Jailed clerk's attorney: Marriage licenses for gays are voidhttp://www.wral.com/gay-couples-will-try-to-wed-as-defiant-clerk-sits-in-jail/14875785/

You don't remember MLKj saying to hate others? Moron

i feel a tiny bit bad for her that this attorney is taking advantage of her to push their political agendabut then i'm like, nah

What gets me is that this seems to be the only delineater between Davis doing her job and not under the guise of Christian faith. Granted, I am not an expert on Apostolic Christian doctrine, but if their only tenant from the Bible worth following is to hate the gays, then she is more akin to the Westboro Baptist Church than to any other denomination I'm familiar with. Was she also refusing to issue licenses to divovees (her own two not withstanding)? What about to people who aren't kind to their neighbors? Jesus was pretty big on that.

Didn't she get divorced like three times? Then re-marry her 2nd husband?
9/5/2015 12:46:58 AM
I'm still confused as to why county clerk is an elected position. Her job is almost exclusively filing paperwork.
9/5/2015 11:15:25 AM
Register of Deeds perhaps? I know that I have voted for a few of those over the years.
9/5/2015 5:46:04 PM
Yeah, I get that she is an elected official, but there is absolutely no reason for something like that to be voted upon. Hire competent people to file paperwork, no reason at all to politicize something like that. Now you have this issue because you can't fire an elected official. Maybe you can impeach her or remove her if there's some kind of law allowing an elected official to be removed based on certain criteria, etc.
9/5/2015 8:14:05 PM
She's not doing her job, so they can easily impeach her for that, but they'd have to call a special session, which would be expensive.

Also, it appears that the right leaning kentucky legislature has no desire to do so.Waaaay too many non political offices are elected. No reason for clerks, commissioners, etc. to be elected positions.

Released from jail to "The Eye of the Tiger" with Mike Huckabee standing by. This video is ridiculous. http://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/huckabee-and-cruz-visit-jailed-kentucky-clerk?cid=sm_fb_msnbc_native

How the Marriage issue Could Have Been SettledIn the wake of Kim Davis getting her 15 minutes of infamy fame, I'll look back at how the tide turned in the same sex marriage debate in the matter of just five years. It has as much to do with opponents blowing the issue as it does supporters making huge gains. Opponents won early battles by using simple slogans such as "one man, one woman" and "marriage has always been understood to be this way."One would think that such mindsets would be enough to withstand the SSM onslaught, but here are the ways traditional marriage advocates blew it:* Failing to adjust its strategy when the other side gained momentum* Making unrealistic comparisons (i.e. SSM will lead to polygamy/animal marriage)* Supporting hypocrites (like Ms. Davis) who yelled about "the sanctity of marriage" when those people had multiple marriages and/or nasty divorces instead of distancing themselves from such people* Waiting until 2013 to introduce a constitutional amendment to ban SSM when Congress could've very easily done it 17 years earlier (hell, Bill Clinton would've signed DOMA as an amendment as he did with it just being another law). Had DOMA been the 28th Amendment in 1996, the burden would have been on SSM supporters to get 38 states to repeal it. A constitutional ban on SSM would have forced most LGBT activists to accept civil unions. Instead, the burden was put on opponents when a judge all but invalidated Proposition 8 in 2010To further demonstrate just how much egg on their faces opponents of SSM have, the fact that the dissenting justices wrote four separate opinions tells me that not even they were unified on the issue.[Edited on September 9, 2015 at 12:18 AM. ^^ I've seen a few, and it gives me a sad every time. I may disagree with what the SC did, but I'm not about to say that elected gov't officials don't have to follow the damn law.

None of these people would support her if she were Muslim and refusing services based on religion. They don't actually want "religious freedom". They want a theocracy.
9/9/2015 3:31:08 PM
I'd like to know why she always wears 2 ugly shirts
9/9/2015 3:37:26 PM
i want to know why her husband went on national tv in fucking overalls and a straw hat.

she should be free to practice her religion. if her religion tells her not to issue gay marriage licenses, she should get a different job where she doesn't have to.

What is a transgender woman (a man that identifies as a woman) comes to the Kim Davis's office with a female partner seeking a marriage certificate ??????????????Does she not issue the certificate since it is a woman w/ woman arrangement or since biologically since she is still a man does this not violate her religious principals? Thus she can issue the marriage license and still fill warm and fuzzy with Jesus?[Edited on September 14, 2015 at 1:44 PM. Reason : k]

Alabama wants to secede, apparently!
1/6/2016 10:28:26 PM
would secession cause them to lose eligibility for the college football championship? i'd be down for that.
1/7/2016 9:32:17 AM
Also it would stop them from being a complete drain on the national economy. Maybe Mississippi and Louisiana will follow? Can't imagine anyone would care in this day and age.
