Hey. Good news for both sides: It looks like this intensified attention to police actions is likely going to lead to a lot less officers being immune to the laws they enforce.Nobody thinks thats a bad thing right?
12/9/2014 3:08:24 PM
I mean I dont get what cop in their right mind would do anything that could be considered excessive force right now knowing the media will find out about it and they will be scrutinized. Even if you manage to get off, having your name dragged through the mud all over the country has to make the rest of your life more difficult.
12/9/2014 3:13:45 PM
It won't change nothing. If people can watch a man get choked to death, and not indict because of the color of his skin, do you really think some news stories pointing out what everyone already knows is going to make a difference?
12/9/2014 3:14:18 PM
Since no one reads the bottom of the previous page
12/9/2014 3:16:35 PM
I mean if I had been accused of being a racist asshole who killed someone for no reason I damn sure wouldnt wanna be walking around in public much.

^^^I think the general consensus is...homegirl shouldn't have kicked ya boy. This isn't anywhere near a level of absurdity as the other recent examples of police brutality. Let's try another one.
12/9/2014 5:50:20 PM
yeah that's a load of shit. try passing that off if mr punchy mchitawoman wasn't a cop, he'd be in jail son. which is exactly where that bitch ass cop needs to be.
12/9/2014 7:49:07 PM
the difference is a normal person can walk away. a cop is expected to subdue the suspect.
12/9/2014 7:59:19 PM
no, the difference is that a cop can hide behind the badge, and a civilian has to be responsible for his own actions.
12/10/2014 12:54:26 PM
Handcuffed in the back of a car isn't subdued enough for cops, gotta break a orbital bone to put womenz in their place.
12/10/2014 1:00:00 PM
Good to see that Ray Rice can find work after his NFL contract runs up.
12/10/2014 2:02:52 PM
Ray Rice lost his job for punching his woman, but when a cop does it its ok. Ray Rice's woman was in attack mode, walking straight at him with demonic, cold, dark eyes. This woman was sitting down. [Edited on December 10, 2014 at 2:24 PM. Reason : demonic]
12/10/2014 2:24:13 PM
did you watch the video? she was actively kicking the officer.
12/10/2014 2:33:57 PM
according to BlackJesus it's only ok to hit a woman if she gives you the stank eye
12/10/2014 2:45:35 PM
Huge man, can't subdue a woman without throwing his entire body weight into a punch? Gtfo with that cop sympathy nonsense. Janae was actively attacking Ray, didn't stop you people from calling for his head when he defended himself.
12/10/2014 2:50:30 PM
...or you could say the bitch kicked you and get away without penalty.

Electrocuted an 14 year old, while fighting a war to stop Hitler from exterminating Jews. Because killing jews was wrong, but killing a black kid for being black is/was ok. America is a country built on hypocrisy.

that's the kind of post that brings me back to chitchat everytime. gold

So, a new report is out which says Rice had his hands in his pocketRice wasn't reaching for the pellet gunLess than a second elapsed from pulling up to shooting The cop car windows were up, meaning no warning could be heard by rice if the cops yelled them outContrary to police statements, no lengthy ( or any) dialog took place between the police and riceIt's sounding more and more like they just rolled up and shot the kid
12/6/2015 6:11:06 PM
I still don't understand how this wasn't a bigger deal than it washe was a kid who didn't even have a chance to say anything
12/6/2015 6:14:48 PM
I had to kind of reread the the thread to get an idea of the viewpoints back thenLooks like people were justifying the cop by saying the gun looked real, and saying Rice should have put the gun down when told
12/6/2015 6:46:20 PM
^^^ this all was pretty plain in the video, but glad to see it's on paper now.^^ This and John Crawford are the worst of these videos to me. It's nuts what cops (used to?) get away with.
12/6/2015 10:14:00 PM
^^^, ^ yeah the Crawford one is very troubling, and the Tamir Rice one is absolutely mind boggling. I think that's the very worst one.I can't figure it out...the wrong cases keep getting the attention.People paid HUGE attention to Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown, and people absolutely lost their shit over those. In my opinion, Zimmerman is a dipshit and an asshole, but likely didn't do anything illegal that night, and even if he did, it almost certainly wasn't proven beyond a reasonable doubt, so I think the right thing happened there. Michael Brown...as best as I could tell, the cop who shot that motherfucker should get a bonus.Meanwhile, cops just come hauling ass up to a kid holding a toy gun and smoke him before he had time to react, and it gets just a relatively passing mention in the news?Even when people get it right on which cases to protest, they fuck up WHAT to protest. I just realized a week or two about why people were pissed about the Chicago thing. My take was, "They charged the cop with 1st degree murder. Hell, if anything, 1st degree is over-aggressive by the prosecutors. What the hell are you pissed at?" The fact that he fired 16 times has very little to do with things. Then I realized that the problem is the cover-up, and that's very troubling...but even I, who listed to NPR for 2+ hours per day, and most of the TV I watch is news, had missed the important part, because all I'd heard was the bullshit about "16 shots."[Edited on December 6, 2015 at 10:46 PM. Reason : There is a problem, but it seems like all the wrong incidents and aspects are the ones emphasized]
12/6/2015 10:44:52 PM
Of the cops who are convicted, I'd love to see numbers on how many of them are quietly released on appeal for "prosecutorial misconduct" or whatever.
12/6/2015 11:07:30 PM
^^I listen to NPR a lot too and multiple times I heard them say they were resisting releasing the tape until someone tipped off a reporter (or someone with an org) and they requested it through the courts.
