IMO this has nothing to do with Gott or NCSU. He wants to work on his game and develop his abilities with the best coaches/trainers without the impediment of classes/homework. He can work full time on his skills and body in preparation for the draft. If no team drafts him then he goes overseas and makes money. I dont see much downside to his decision. He wont gain much more from another year.

4/15/2015 5:09:29 PM
also, the idea that Gott can't keep players here. what about the several transfers that have left schools to come play for Gott? can't you jump to just as many conclusions by looking at things with that perspective?
4/15/2015 5:18:51 PM
If only we had lost to LSU, none of this would be happening.
4/15/2015 5:19:06 PM
we'll still be good next year, it isn't the end of the world. it's just very surprising and raises some questions on how we'll address it. I'm sure Gott will figure something out if he hasn't already.
4/15/2015 5:19:29 PM
I'm not surprised this happened. I'm a little surprised it took this long - I kind of figured he would've declared earlier to get a feel of where he was at from pro scouts then make a decision whether to pull out or not. But the reality is he's old for college and basically is what he is.

I'd be more worried if this hasn't become a ridiculously common thing at almost every college these days. Before today, I was starting to get surprised that we were going to get through this offseason unscathed.

Is there a list of grad transfers. Honestly I'm not nor have ever been huge on the Juco route...
4/15/2015 9:28:59 PM
^don't know of a list. i tend to agree...grad transfers just are more proven and obviously already played at the D1 college level.

With Lacey and Washington I figured we would finish 5 or 6 in acc. I will drop that to 7 or 8 now. The weight on Barber and Abu's shoulders just got much bigger.

I can think of zero reasons why we shouldn't be in Tyler Harris' living room begging him to come back

Espn is being extra harsh. In the article about Lacey they said we were gonna be top 25 and now we may be a fringe tournament team.

Sounds about right. People let 1 game forget about how subpar we were this year. We lose 2 of our top 3 players and i dont see anyway we wont be somewhere between also receiving votes and bubble.[Edited on April 15, 2015 at 11:48 PM. if you look past the scoring numbers and the veteran leadership, I don't think we'll miss Laceyhe was a shoot-first guard and that doesn't work in today's ACC
4/15/2015 11:53:46 PM
I thought of him as a pass first guard at least in the first half of the season. I think we tried to encourage him to take more shots when he had them.
