Down 4-7 top of the 9th, 2 outs and no one on base. Game about to be over...right?Lagares double.Granderson walk.Murphy home run.Game is tied, 7-7, top of the 10th, 2 outs and no one on base...a now familiar situation.Kirk walks.Tejada singles, Kirk to third.Plawecki grounder to third, throwing error to second base lets Kirk score.Lagares walks, bases loaded.Granderson walks, Tejada scores.Murphy walks, Plawecki scores.Mets win 10-7. 6 runs in 2 innings. Sure the Braves handed all those runs to us in the 10th, but way to go Mets putting themselves in position to win, never giving up, and having patience at the plate.Wright, d'Arnaud, Johnson and Flores did not play in this game. Cespedes had 1 pinch-hit at bat but struck out, so had no affect on the game. Familia sat even though it was a save situation. Pretty great to know you can keep winning games even without the starting crew...and in a game Jonathan Niese started, no less!9.5 Games up. 19 games left. Magic Number = 11. No longer have to really worry about how the Nats are doing...now it's all about finishing with a better record than the Dodgers.[Edited on September 13, 2015 at 5:20 PM. Reason : -]

I'm starting to get nervous. I don't think this team will blow the division lead, but the starting pitching is what got us here and now it doesn't seem so solid. I'm not super confident going into a matchup where we face Kershaw and Greinke right away. Before the all-star break, Mets ERA was 3.23 (#3 NL) and Dodgers had 3.30 (#4).In the month of September, Dodgers 3.04 (#1), Mets 4.29 (#9). That was while the Mets played most of their games against the Marlins, Phillies, and Braves.Thank goodness the Dodgers are mediocre hitters.

Harvey pitched an amazing 5 innings...1 hit, 1 walk, 7 k's, 0 runs. Then he gets pulled because of this stupid innings count, and then say goodbye to the lead in the 6th. It's mostly owed to defensive errors, but you still knew it was coming.Could have been a career-defining start for Harvey and instead it was a half-game gem followed up with crap. Yankees have scored 5 runs in the 6th.[Edited on September 20, 2015 at 10:13 PM. Reason : -]

Matz is yet to lose a start.3 more wins and this thing is sealed (or Nats losses...but I'd rather not have the team just stumble into the playoffs)[Edited on September 25, 2015 at 12:14 AM. Reason : -]

PLAYOFFS!

Duda has 5 homers and 15 RBis in the last 4 games. What a great time for him to get hot again.

Step 1: Clinch the East.Step 2: "Pretend" that you don't know how to win anymore.Step 3: "Let" the club that hates you most no-hit you to get fans riled upStep 4: Let the Dodgers take home-field advantage so they feel a false sense of confidenceStep 5: ....Turns out you did it just to clinch the NLDS at home?

http://www.sporcle.com/games/lineupquizzes/NYMetsI did pretty well from 99-06, but from 07-13 I really have no recollection of who else was on this team. Must have pushed all of those seasons out of my mind.

hey David Wright, you plan on showing up in the NLCS?
10/15/2015 11:35:00 PM
Wright is the reason they won Game 1 and walked 5 times...not his fault no one behind him batted him in at opportune moments. His OBP was higher than Duda and barely worse than d'Arnaud. Add in a sub-par Cespedes and the 4-5-6 batters were much more disappointing outside of game 3.That being said, Wright did GIDP a few times and that was frustrating. I think it was mostly in Game 2.

Well here we go Mets vs. Cubs as hoped. One fan bases agony continues the other keeps the dream alive!

Harvey in Game 1. I'm guessing Syndergaard in game 2? He only started one NLDS game and had one inning of relief yesterday. Plus it's always better to have him pitch at home than on the road.Saturday - HarveySunday - SyndergaardTuesday - deGromWednesday - MatzThursday - HarveySaturday - SyndergaardSunday - deGrom

So much good merchandise when the team is doing well. I'm considering a couple things, but will probably wait and see (if they end up winning) what the NLCS and WS stuff will look like. The hoodies the players have been wearing look so comfortable but I don't like the "Take October" line

Murphy still hasn't decided last on QO. If he takes it Mets have little money to improve I think Herrera is ready so I hope Murph moves on..[Edited on November 13, 2015 at 1:20 PM. Reason : X]

yeah i agree...i'm fine with murphy not taking the offer.

Niese traded to the Pirates for 2B Neil Walker. Looks like we're getting a similar batter with much better defense (.935 Murphy, .989 Walker), and we had pitching to spare. VERY happy with this deal now that Zobrist is off the table, and 4 years younger than Zobrist.2015 BA/OBP/HR/RBIMurphy (130 games): .281/.322/14/73Walker (151 games): .269/.328/16/71Zobrist (126 games): .276.359/13/56Pretty even lines across the board, but we get the cheapest option of the 3. I think he becomes a free agent after next season but then Herrera should be good to go.[Edited on December 10, 2015 at 7:13 PM. Reason : -]

Comparison of SS options for 2016 (based on 2015 stats)Ruben Tejada.261/.338/.350360 AB/3 HR/28 RBI/36 RWilmer Flores.263/.295/.408482 AB/16 HR/59 RBI/55 RAsdrubal Cabrera.265/.315/.430505 AB/15 HR/58 RBI/66 RNot a whole lot of run production coming from this group, and likely Tejada or Flores will be traded at some point because their just aren't enough ABs to warrent keeping all 3. With Walker joining the team there isn't much room at 2B for Flores either.

Outfield situation: Conforto, Lagares, GrandersonMets are reportedly talking with Denard Span about a platoon role with Lagares, but he's more likely to seek an everyday starting role.Clearly there is a need to replace Cespedes' bat, and now that Cuddyer's $$$ is coming off the books I wonder if another signing is in store. Best free agent options:Justin Upton (4.39 WAR)Alex Gordon (2.83)Dexter Fowler (2.24)Of course getting back Cespedes (4.04) is also an option, but it doesn't sound likely.
12/21/2015 6:14:03 PM
Alejandro de Aza signed to a 1 yr deal. Will be the left-handed half of a platoon with Juan Lagares. Mets will likely also sign a right-handed backup outfielder to replace Cuddyer, since Conforto and Granderson are both lefties. In other news, Kirk Nieuwenhuis signed with the Brewers.[Edited on December 23, 2015 at 4:15 PM.
