Iowa State had one bad loss all year (WVU). They made the Sweet 16 and probably win there if their best interior player doesn't go down. I don't really see a comparison given the expectations coming into the respective seasons.

In any case the pining for Archie is pointless.

Grossly underachieved? By what metric?

Preseason #6 and ACC favorites and finished first round loss and no votes in the polls.

No exaggeration at all. We flat out sucked.

Now granted years 1&2 overachieved, year two was flat out awful. How could you deny that?

NC State won the Big Three Legends charity game 23-5 over Duke. Hodge, Corchiani and Monroe, coached by Del Negro (Laetnner is looking old)

"Sleeper: NC State Wolfpack

Mark Gottfried has a young, long and athletic group. His freshmen gained valuable experience last season and the addition of another talented class, along with Alabama transfer Trevor Lacey, will put the Wolfpack in the upper echelon of the ACC.

Gottfried's teams can score. They push the ball hard in transition and attack. Despite the loss of prolific offensive talent T.J. Warren (24.9 points per game), I expect NC State to be one of the highest-scoring teams in the league. Anthony "Cat" Barber is explosive in the open court and the addition of Lacy will give Barber a skilled backcourt mate that can shoot as well as see the floor. Lacey averaged 3.2 assists a game his sophomore season at Alabama.

I expect small forward Ralston Turner to be more consistent as a senior. With a year in Gottfried's system under his belt, he'll have a better feel for the nuances of the high-post offense and where his shots are coming from. Turner shot 37.2 percent from 3-point range, and if he improves his shot discipline, he could be one of the better long-range shooters in the country. If Turner doesn't buy in, he'll be pushed by 6-7 freshman Caleb Martin (ESPN's No. 62 overall player in the Class of 2014). Martin is a smooth, skilled forward who has a great feel for the game. If he gets stronger, he -- along with his brother Cody -- will add depth to the small forward position.

Upfront NC State will rely on the improvement of its sophomore frontcourt players. Lennard Freeman could develop into a big-time rebounder (he averaged 5.7 rebounds a game in 23 minutes last season), while Kyle Washington showed the potential to score from the power forward position. Beejay Anya is a wide-bodied, low-post player who, if he gets in shape, could give the Wolfpack an interior presence. The addition of power forward/center Abdul-Malik Abu (ESPN's No. 32 overall recruit) will give Gottfried another frontcourt option. The 6-8 wide body plays with a motor, is not afraid to bang and is relentless in transition and on the glass. If he develops a go-to offensive game, he could be a difference-maker.

The Wolfpack will be one of the more athletic teams in the ACC. If their sophomore frontcourt players develop, improve point guard play and become more committed on the defensive end, Gottfried's team will be a team capable of finishing in the top four of the conference with the potential to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament."

Louisville is our only hostile "road only" environment.

UVa again with incredibly easy schedule. 2x vs State, Wake and VT (and UL). Away to ND, Miami, BC and Cuse (and UNC --- Cuse will not be a top 25 team).

Jeff Goodman ranks us 44 in next season's top 50. What a bunch of crap, we are at least the 43rd best team.

44. NC State Wolfpack

Gone: T.J. Warren, Tyler Lewis, Jordan Vandenberg

Returning: Ralston Turner, Anthony Barber, Desmond Lee, Kyle Washington, Lennard Freeman, BeeJay Anya

Coming in: SG Trevor Lacey (Alabama transfer), PF Abdul Malik-Abu (ESPN No. 32), SF Caleb Martin (ESPN No. 62), SF Cody Martin (ESPN No. 91)

Key Riser: Anthony Barber -- It's his team now that Warren has left early for the NBA, and he'll have a season of experience under his belt. He's a quick guard who can push the tempo and also get his teammates easy looks.

Analysis: It will take some time to adjust to life without Warren, who averaged 24.9 points per game. However, Mark Gottfried will have key pieces back and will add a talented transfer in Lacey and also a nice recruiting class that includes a trio of Top 100 players.

Summer Buzz: The Wolfpack need three guys in the class -- a scoring guard, a forward and then the best player available. Mark Gottfried and his staff are trying with elite players Malik Newman and Diamond Stone, as well as wings Allonzo Trier, Eric Davis, King McClure and big men Calrton Bragg, Chance Comanche and Brandon Ingram.

Is anyone else glad that Tyler Lewis isn't coming back? I know it takes away from the team, but that opens us up for a new player. Also, it seemed like every time we had a major screw up on the floor he had the ball in his hand or he was right there at the front causing it (specifically that 16 point lead where he turned it over like 2-3 times in a row).

The only 'good' thing about Tyler leaving is that hopefully it allows Cat to take the next step forward in becoming a better PG (which he had started to do towards the end of the '13-'14 season).

Yeah Tyler was a good player for us. If Cat can get close to Tyler's court vision, he'll be solid.

^^^^ Lewis' TO rate increased significantly from the 12-13 to 13-14 campaigns. He got about 7 more minutes per game from those two years, but his turnovers nearly doubled. He did well, but he was not headed in the right direction for us.

(continued) Also, his plus/minus was outstandingly awful this past year (it was 0). That could just be a fluke, but considering the year previous his plus/minus was extremely high you can see the problem.

Based on your posts here and in the baseball thread, I'm starting to wonder if you actually watch any games or if you just try to interpret the stats, but you do such a bad job of the the latter that you may just be a troll. Tyler committed 2.08 turnovers and 4.54 assists per 40 minutes his freshman year. He committed 2.12 turnovers and 7.53 assists per 40 minutes this year.

I think people find reasons to hate on Tyler because of his height and defensive liabilities.

He was a good player. Let's leave it at that.

(Stats major btw, and I look at the important statistics that actually rule how a player plays. The common stats that are thrust into comments tend to be effects of how they do in other areas, not direct causes.)

Tyler has been overrated for the longest time. All this stuff about his A-TO ratio means nothing. Just because you have a lot of assists does not mean you are good for the team. His stats have improved because he has been given more playing time, but there is something key with this. As his time increased his TO's increased significantly faster while his assists have gone up linearly.

Troll status confirmed.

Again, Tyler committed 2.08 turnovers per 40 minutes his freshman year compared to 2.12 per 40 this year. Whoa, what a statistically significant increase in turnovers!!! I'm shocked I missed it the first time!

I would like to see your actual analysis of all of these 'stats'. Your information does not match up with his actual statistics. And besides it's kind of sad that all of you have had to resort to name calling and straw jokes since you are unable to produce actual arguments (try that some time maybe). Also, the Rodon thing was because I do not watch baseball. His stats merely show that he is not as good as people hold him to be while the rest of our pitchers seem to be doing better. So you should also try to find some context to base your 'arguments'.
