So since I started hearing about BeeJay, I've constantly heard that he has the longest recorded wingspan in basketball history, both college and pro. But in a recent game, I heard them say he has the second... anyone know who has the first?
3/23/2015 5:34:30 PM
Anya's is 7'9"Bol's was 8'6"Can't wait til Kyle Washington convinces Anya to add a long range shot to his game[Edited on March 23, 2015 at 5:42 PM. Reason : .]

IDk who has the longest wingspan. I think they always say "recorded at the NBA combine" or whatever. So idk how long they've been recording wingspans at the NBA combine. I don't know if every player goes to it. I'd imagine many foreign guys don't. Not to say that Anya's wingspan isn't impressive. But that stat has always kinda been a little curious to me.

Damn BeeJay. Almost looks like they photoshopped his head on Abu's body.
8/24/2015 6:02:08 PM
Wow, he looks amazing there!
8/25/2015 10:01:36 AM
Eh, pictures from this August look a lot like last year's pics in August. Some reports the coaches are frustrated he had to spend all summer losing weight instead of working on his game(just like last summer). Hopefully he doesn't put on any weight between now and the year and can actually focus on developing a move or two on offense.
8/25/2015 10:23:40 AM
^true, I just looked back at page 2 of this thread and it's very similar.
8/25/2015 11:02:11 AM
last year - and maybe every season - his problem was keeping the weight off during the season. i think gottfried said he had added like 20 lbs during the season after starting the year below 300 lbs.
8/25/2015 12:23:56 PM
(August 2014)
8/25/2015 12:36:30 PM
I give him some slack on that. Once season starts you gotta start pounding calories and especially carbs to compete at game speed level and still be contributing positively rather than just trying to run yourself until you can't anymore and focusing on cutting fat.
8/25/2015 1:00:16 PM
On the first day of classes, look who I ran into.
8/26/2015 11:43:51 AM
dat ass
8/26/2015 12:11:45 PM
Did you feel his abs?
8/26/2015 12:16:40 PM
17 points (7/8), 5 blocks and 7 rebounds in 24 minutes(yes, against inferior competition, but they did have two 6'11" guys)
12/14/2015 9:04:48 AM
If the big fella continues to improve, he could be a monster as a senior
12/22/2015 11:09:03 PM
did he have a good game?
12/23/2015 4:52:11 AM
up to 173 career blocks. Thurl Bailey's school record is 207, so well within reach this season if he averages a couple blocks per game.
12/23/2015 11:56:46 AM
Please walk into a lake forever
1/27/2016 10:47:32 PM
I'd still have taken him over Meeks....... in a burger eating contest
1/27/2016 11:15:53 PM
that joke is funnier every time i hear it! it's funny 'cause he's fat![Edited on January 28, 2016 at 9:27 AM. Reason : 192 blocks, 15 away from thurl's school record]
1/28/2016 9:25:57 AM
A remarkable feat for such an unremarkable player
1/28/2016 9:31:31 AM
solid game today. up to 203 blocks, 4 away from tying Thurl's career record
2/20/2016 6:51:06 PM
Maybe it is just me, but he looks like he has put back on a lot of the weight he lost.
2/20/2016 9:51:16 PM
Yeah, he does that. He likes to eat.
2/20/2016 10:12:27 PM
^^ yeah that's just you
2/20/2016 10:20:04 PM
^^^ they talk about it in post game sometimes. It is a combination that he can't stay on his weight loss diet during the season and be able to play at game level and that he may not be making the best choices when selecting his food
2/20/2016 10:47:45 PM
i don't get why someone standing next to him prevents him from exploding up to attempt those dunks. he must have issues holding on to the ball. he should do the same thing he does when he's alone when people are beside him and around him.
2/21/2016 11:41:39 AM
He has definitely put weight on. Sometimes I wonder if synapse even watches.[Edited on February 21, 2016 at 1:36 PM. Reason : ^Of course he does, watch him shoot free throws. His hands are so big he can barely hold it]
2/21/2016 1:36:01 PM
that doesn't make sense though. big hands should help with that.
2/21/2016 2:30:11 PM
This guy is fucking worthless. Vandy might have been better.
2/24/2016 8:46:11 PM
Vandy would make the same dumbfuck fouls that Anya just did, get beat on the spin move like Anya did, but he wouldn't have 4 boards and a block like Anya does.
2/24/2016 8:51:45 PM
But he would have a faux hawk and a beer belly
2/24/2016 9:37:18 PM
Remember when we thought this guy was better than Meeks? Page 1 even mentioned him as a lottery pick. Sigh.
2/24/2016 10:09:16 PM
It's a shame that his name will be in the recordbooks instead of Thurl's...considering Thurl actually played both ends of the court and played actual defense, not the "fuck it go for the block" d that anya plays
3/2/2016 6:39:55 PM
He got it last night.^jerk.
3/3/2016 9:33:22 AM
Assuming he plays a decent amount next year, he should be in the top 7 all-time in the ACC, and possibly top 4-5 if he has a real good year. Imagine if he could play more than half a game. He's better than nearly everybody on the list per 40 minutes
3/3/2016 10:18:45 AM
^^ how am I a jerk bc of that. It is the truth
3/3/2016 1:23:06 PM
It is literally all he adds, that and a few put backs. This record is inflated because he constantly leaves his man to go for blocks. People that are celebrating this achievement don't understand the game.
3/3/2016 2:44:18 PM
Precisely what i was saying. Totally selfish defensive player, black hole on offense
3/3/2016 2:47:42 PM
Imagine how many blocks he'd have if he didn't constantly run outside the 3 point arc to try and help on a screen. He would've shattered the record.
3/3/2016 3:53:24 PM
Or if his name wasn't just phonetic letters
3/3/2016 5:32:43 PM
yall BJ haters are stupid
3/4/2016 12:51:13 AM
I'd be interested to see how many of his blocks actually resulted in a change of possession.
3/4/2016 8:16:39 AM
3/4/2016 8:39:22 AM
yeah, if Anya played on a team with a semi-competent defensive coach, he could be a great defensive player.
3/4/2016 9:51:09 AM
^^I've noticed over the past few years that a lot of the teams do that now.
3/4/2016 10:25:10 AM
i feel like we can all acknowledge that he's a dang good shot blocker but also has very serious flaws in his game.
3/4/2016 12:16:20 PM
