.which is still a rung above soccer, which is just the worst sport to watch on tv or especially in person.]
5/22/2019 7:46:52 PM
^ I concur]
5/22/2019 8:18:24 PM
I don't know why I posted that bc I don't want to argue, but I wasn't ranking watchability, I was ranking American popularity. Seems like that defines a "major sport" imo.
5/22/2019 9:21:27 PM
or we could do it by payroll. NHL teams have a salary cap of ~$80 million. MLS teams have a cap of ~$4 million. those numbers don't seem very comparable. The NHL is clearly behind MLB/NFL/NBA in terms of value in this regard but still waaaaaaaaaay ahead of MLS when it comes to North American sports leagues.
5/22/2019 10:02:26 PM
Well, MLS is far from the biggest soccer league in the world by any metric.[Edited on May 22, 2019 at 10:15 PM. Reason : But it's all equally boring to watch ]
5/22/2019 10:14:41 PM
NFL/NBA/MLB/NHL are considered the 4 major sports/leaguesi think golf is the worst to watch in person, objectively. what other sport does the action immediately travel hundreds of yards away from your perspective[Edited on May 23, 2019 at 1:31 AM. Reason : .]
5/23/2019 1:26:56 AM
I don't know why anyone even brought up pro leagues, the discussion is about the sport in general. Almost every HS in America has a football, baseball and basketball team, how many have hockey? Same for college. Smaller colleges often don't have football bc of numbers, but I don't think anyone would argue that football is #1.I don't really care where you put soccer and golf. And if you want to call hockey "major", that can mean whatever you want I guess. But hockey is, at best, a distant fourth.[Edited on May 23, 2019 at 7:48 AM. Reason : And that opinion is anything but objective ]
5/23/2019 7:45:47 AM
I apologize for being the that started this whole conversation with my “going to football games isn’t as enjoyable for me anymore” opinion. I’m very very sorry that I started this whole business.
5/23/2019 8:14:20 AM
I enjoy going to the games and tailgating. I enjoy watching the first half and then going to the parking lot to continue to tailgate.
5/23/2019 8:23:43 AM
^^lol tbf I blame TGL3. that said I will remove myself bc even though I started the argument I find it annoying too.
5/23/2019 8:42:32 AM
^ man I was reading this page thinking “Jesus what idiot started this whole conversation” and then I realized I was one of the people that started it.
5/23/2019 9:02:30 AM
I love tailgating, but I think football is better on tv.
5/23/2019 10:57:39 AM
^this guy gets it.
5/23/2019 11:29:33 AM
Of course hockey will have less participation at the high school level. It has more barriers to participation than almost any other sport. You need ice.And I mentioned MLS because we were talking about American sports. Not European leagues. If soccer was really a major sport in the US, MLS wouldn't struggle as much as they do.
5/23/2019 1:12:41 PM
Damnit i said I wouldn't argue but MLS struggles bc it's a 10th tier league. The g league, minor league baseball, ans these startup pro leagues struggle too. And yes hockey has a barrier to entry but that also results in less exposure and fewer fans.
5/23/2019 2:13:49 PM
noon games suck. games against direction U (any sport) suck worse. I have 2 days each week that aren't mandated full 16 hour days. I like to use them wisely. Non-compelling football games aren't worth it.
5/23/2019 2:32:43 PM
You work 80 hours a week?

^^The baffling program part was really stupid, though. We've had some names, but so has almost everyone else. We've achieved at the level of our overall talent for the past 30 years or so, with perhaps an outlier here and there. We killed it in 2003 on the recruiting trail....Rivals' 7th best class..but it's the only time we have even been in the top 20. [Edited on May 30, 2019 at 11:01 AM. Reason : add another note]
5/30/2019 10:53:02 AM
^I get what he is pointing out, but agree that it's unnecessary and is useless in this type of article. Can you really find a CFB team that has produced so many NFL stars, particularly at QB, in the last 20 years that doesn't have a conference title and only 1 double-digit winning season? I think it's a stupid metric, but it's definitely an anomaly for a non-powerhouse football program to produce so many NFL QBs in the last 20 years. The more important aspect is that Doeren continues to churn out good/productive NFL players and teams/schools/recruits have taken notice. Doubt we produce another 4-5 guys this year, but if Doeren can continue to develop and get guys into the league, our recruiting should continue to improve.
5/30/2019 11:09:50 AM
Good point but it's really on 2 qbs. Wilson and Rivers. I mean TJ Yates is the NFL equal of Glennon and Jacoby...and UNC isn't parading him around as a notch on their belt. The jury is still out on Finley but who doesn't expect a clipboard in his future? Not knocking it, it's still an accomplishment. Not buying the underachieving narrative in football. [Edited on May 30, 2019 at 11:28 AM. Reason : add another note]
5/30/2019 11:19:22 AM
I mean we’ve had one #1 overall pick and now 5 QBs drafted into the NFL in the last ~17 years. That’s really damn impressive and our best season was 11-3, 5-3. And I don’t think his point was *that* baffling or unnecessary (it had context imo, but I understand taking it as an insult). Nobody is saying all those guys are HOFers. But you can put our list of QBs up against anybody in the conference and ours might be most impressive yet we’ve got the least to show for it. I would say only a couple programs in the ACC have had less of a “peak” over the last 20 years than us. That’d probably be UVa and Cuse. Obviously we’ve maintained a good level of consistency...just really consistent mediocrity. Nobody is saying we’re a laughing stock. But it’s pretty accurate to point out that we have underachieved. That’s not really inaccurate imo. There is plenty of luck involved in some of those teams’ successes (Wake winning the acc in a down year for example). But i think it’s fair to say that given some of the great individual talent we’ve had, our lack of hardware is somewhat Surprising [Edited on May 30, 2019 at 12:10 PM. Reason : H]
5/30/2019 12:05:53 PM
^^But until Trubisky, Yates was all UNC had to hold onto. We have Wilson, Rivers, Glennon, Brissett, Finley. All 5 of those guys are currently on rosters and 2 of them are "stars'. How many teams have 5 QBs on NFL rosters right now and have 4 guys in the league that have started multiple games? I don't think a great QB translates to a lot of wins or championships, but it's certainly a huge position. It's just an anomaly that a team like NC State has churned out 5 NFL QBs with 3 different HC's and even more OCs.
5/30/2019 1:54:36 PM
Even our away games are at noonWVU game time announced
5/30/2019 2:49:20 PM
I am okay with the noon games as long as we keep winning them. We’d be the type of team where we play all of our games at noon, get ranked in the top 4 of the CFP, only to lose to some 7-5 Pitt team in the ACC Championship because it wasn’t at noon, resulting in us getting bumped out of the CFP.

Eh not a fan of camo uniforms. Also the ones we had last year with the silver numbers are still the best
6/6/2019 9:43:57 PM
camo uniforms are the grossest can’t wait for the post-post 9/11 era
6/6/2019 9:49:24 PM
generally not a fan of camo unis either. the camo pattern looks a little more subtle on these, but maybe it was just the video. i kinda like 'em but yeah camo unis are kinda dumb in general imo

but they mean we're so america. we patriate. god bless mercia. make america great again.
6/7/2019 6:30:46 AM
I think the uniforms look solid and seem to be getting decent buzz on the internet. My only issue is calling them "Stealth Wolf". I don't see what is Stealthy about wearing all white uniforms unless it's a snow game.

Wonder what potential recruits and current students think about them. The alternate jersey fad is all about them anyways.I don't mind these at all.
6/7/2019 8:06:40 AM
Imagine caring about this.

They should make a baby blue alternate and really get some jimmies rustled.
